I miss this! And I´m sure everyone would be happy to see her singing like, 1 hours, 1 hour and half, like she did many times to released albuns there with Julie... its only a exemple. It´s marketing.

We know many things changed with Aldo now and that he doenst want Julie with her (he said that Julie always wanted more attention than Celine on TV when she was with her, thats why he didnt let her to interview Celine first after Rene´s dead). And not only for Quebec... and France? Nothing till now, ok, there will be one performance next wednedsay.... only this till now... and later? Maybe in november when she goes to France again...

But I know why there are almost nothing promo on TV, because she doesnt want to.

She said she doesnt want this kind of humor, this dead humor, thats why she wants to advance the English album....

And Im not complaining about numbers, Im complaining about promo.

In my opinion the charts should be sales ONLY. I know the world has changed with streaming but if someone spends money on a song or album THAT is the ONLY way it should count towards a chart in my opinion. Look at the UK, she actually had the 56th best selling album of the week but charts officially at 88? What nonsense. Because her music isn't streamed or gains a lot of airplay?

 

It really annoys me! Charts should be about purchases and purchases ONLY!

I'm not upset about her selling less than SA. The music market is the pits right now in terms of sales.

 

Compared to the competition, she sold MUCH more than Britney, Barbra and Florida Georgia Line.

I for one am happy with the performance. She went #1 and is way ahead the others in the top 5. For a French album to go to the top of the charts is huge as the majority of people outside Quebec speak English. Yes there are French pockets here and there but the big French population is in Quebec. French songs don't play on English Canadian radio and there was no promotion that I saw outside of Quebec.

 

I don't think it should be compared to the sales of SA as it was released in November leading to Christmas and this one was released I. The Summer,

That, plus SA was released in 2012, and secular decline of record sales in Canada is pacing at 5-6+%/ year, I believe, so given industry headwinds I'd expect EUS sales to be 20-25% lower.

Don't forget that SA was released in November, the month with the highest album sales. Especially coz of Thanksgiving and Xmas. August is one of the months with the lowest sales...

Such a wasted opportunity IMO, nothing compared to what they did with Sans Attendre, where she performed 7 songs from the album and they showed studio footage of additional songs

Well it is impressing than EUS sold 2.5x in France and 35% less in Canada

 

The gap is quite strange. Originally I would have thought the opposite as she was in Quebec, having had a TV interview, 2 radio interviews and was all over the news whereas in France the concerts were already 2 months away.

 

But maybe in Quebec there was too much of Celine in the news since January. And at some point people are fed up. Plus the market decline may be even worse tgan in France.

 

Let's see how it goes till Xmas.

The fact is he did not say it. That was my whole point. Now you want to change the goalposts. Nest time , if you want to post a theory , do it but don't try to pass it as being laid on hard facts.

It is just an excuse you're giving right now, Jav. TV Special or not, EUS did exceptionally well for an album released in the last week of August. Compared to the similar week last year, the #1 album "Descendants" sold 42,000 weekly units with just about 30,000 pure sales. Sure, Céline is a behemoth in comparison to that but we have to compare the same week as last year to get things into context. It is just that we are used to seeing huge numbers from her but with streaming and what not, the music sales aren't what it used to be and it won't be ever.

 

I just hope we cross 200k pure sales for EUS in Canada when all is said and done.

Re: Julie Snyder, there was a lot of speculation about the reason she hasn't done an interview yet. I read somewhere that Julie tends to be a perfectionist and her filming sessions therefore very long and expensive . . .Aldo has taken cost-cutting measures before, so who knows.

 

Personally, I miss Julie's interviews. Their chemistry was magnificent, and she asked the best questions.

 

For what it's worth, Celine sent Julie flowers on her birthday in early August (Julie posted the pic on Facebook). And Celine is still the godmother to Julie's daughter. So there's still a personal relationship there.

I'm also very surprised about the sales in Canada. I was expecting more and even over 100 000 copies... I really heard good things about Celine since the Billboard Music Awards and all over the summer and also about the album... But when we compare the sales with Britney and Barbra, Celine could'nt really do better than she did. The difference with #2 and #3 is huge! So I'm very happy about that. I guess, like several people already said, that the moment of release was not the best...End of summer, end of vacations, back to school thing etc... I hope it's gonna have good legs with the upcoming promo here in Quebec...

Hey! I never criticised the sales. Actually I couldn't care less what she sells or not (and I've always said this), as long as we have a good album. Someone just posted a series of possible reasons why the album hasn't sold as much as he expected, he mentioned the lack of a TV special, and I simply agree with that. A TV Special would have helped people to notice she has a new album out. In any case, it wouldn't have hurt sales, that's sure
