Nmj Posted January 17, 2018 at 12:30 AM Posted January 17, 2018 at 12:30 AM I thought for sure she'd be over her sickness by now. Sorry to all the people who were going to the shows tonight and tomorrow, at least they finally cancelled more than 1 show to be safe, and not keep people waiting til last minute again tomorrow. I was really hoping she'd be able to go on tonight for Renè on his Birthday. Hopefully she'll be back better than ever on Friday. 2 Quote

Even a few more hours would give people enough time to make alternate plans to go see another show... there are going to be a lot of angry people out there... Ugh. 1 Quote

I was thinking of her doctor is ordering rest for the next 2 days, then it should've been announced a lot earlier today. tristan.josef Posted January 17, 2018 at 12:58 AM Posted January 17, 2018 at 12:58 AM Frustrated because there’s a sign up at the Colosseum. No email, no text message, nothing. Just a sign up if you’re physically there, and saw the Colosseum FB page because I’ve been checking it all day due to the last week’s events. I can’t be mad at her for being sick. So upset and disappointed, but they handle notifying people terribly! Still to this moment I wouldn’t know if I hadn’t checked. And yes, certainly seems like they’d know a lot earlier than 4pm if her doctor is saying she’s going to need to rest longer... 3 Quote

First off, I'm not "shooting the messenger". At first all you said was the shows were cancelled the next two days and you gave NO SOURCE, it's only now you're saying you had people there that notified you. The info it greatly appreciated, but you could see how some people were wondering if it was reliable or not. Thanks for the info tho Quote

Kristinaz Posted January 17, 2018 at 01:19 AM Posted January 17, 2018 at 01:19 AM I understand how people feel. When JLO cancelled I found out via phone call from ticketmaster. Nothing from PH or from JLO herself. I was a bit angry because of the way it was handled. Some people didn’t find out for hours. Some others I spoke to didn’t even get a phone call! As for Celine having been to a show/meeting her while she was recovering/still fighting an infection I can tell you that even if she isn’t feeling it she will always put the show first no matter what. She never wants to let us down. So for her to cancel this many dates (most likely forcefully) you know it has to be real bad. 1 Quote

Disclaimer: You all know how much I love Céline, and this post is in support of her, while being critical. It's times like these when Céline's lack of a manager is working against her. I don't know who is making these decisions, but to cancel shows 3 hours before curtain is just a bad decision for so many reasons. Since she has been ill, she should be getting "checked out" by a doctor in the morning, and then if the doctor says "no," the show should be canceled and ticket holders informed by email, text, robocall, etc. The hurt back cancelation is totally different, as she literally showed up at the venue and hurt herself. That is an anomoly. Additionally, someone should've told her that holding a press conference to promote the Asia tour and sell tickets, and then canceling more shows due to illness is terrible for optics. I'm not saying that Céline is doing anything deliberately, I just think there is zero strategy, and she doesn't seem to have anyone looking out for her best interest. I think she always wants to do the right thing, but she's not getting the right counsel or support. I'm confused as to why last week, her doctor didn't say "Céline, you need to cancel shows for the next 10 days, focus on getting well, and come back strong." A doctor should be able to assess the illness, immflamation of her vocal chords, and give a prognosis. I can only imagine that the stress of waiting until the last minute every day to cancel shows is not helping her get well. I really want the best for her, and I hope that she gets the rest and support that she needs to come back strong! 7 Quote je me changerai en or pour que tu m'aimes encore

Yeah...And this is a bad week for emotionally to begin with. Most people understand everyone gets sick. But the optics here are not the greatest... people are going to be angry, given the poor communication. And at 5 shows x 4k... that's a lot of people dealing with last-minute bad news (with the exception of tomorrow, I suppose.) I wouldn't want to be working Box Office at Caesar's this week! 1 Quote

If she gets a clean bill of health for Friday's show, they should post a video on her instagram, Facebook, etc. saying "After suffering from an illness for the last week, Céline is back on stage tonight at the Colosseum, and here is some exclusive footage from this afternoon's soundcheck!" Like, make a big deal about her being back... get people excited about it, etc. 2 Quote je me changerai en or pour que tu m'aimes encore

I really want the best for her, and I hope that she gets the rest and support that she needs to come back strong! I could not agree more. On Facebook, Celine posts are beginning to get the "Angry" face, even ones not related to show cancellations. Obviously, she's human, but this waiting until 3 hours before showtime is beginning to get ridiculous and I say this with a great deal of love for Celine. There's a huge communication gap going on, and they need to just cancel a few days and not these "let's see how it is tomorrow." Of course, I would be disappointed, but I do understand she's human, but there are ways of going about this that won't anger 4,000 fans mere hours before a show. It puts everyone in a bad position unnecessarily: Celine, Caesars, and of course the fans. On a side-note, I will say that she hasn't been "good" since that drunk fan got on stage. I'm wondering if her back is aggravated again since that woman (who wasn't light by the looks of it) was basically hanging onto Celine. I know the whole situation, and that Celine welcomed her on stage, but security should have never let her anywhere near Celine. This was a HUGE security lapse, that thankfully didn't end worse than it could. If someone wanted to do harm to her, I honestly think they could based on the lapse in security. This is not okay. Anyways, I'm praying for a great recovery for Celine and if anyone here's show was canceled, I'm thinking of you tonight and tomorrow, and hope you see her soon! 3 Quote "Celine": The Colosseum: August 7, 2011Celine Dion: Courage World Tour -- Milwaukee, WI -- November 3, 2019
Nmj Posted January 17, 2018 at 01:34 AM Posted January 17, 2018 at 01:34 AM (edited) That's very easy for us to say as people who aren't doctors. Doctors have multiple patients and schedules. If your patient is Celine Dion, you make it work. Do a house call if needed. I agree, with Tim. On show days she should have been checked out by her doctor as soon as possible. I hope the best for Celine, she's human it's normal to get sick and that's more than okay of course, the way her team is handling this situation or (lack of handling ) is what is terrible. It's time she hires a manager, somebody who knows whats the best for her image. It would have been better for everyone to have cancelled the show in ONE announcement versus the way they are doing it, if her doctor even as much as thinks it would be about 10 days they should've cancelled all ten at once and play it safe. Just my opinion. Edited January 17, 2018 at 01:37 AM by Nmj 3 Quote

Xpresso Posted January 17, 2018 at 01:40 AM Posted January 17, 2018 at 01:40 AM Well to be fair, I've had colds that get better in 3 days and others that last 10 days with ups and downs.I assume Céline tries as much as possible to do her shows but when the doctor gets involved (whenever he can see her in the day) he makes the call. sfbaysinger Posted January 17, 2018 at 01:44 AM Posted January 17, 2018 at 01:44 AM I'm sooooooo terribly sorry for those who have had their shows canceled. It's never happened to me as I've only traveled there once to hear her, but I think I would be beyond disappointed if that happened to me. All I can do is speculate that the reason they waited for so long is because she was probably trying to make every effort possible to go on, especially tonight being Rene's birthday. I do think, hope at least, that she knows he would not want her to force/push/endanger herself in any way. But because of this day, I think she really tried, and because of her previous disappointments. that said, should it/could it have been handled waaaaay differently? No doubt! No disagreement about that here and I am sooooo sorry to all those who don't find out till they get there, excitedly awaiting, and then this. I'm sorry for everyone who has traveled to see her and can't. I wish to heck we could avoid the anger/bitterness/meanness on social media...but let's be real, this is 2018 so not gonna happen! If the current administration in my country has no shame to say whatever he wants on Twitter, neither does almost anyone else. Lastly, of course, as I'm sure we all feel this way, I truly, deeply hope Celine is fully recovered and able to come back Friday, especially for you, Tim. I know you go see her a lot and I'd reeeeeeeally hate for this to ruin/taint that streak and those experiences for you. Even without the stress of wondering should I or should I not, this day will always be hard for her now. And then this on top of that. As someone just said, the stress of wondering and trying to make the right decision cannot be helping her. I'm not a doctor, but being Diabetic, I am learning the hard way how severely stress can impact us, in ways we never ever would have thought it possibly could. Feelings aren't just emotions, as a massage therapist I know first-hand that our bodies sometimes store/take them on. So this stress she's under about whether to go on or not, while that can't be helped because, let's face it, that's just who she is, it's not helping! Not only that...while he would understand it completely, Rene would not want her to be under that for a prolonged period of time. Neither do I for that matter! 1 Quote L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine! L'amour existe encore pour elle!
