But she keeps a random cover song of a song that was big in Australia. Makes sense. :/

 

Why "random"?

I see it as very appropriate and timely given the current political climate in the US (especially after last week!) and in light of next week's elections. Can't think of many more pertinent songs for the moment elsewhere in her repertoire. Hardly "random".

Nobody cares whether it was “big” or not, you’re missing my point. Point being IF she sings a song that wasn’t a hit and she claims to “love” she should stick to a ORGINAL song from her catalog, my opinion of course.

I agree. But she has great songs in her Catalog that she has NEVER sang live and she sings just random covers instead.

But how is it random ? She explained that its been part of her soundcheck for YEARS and that shes always wanted to do it live and after the great reaction she got in Oceania, i guess she wanted to keep it going

Overall I’m pretty thrilled with this return to Vegas!

 

I think they did a good job making the tour set list work for Vegas. It feels fresh and Celine seemed super into it and energetic — so that’s great for us all!

 

She looked stunning and sounded great! Hopefully there will be all kinds of surprises coming our way in the coming months...!!!!

That word gets thrown around a lot here and I'm always perplexed by its apparent negative connotation and intended definition in the context of the discussion here.

Celine also loves Sia's Songs

but she did not play songs on the official tracklist

but sings only snippets between pause and when She joking .

And really it would be nice if she was singing more of her songs

who did not get the space and stayed on the albums only .

I absolutely love this setlist for Vegas. It’s high energy and a great mix of her hits and good covers. I know many are sick of the Prince medley, but Purple Rain is still a great moment in the show.

 

The orchestra medley is fantastic as well.

 

Really looking forward to seeing this show in person next year.

Not a bad seat in Rear Orchestra. But I know it’s more money but I HIGHLY recommend Front Orchestra so you can take advantage of the Pitt. You won’t regret it for the extra money.

Celine's team should have had the idea to ask people going to the Oct 31st show to go with some kind of costume, and Celine show up in a costume for the first part of the show (nothing too elaborate, something easy). It'd be fun.

 

I feel like she would do that ha. When she said "tomorrow's Halloween...okay, I got it." I was like, what is she thinking about? What if she dresses up? She won't but it's a funny thought.

None of "her" songs are hers anyway. They're all written by professional songwriters, many *not* written with her specifically in mind. She's an interpreter.

 

Is All the Way "random"? She recorded it, even named an album after it. But it's clearly a cover done by countless others. So does that somehow take away from its legitimacy as a song she should be allowed to perform?

 

Is it considered "random" if she records it *after* she performs it (like At 17 or TSMGO, both often called "random" around here), but "not random" if she records it *before* she performs it (like RDMH, ABM, FIY, IDAN, POL - all covers). Most of these were hits before Celine got to them. Some (like FIY) were not.

 

This distinction of "random" vs "not random" seems entirely arbitrary.

She should! But alas, the Vegas show seems too square for that.

She was magnificent as Maleficent last year! It got my hopes up for this year and all we got were some crooked teeth.

Yes they are covers .... But Celine breathed new life into herself

And especially to the songs recorded on the album and it hits and is taken primarily as Celine's own songs.

But point are songs that are not covers but songs written for her.

 

Who sing only once - or Celine did not sing at all and remained on albums only .

 

because it's her show in Las Vegas

from 2003 until now .. So really can now work better on creativity when Celine ends in Vegas in 2019

The concept of the show Celine more of her own songs

and covers could only be like a bonuses (medley jazz, acoustic ... and tribute to other artists whom Celine admires and loves.)

To those complaining, four months ago weren’t you saying that the preview of the Asia tour set list should be the permanent Vegas set list and now that it actually is you’re complaining about that too?

I think this setlist is better. The mr paganini etc are gone and the show has a lot of Celine in it. The golden suit looks very Vegas with the glitter and glamour. Plus they have to cut because these are the showtime regulations of Ceasar's. In a tour she can do much more songs

First, It’s too simple for Vegas standards, and second, I’m just bored and tired of seeing her sing the same songs over and over again in the same setting. There is no freshness anymore. It’s a forced program to fulfill a commitment.

 

Bring on a new album, bring on a more interesting show. Stop playing it safe and stop that old and tested approach. Sing more songs you haven’t sung that often before in a nice arrangement. If I hear BYLM or LCMM again, I’m gonna scream! Gosh, I’m very happy that she is around, but she and her team need to spice things up. This boring routine that has been going on for years pushes fans away. I’m her loyal fan, but I’m really loosing interest. No releases, no interesting things, nothing. Just a comeback to Ceasers and a repetition of the asia tour. You know, if that’s all then I leave and come back only if new music is released. I really don’t care to follow her anymore, cause there is nothing to follow

That's so complicated. I do understand you but we have to think about the ones who are not fans and just want to hear the songs they know, which must be about 75% of her Vegas public. But i do agree that she should think of ways to mix her famous hits with songs that the hard core fans love, better then just do covers.

the problem is that she doesn’t care to please the fans with releases, bonus material, behind the scenes footage, rare songs, pictures, even though she could because she has it all recorded in the archives. And in addition there is this boredom that I already mentioned. Either you get nothing at, or Celine with the same songs that she has been performing for years. It’s ridiculous but that’s it. But that’s not enough for me, sorry. One thing i agree with as well is that for the price people have to pay they get a stripped down Vegas show. the stage is too empty..nothing spectacular at all. The tour stage plus lights looked more interesting. And yes i do hope she can once try to do other songs. who knows when ...

It’s should be in her and her teams interest to keep the fans happy when times are not that exciting, but they simply don’t care, although they have tons of things that could be released. I honestly feel like she’s given us a lot despite Celine losing the love of her life not too long ago. I would’ve been bed-ridden and chronically depressed if I lost the love of my life / my creative partner. Rene was the other half of Celine Dion: the empire.

 

Yet she’s persevered and has put on three awesome summer tours across the world, released a brand new acclaimed album in 2016, released a few beautiful new English singles including one that cracked her open to millions of NEW fans (Ashes), she’s reinvented herself as a fashion Icon, she’s continued on with her fashion line, and she’s fulfilling her Vegas contract which was incredibly important to Rene and she will remain THE queen of Vegas / THE person who changed Vegas.

 

Hineslty, I still feel like I didn’t soak in all the promo that came along with past albums — Sans Attendre, EUS, LMBTL. Going back and watching those promo appearances / vids on YouTube keeps me going as I eagerly await her new English album!

 

She’s only human and she’s experienced tremendous loss and is focusing on raising her boys and balancing her career. She doesn’t ask for our pity. But I think we should keep it all in perspective.

 

She’s gonna be moving on from Vegas soon. As fans we should be proud of what she accomplished there despite the monotony. Other artists (Cher, Babs, etc.) have periods where they’re less active. It’s okay!

 

2019 WILL bring that delicious album. Hallelujah!!!!
