Well to be fair, I've had colds that get better in 3 days and others that last 10 days with ups and downs.

I assume Céline tries as much as possible to do her shows but when the doctor gets involved (whenever he can see her in the day) he makes the call. Can't really plan this stuff too much...

 

I just think it would be a lot smoother if her doctor maybe thinks it'll take 10 days off to rest then to cancel all at once. If she happens to be better in 6 days, well then I guess she gets extra time off to enjoy herself, the fans wouldn't know. It's better than keep making headlines day by day and pissing people off by cancelling shows 2 hours before the curtain drop.

Also, I think in moments like this, I for one, as I can only speak for myself, will say that my disappointment is NOT in her, but in the way her team/CP is handling this. Yes, Rene had some moments fans didn't agree with, but he would never have done something like this. He always put the fans first. I'm not so sure the colosseum or whoever is involved, does. So to be clear, it's human to be sick, and I too have had colds that are better one day, worse the next. I've gotten active again because I felt good one day, but it was too soon as it threw me back into, whatever that is. So I get all that, and I am not disappointed in/mad at her. Her team/CP/whoever, they're the ones who deserve the "blame?" if that's even the right word for this.

I don't think Caesars sees it that way though. They want people at the venue at all cost.

But I agree that when she started feeling sick, they could have cancelled 3 or 4 shows right at the beginning. Ten shows would be a bit much when you don't know how bad the virus is.

I feel like she used to do that. She would get sick and cancel a week or two of shows and then come back. I don’t remember a time when it was a show-to-show uncertainty.

i also dont think that the short notice is her entirely. Part of me wonders if i when she calls to cancel, Ceasars waits a while to post it to see if she will be at the venue at the last second. Just the vibe i got when i was staying there over the weekend. I know she does everything in her power to do a show if she can at all possible but somehow i sincerely doubt she would be the one to give fans last minute notice .

If your patient is Celine Dion, you make it work. Do a house call if needed.

 

I agree, with Tim. On show days she should have been checked out by her doctor as soon as possible.

 

I hope the best for Celine, she's human it's normal to get sick and that's more than okay of course, the way her team is handling this situation or (lack of handling ) is what is terrible. It's time she hires a manager, somebody who knows whats the best for her image.

 

It would have been better for everyone to have cancelled the show in ONE announcement versus the way they are doing it, if her doctor even as much as thinks it would be about 10 days they should've cancelled all ten at once and play it safe. Just my opinion.

 

If you're the type of doctor that Celine Dion can afford, then most of your patients are going to be rich and/or high profile as well. Don't forget, that being a doctor is also a business. There are plenty of people just as rich as Celine who are not entertainers and can afford the same doctor she uses. It's not about what your name is. It's about who can afford you and who makes their appointments. Celine's doctor is not at the same level of doctor that you and I go and see to get an antibiotic. Let's be real here.

Symptoms are different from day to day. Of course it's going to go on a multi visit basis. If he sees her one day where it doesn't look as bad and says "I'll be here to check on you in two days...," Celine's condition could absolutely be worse by the time the follow up visit rolls around. There's no predicting someone's health. It's an assessment based on when the doctor is with their patient at that moment.

It would have been better if they don't cancel one show at a time. Take your rest Celine!

 

If I would be travelling to Vegas when I knew previous shows have been cancelled I would be very nervous if the show would go on. Then finally founding out that you went to Vegas for nothing....

I have tickets for Saturday night...so selfishly I'm really, really hoping Celine is back on this weekend, but I certainly understand if she has to take more time off. This will be the first time my husband and I are taking our kids and my parents to Vegas with us so we'll make the best of our trip regardless. Was SO very much looking forward to having my parents come and see Celine with me though. They have never seen her live. :wub:

I do think she will be back on Friday/Saturday, and am wondering if part of the reason they decided to cancel the latest two shows was due to low ticket sales for Tuesday and Wednesday. As of 3pm Vegas time, right before the shows were canceled, you could still get 3rd row front orchestra tickets for Tuesday, and there were a ton of empty seats throughout the venue. It could've been a decision to give her the extra two days off, to fully heal, as opposed to pushing it, further aggravating her vocal chords, and then needing to cancel all of the shows, and thereby upsetting many more fans. Friday and Saturday seem to be close to capacity.

I do hope you're right - what you say makes a lot of sense. I was noticing that last night too, that the shows this weekend are almost 100% sold out. *fingers crossed* I'll be going crazy Friday evening waiting for the final word from Caesars.

I'm going to talk to the box office on Friday morning... They likely will have no information, but maybe I'll get lucky and they'll say "Oh, she went to the doctor last night and she's good to go!"

I hope everyone who’s going on Friday and Saturday gets to go! Witnessing Céline Dion live is an incredible experience despite all the negative reviews on the forum, the show is actually very good and she’s killing it for being almost 50!

You are very right about that. Something stuck in my head from an interview I read that Celine did in 2016. Didn't she say something about the family doctor waking RC up in the morning? Although in fairness they would have been very used to doctors and nurses etc being in the house for that few years I guess.

don't think that would ever be a reason for Celine to cancel a show! :wacko:

 

Moreover cancelling a show cos 5 to 10% of the tickets haven't sold is FAR more expensive than a predicament "sold out" and reputation is worth. If Celine was good "enough" to perform she would have!

Frustrating? What’s frustrating is that she keeps being chained to that place after 15 years and that she cannot do other things with her career :ermm: .

 

If only that show she's doing contributed something to her career and showed some evolution through the years, but it's not the case. This new residency adds literally nothing to her career and her legacy. Only the first three years of A New Day were more than enough and then just move on to the next chapter...

I feel like this february, they will start rehearsing for the asian tour. Since she don't have any shows in Las Vegas. I wonder if she already finished recording her upcoming English album.

Yeah, and what for? What's the outcome of it? What will be the prize? Are there going to create an award to give her for her 1,500 shows in Vegas or something? :hmm:

 

Once done 100 shows of it, done all of them, it's the same she does 100, 500 or 5,000. And hundreds of them lately remain invariably the same year after year, having hundreds of songs to choose and keep it fresh and new (for her and for her musicians). But nope. Not a single comma changes. That's what's frustrating.

 

For her personal life it may have been the best thing to do, I can't question that, and that maybe only during the first residency 2003-2007. But today? Not anymore! It has stagnated her career so bad. And has isolated herself from doing other projects and great things that she herself said she wanted to do.

 

And yet she still says today she wants to do cinema... :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

 

Caesars Palace must pay her VERY well.

Why are you so frustrated about a show you have never even seen not changing much over the years. I'd understand if you went regularly like some people on here.

 

And would you even go and see it if it were updated? My guess is not.
