CSCfan Posted September 6, 2016 at 08:47 AM Posted September 6, 2016 at 08:47 AM My guess is they're aiming for longtivity this time around. René's strategy was always maximum exposure in the first week, with all the promo concentrated around the release. But after that, it always died....sometimes a 2nd single helps push the album a bit up again, but that's about it. I think they/Aldo intentionally chose to do very minimal promo around the release and go for longtivity, especially now that we know that there will be a re-release and promo in Nov. But I reckon they also want to see how Céline sells "on her own"; just her name and the concerts. Probably also why they chose August as a release month, so the album can really shine, with less competition, as opposed to a busy month like Oct/Nov. And perhaps Sony's budget is also bigger towards the end of the year, so they can do more stuff before holiday season. 6 Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY

anewdayhascome Posted September 6, 2016 at 10:34 AM Posted September 6, 2016 at 10:34 AM (edited) I am surprised how many of you defend low Canadian sales... All of this could have been said about France if they had been so low. It's the end of the summer, wrong period, Celine was there two months earlier, she did not do any concerts in a past month, there was no interview.... also, there were less concerts in Paris plus there were more international fans there than in Canada, so in general less French people saw the concerts live than Canadians. And yet the album succeeded.Even though the sales in Canada are good in COMPARISON to other artists, it's really low. Taking into consideration the number of people attending the concerts and the fact that they were closer to the release date should at least contribute to good figures, at least as high as SA were... I'm sorry, but how on Earth suddenly we should focus on a Nov rerelease? The management should always focus on promotion since the beginning and the rerelease should be only an extension of it. What numbers did Adele or Beyonce achieve in Quebec? I'm sure they sold a lot, so it's not excuse that the sales have been low recently. dj4celine Posted September 6, 2016 at 01:40 PM Posted September 6, 2016 at 01:40 PM Hey! I never criticised the sales. Actually I couldn't care less what she sells or not (and I've always said this), as long as we have a good album. Someone just posted a series of possible reasons why the album hasn't sold as much as he expected, he mentioned the lack of a TV special, and I simply agree with that. A TV Special would have helped people to notice she has a new album out. In any case, it wouldn't have hurt sales, that's sure I hope you didn't take my response to your post in a negative way, Jav as I was just trying to put her recent sales in perspective as to the current markets. 1 Quote

It's just about who is selling and how So you were going on about how Quebec shows were not sold out while France shows were, now the album sales.... Celine sold 220 000 albums in France were the population is 66 millions. She maybe sold 70 000 albums in Canada, but that's mostly in Quebec a province which holds a population of 8 millions people. Fast cross product: for both places to have the same proportion of sales, she would have had to sell 26 000 albums in Quebec. She sold close to 3 times more. 4 Quote

Popular Post marc-02 Posted September 6, 2016 at 02:50 PM Popular Post Posted September 6, 2016 at 02:50 PM On The Charts This Week 1By David Farrell Tue, 09/06/2016 - 08:02 Celine Dion's Encore Un Soir is a smash hit, even as the greater number of sales for this exclusively French-language album are confined to a single province. The singer’s 13th studio album is also her 14th album to have its debuts at number one on the Billboard Canadian Album consumption chart in the past two decades since SoundScan has been tracking this data. Dion has now surpassed the eight million sales mark since 1996 when the counts began and it is the most sales any artist has achieved here by a country mile. In fact, her closest rival is Eminem who places second with what seem a puny three million units. Florida Georgia Line's Dig Your Roots debuts at 2 with 16,000 consumption units, that includes 14,000 album sales in the week. It is the highest one week sales total for a Country album since Johnny Reid sold 15,000 copies in November 2015 and matches the duo's earlier chart peak, reached with the last album, 2014's Anything Goes. Barbra Streisand's Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway debuts at the top of the chart in America, but here Babs has her first week landing at No. 3, with 10,000 consumption units. It’s her highest chart position and one week sales total since 2009's Love Is the Answer entered in 2nd place. Britney Spears' Glory enters at No. 4 with 9,000 consumption units. It tops the No. 7 peak of her last album, 2013's Britney Jean. A number acts who performed on last Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards show posted strong increases. Ariana Grande's "Dangerous Woman" bops 15-10, with a 21% consumption increase; Rihanna's "Anti" beetles 19-15. with a 14% gain; and Beyoncé’s "Lemonade" leapfrogs 50-16, with a 117% increase. The Chainsmokers' "Closer" holds at number one on both on the Digital Songs and Streaming charts, with a download increase of 33% and a stream gain of 22%. 9 Quote

Sia is unstoppable, like her song . Like Céline herself said, she has everything an artist has to be. I suppose that includes releasing a videoclip immediately after her new single. And a true creative video. Same as they did with Céline, right? They are light years away from each other guys. And I won't follow by saying that she also writes, produces, directs and provides the concept of her videos etc... Edited September 7, 2016 at 10:06 AM by Javito 1 Quote "Hush, now...
