The song is despised because of the arrangement and the way she sings it this time. I don't think it's a filler or something, it just doesn't sound nice at all.

 

1. It's not "despised"; it is a widely-loved and universally acclaimed song, successfully recorded by many people 2. The arrangement is brilliant; inventive, modern, ambitions, which is pleasantly surprising from the usually-vanilla arrangements Celine deals in; and 3. It sounds fabulous.

I am hearing last night's show, as some of you probably figured out, :laugh: :lol: After hearing the violin medley in its entirety, I feel like the transitions are very luck-laster, they leave a lot to be desired. Thete's a serious instrumental gap. It makes no sense. Even when I know what's coming/what the next song is, I am confused and siting here going, what? Huh? What's the point? I am a pianist so I understand that there are multiple ways to go from the key At Seventeen is in, to the key ANDHC is in. That absence, that silence, that gap, it's like, could they not come up with something better? They have time to work out the kinks, and one thing I will say I LOVED was how there was kinda a little conversation going on between her and the violin in At Seventeen. She sang a line, then the violin scooted them seamlessly into the next phraise. Then she sang, then the violen moved them to the next key/chord etc. I did love that and do hope they keep that. Anyone on here who plays an instrument might understand what I'm talking about. The transition from ANDHC to Unison was good as that part does need a little silence/gap. Also, though I lyrically get why At Seventeen comes then ANDHC, it just. doesn't. work. For me anyway. It's two total opposites. It's like going from the hottest shower water to the coldest ice. Many amazing suggestions have been offered for an acoustic medley but throwing a few of my ideas in, what about Misled in an acoustic medley? It's fast, so the guitars would have to keep up somehow, but it's a shame not to have it in. I did, however, love the way she did the last "they call and say come dance with me" line in At Seventeen. She threw a new things in there.

I liked the setlist exchange, but I did not like the clothes, ugly clothes, forgive me who likes, have more beautiful clothes, and this black and white dress looks like a sweater to wear inside the house.

I still think they should sweat more the big screen of the coliseum, yes it seems a test show for the tour in Asia, but the show of Céline is so listen, the stage is so dark, sad, needs more joy on the screens, more light , more videos.

FIY does not need a dance with Pepe, it's not good, it's a song to be sung, the dance did not work.

I'm sorry, NO. Eyes On Me is waaaaaay too fast for an acoustic medley. I can't stand Ten Days but it would fit an acoustic medley well. Also, YESSSSSSSSSSS! In Some Small Way would be amazing if she brought that back. Perfect song to represent Miracle with! I like the acoustic medley now as it is. Those are good songs to do for it. The only thing they need to do is speed up the songs a bit. She does always say she wants the audience to join in, but the guitarists don't play IA and TTWII fast enough for people to dance or even clap along to. Also yes, must add from a previous post that it is sooooooooooooo time for BATB to take a break! I miss HDAMLF. I so wish she'd done it the nights I was there but it would be nice if she'd do it live again this year. If not, do keep Ashes, and I think she will! and I like how BATB leads to Ashes! Perfect. Funny how she teases how loooong ago BATB was and that many of us weren't born yet. When she said that Wednesday night, I yelled out, I WAS!!!!!!!! :) :laugh: not sure if she heard me, but I did!

 

I wish she would sing Ten Days in french- imo Tomber sounds better :)

i think it a nice change , very daring to present this kind of sound to her public. Not the first time that i hear her make dissonant note. When she was singing a note at the end of How does a moment can last forever , and other times also. she likes to play with it.
Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

She only wore the black dress the last two nights for the string quartet medley and TLYM.

After listening to the introduction to At Seventeen in entirety, I'm so obsessed :wub: as a violinist myself I can say it's so rich and gorgeous. Love the vibrato!

The reason I didn’t love At 17 was because I didn’t know how they led up to it and why there was the abrupt breaks imbetween each line, but it’s perfect. I love that there’s a very orchestral part of the show!

 

Ten Days would also be very beautiful! I’d love that! Even in the acoustic medley instead of TTWII or IA.

Love love love love!!! They should bring it to the show. Love the run she did with “Somewhere, all the love that we have, can be safe” :wub: the crowd obviously loves that song!

I would love Ten Days in French, good point someone made. Also, the abrupt breaks between lines in At Seventeen is like she is having a conversation with the violins. I love that part. I also think, and it seems the crowd does, too, TLYM should definitely stay. I know this has been said multiple times now, but TTWII and IA need their own separate thing, to be done as individual songs, not in the acoustic medley. NO!

I really hate that gold outfit she opens with as well. It looks like a pimp outfit and it too much yellow/ gold with her hair. She looks old and stiff in it. The blue and white parachute thingy is hideous not even Celine can save that. The black dress is nice but nothing special. The mini green dress with the pink belt is nice but it looks like it belongs to Barney the dinosaurs sister baby bop, such a weird color combo. The pink MHWGO dress is a nice color imo it just goes up waaaay to high on her neck that it looks like a sheet, I preferred that pink one she wore on divas live.

 

If Pepe choose these outfits he needs to be fired. And something tells me he helped, now that we know Law had nothing to do with it. Even Law answers quickly on social media that he had nothing to do with it because he’s probably thinking what the hell lol

 

Then to top it all off, she’s got that ugly corded mic back again to slow her down.

A thing is worrying me... And I have to say it.

 

Since she came back from her surgery, Celine is struggling with LOTS of songs.. it's like she can't really sing anymore. Even on playback (like "Falling Into You"), her voice is awful.

How can you be happy with such a bad voice, guys?!

It's like she's not taking care of herself anymore...

 

Honestly, I'm really disappointed with her vocal condition those days. I'm really scared for the tour.. 😞

Her voice is a bit different yes, but she still nails most of those notes. I think she's just going through the process of "re-training" her ear after the surgery.

And it's not fair to say that she doesn't take care of herself. She does. She sounds much better than she did on her first show after her surgery.

I think she will just keep getting better and better.

I could quote my last message in this topic as an answer.

This is so so unfair to talk about her, not taking care of her instrument. Once again she never stop training her voice with a coach as well as adjusting her environment to it, in order to preserve it. Even if it is not as much as what she used to do, she comes from such a hard work that she is still right now working a lot on it. And this is the best she can do, and the first one suffuring from not being at her top.

 

The girl just comes back from a ear surgery so she needs to re connect the ear to her vocal chord and that can takes some times, for sure she is working hard on it with a coach. And, if I wasn't seeing such a significant improvement so far, the last 2 shows are way way way better, for me the girl is back on track and should be ready for the tour at a very good level. Even if not perfect, songs like Unison, The Reason and Think Twice are still vocally so impressive, she is 50, 2 weeks after getting back... This is something. And she is really into it. Most importantly she is not as off key as when she got back. So I'm a bit more confident about her surgery.

 

What bothers me the most is that in most cases now, I don't like her normal singing voice anymore. It is like, too loud, too strong, too heavy, too nasal, not mastered... It is almost painful for me to listen to. But, this is not from the surgery, not even from 1 or 2 years ago, it is from A new day show. From Vegas then. In studio, she's still able to find this soft angelic voice but live, it's almost gone. The last time I was impressed but like very impressed was her rendition of Over the Rainbow. She was still able to sing normally with the perfect balance between power, softness and technicality. Her rendition was vocally so so good, one of the best of her whole carreer, I find it so impressive vocally, and so beautiful. She sure plays with different technics to not damage her voice, it is sometimes frustrating to understand it with her.

So sometimes I have the feeling that she is only good for acrobatic song such as Think Twice or The reason but not anymore for soft songs. I mean yes her soft voice on Falling into you is horrible for example.

 

 

Some thought about the last 2 shows:

 

I love the fashion I may be the only one but I'm not surprised from conservative Celine fans.

I like the fact that it all comes from the same House. I love that she plays with colors and textures, it has this contemporary minimalistic vibes. So modern, so fresh, more avant garde. That's what she needs. Colors and shoes give her also a very POP touch, for the first time, and this is good.

 

At 17 is a gem, this dissonance thing is just WOW, never thought she would explore this. She is now at the same level as an artist like Madonna, exploring, offering re invention, and as another member was saying, not everyone can sing this way, with such a rythme and melodic characteristics from dissonance. The result is amazing. And for once her soft voice is more than OK. I have to agree that I would have preferer this same treatment on one of her own song. But no one can deny how close she is to this song lyrically so that's fine.

 

Falling into you is a disapointment. By trying too hard to sound live, the playback is horrible, but it was already the case with Le Ballet. Hate this typical voice she is using. It's too loud, too old, too strong, too loud , I don't know how to explain. And if her dance number was amazing on Le Ballet, here I find it useless, it's boring, nothing happens. While the choregraphy and outfit on Le Ballet was really something. Finally, I love the outfit here but not for this dance number.

 

Overall I enjoyed the last 2 shows, She still has some progress to make but I think that the girl is really back on track and close to get back to an amazing level. She is still surprising me so so much since René's death, musically, vocally and in her interpretation. It's like night and day for me. I'm sure she still has some surprises for that Tour. Playlist, fashion, orchestration... This is overall very interesting and way better than anything she did before you know what.

Nope. Someone reached out to him on twitter and he said he didn’t dress any of them for Celine.

The FIY dance... That's correct, not much happens but I'm sure it's for a reason! After you have an ear surgery, the last thing you want to do is head stands or stunts like she did on Le Ballet. I thought it was obvious... :unsure: Edited by Xpresso
