Honestly I look forward to her branching out into different adventures in entertainment. I know some don't like to see her peddle bags and such but I am not apposed to it. Tbh, I haven't bought anything, it's just not in my nature. I think she really wants to do something different. Acting, definitely. I am ready to embrace the new chapter.

For those saying "oh, but she only works 2 hours a night"... more proof this woman is under all kinds of stress & pressure most of us could never imagine. A lot is riding on her -

 

Caesars CEO Mark Frissora Steps Down

"Caesars’ 3Q report lagged behind last year’s, partially because Celine Dion had to cancel 20 shows and 2017 featured major boxing events that were difficult to replicate."

 

Even for a company currently valued at ~$22 billion, Celine's presence (or lack thereof) has a significant impact.

 

Here's an excerpt from yesterday's Caesars earnings call -

 

Poor Caesars lol... are we to feel bad that Celine cancelled 20 shows when they make 500 millions USD a day from their properties. I wonder if the Caesars Palace hotel pissed Celine off and that’s why she decided to not renew.

Um, no. Far from it.

They make about ~$4.8bn a year in Revenues (i.e. before any costs), ~$1.2bn in EBITDA and negative $375mln in Net Income (all for fiscal '17).

For fiscal '16, Net Income was negative $7 billion.

 

It's a loss-making business. One that only recently emerged from bankruptcy protection, having lost investors billions of $ (believe they wrote off about $10 billion).

My point is for them to justify their “loss” from 20 cancelled performances is bull s***.

It’s like they expect Celine to save their casino and economy which is too much, she isn’t the mayor of the city just an entertainer doing her job. This isn’t towards you just that initial post. That shooting at the Mandalay Bay turned a lot of people off, and yet they don’t acknowledge that.

Mandalay Bay is an MGM property, not Caesars.

I know that. I was referring to Vegas in general in that reference; the overall tourist revenue.

You haven't read many earnings releases, have you ;)

 

If Celine's show makes up a significant portion of their business, which it clearly does (and which was the point of my initial post quoting the earnings transcript - her having a lot on her shoulders), they're absolutely going to call it out if it shows abnormal performance in the quarter. That's how this works. Equity research analysts are paid to ask these questions, and execs to answer them.

 

Mandaly Bay, being a different owner and different quarter, is not comparable. (And FWIW, they did call it out in their earnings, so to say they didn't acknowledge is not accurate.)

I just have to say that Celine looks sooooooo amazing!! :w00t: Whatever she is doing, it's working because she looks like her 2007/2008 self all over again. I am beyond obsessed with this new dress. It really shows of her amazing figure and those toned arms! :wub:

 

Edit: Does anyone happen to have pictures of this dress? I would particularly love to see a picture of the back of this dress, because I noticed that it beautifully shows off her back. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. :)

Glad she went for that first run tonight on chfil. Sounded extremely shaky though. Amazing the difference vegas has on her voice. Acapella song like this it is even more obvious.

 

On the acapella one we noticed the “vegas effect” so different from the tour, maybe that’s why she didn’t do the “help” on the other night

Especially as in 2014 Caesars "allowed" Céline not to sing for a year, and it was not for her own health conditions, but René's conditions.

 

Not sure that would have been something that was foreseen in the contract and covered in any insurance policy - the death of her partner, potentially, but not the long period of illness.

Just like for "normal" jobs: you may have legally/contractually days off for funerals but not to stay for a lengthy period with your ailing partner.

 

Somehow I believe Caesars granted her the year leave (2014-2015). I guess because of the relationship created since A New Day show. In René's Celebration of Life, executives spoke and clearly the human bonds sounded deep and with a lot of respect.

 

But financially that must have been a hit to Caesars.

 

Therefore, Céline must have, in return to this gesture, to give something back. It's business, hence the pressure indeed on Céline's shoulders that everything is ok. And those 20 missed shows, that added up to the costs (covered partially by insurance in that situation though I suppose).

 

I think we do not consider enough the financial constraints that are on such long term engagement. :unsure:

 

In the negotiation to leave the residency, I wonder if actually there was any guilt aspects from Céline perspective to renew for the 2014-2015 missing shows. But that's another unknown story - maybe for For Keeps 2 ^_^

From what I've seen, it looks like everyone love this new gold dress.. But i really hate this dress. It's too sparkly, didn't show any of her figure, yet make her looks way older. And now, she's having 2 gold dresses in a row.. What the.. I'm really sick of her wearing gold

I bet that months after Vegas run is over, ppl will still whine 😁

 

Never saw so many neg comments. Who cares now that we know she will be done in 47 shows ( like a drop in 15 years of shows)?

 

Ppl never stop to amaze me. So many hate and frustration wasted.

Just be back in 6 months and listen to someone else in the meantime. 😁
