Céline Releasing Studio Version of "The Show Must Go On" featuring Lindsey Stirling

I just bought the digital single off iTunes. The main gripe I have with the song is how the tempo of Celine's vocals doesn't seem to match that of the instrumentation. It sounds as if her vocals were purposely slowed for some reason. Do I find this song to be the worst of her catalog? No. However, it still doesn't blow me away. C'est la vie.

Good on you. I will not buy it. It sounds like it was recorded in a home studio and produced by apprentices learning to use the latest sound software from Apple.

145,000 streams in 20 hours.

I know it's not much but for Céline's standards it's quite ok!

The audio of "Incredible" reached 800,000 views after 3 months.

I love the Vegas version so much that for me nothing can top it, but after several listens I don't hate the new version either. I hope they mix the Vegas version with Lindsey doing a solo part at the BBMAS and I also miss the horns from the Vegas version they make it more bombastic. A mix of both versions would be great, I like the Beethoven at the beginning. It's already been said, casual fans don't even know she sings it in Vegas and they have no expectations. I'm thrilled they dropped a surprise on us though, keep those coming TC!

I hope they keep the Beethoven version and just add in a little violinist solo from lindsey, (then off the stage she goes  ). That's the best we can hope for regarding how things are unfolding.

Scott Price should've been at the studio.

I think it's one of the best for once it's enunciated really, really well. I believe the Billboard performance is going to be like David Letterman when she covered River Deep for the first time she truly gave it all. It's like Open Arms, why that studio version never made it to the album will baffle me they captivated on it they gave us something we didn't get left behind this time.

The song sounds better on VEVO than the Red Heads' version. I do like Celine screaming there at that part, but I agree that they mixed the song really badly.

I saw it on her Twitter or Facebook that she will perform with the violist this Sunday, so we will have a better version of this song soon.

I like that she is singing The Show Must Go On in the chorus.

Somehow in her show only the backup singers sing that part. ;)

Because Brian May is an aging astrophysicist and, sad to say, most of those actually watching the Billboard Awards don't have a clue who he is.

Lindsey Stirling, on the other hand, has a huge fan following in exactly the right demographics. She's young, she's edgy, and she's exactly what Celine needs if she wants to refresh her image, so to speak.

Lindsey won Artist of the Year at last year's YTMAs, Best Dance/ Electronic BBMA, and as I mentioned in another thread, has 8x as many YT subscribers as Celine.

And she charted just as high with her last album as Celine did with LMBTL.

The girl's good, and she matters. I wouldn't be surprised if she's half (or more) of the reason this TSMGO single is charting as high as it is today.

oh whow.

Now I'm convinced.

It's indeed right : the best way to refresh it up is to sing a 25 year-old song.

I thought they released this single because of her current feelings... now it's to refresh her image. :-D

TSMGO is a flop (what would it be without that Lindsay?). More than 24hours later, it didn't even crack the Itunes top100 in US. Not even 200.000 views on Youtube. And it includes the fan effect!

At least 20.000.000 people know she released it.

On top of that, Itunes is not that relevant anymore... streaming has taken it over. So can you imagine what represents being #165 ?

Some artists release single and album out of nowhere (pretty much like Céline) and they go straight to top 10.

This release is just pointless : nobody cares about it, 90% of fans are disappointed, artistically it doesn't serve any purpose, vocally it goes quite nowhere, honestly, we don't know where it comes from.

BUT

Opportunely, it's on top.

I don't care about the commercial failure when quality is there but here, it's a full package failure. :-D

One thing I do like about this version is she actually sings "the show must go on" when the chorus hits.

You're talking about the auto-tuned "show must go on" lines that strike you irrelevantly and awkwardly right after her almost acoustic verse?

Thank you very much for singing this part Céline.

We hardly recogniZe your voice coz of all those effects but stil, thank you.

^ Anywho, Celine is #90 on the ITunes Artist Worldwide ahead of Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Adele, Beyonce and many more.

She's also the #90 artist ahead of Katy Perry, Kanye West, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding and Mark Ronson.

I voted 3 times and it went up from 3.19% to 3.2%, 3.3% and 3.22%. If my maths are correct, at this stage, she needs 100 votes to move a full 1%. To beat Britney Spears who is currently winning, Celine will need around 2,400 votes, and that's assuming nobody votes for Britney. Get voting to stir up some excitement. Hopefully the forum and The Red Heads will post this survey on their fb walls. More people tend to interact via fb.

Actually, that's a lie. As we vote for Celine, other artist percentages come down so she'll probably only need around 1,000 votes to lead.

Sorry, Sony Quebec posted on twitter that they are going to play the single version but who knows...

She's been doing that F#5 literally, I'm pretty sure, since opening night. Yes, a couple performance she sang that adlib like she did in 2008, but MOST she has transitioned up to f#5. Not sure why everyone is acting like they haven't heard this before. Maybe this song is just a song I listen to in all the bootlegs and clips so I know this already, I'm just shocked how many people are unfamiliar with that note.

As for people claiming vocals came frm end of tcwt, let's not forget that she didn't even perform this song the last probably 3 months or so of the tour? I honestly don't know where the vocal came from, but keep that on mind when thinking about the end of TCWT.

One thing I do like about this version is she actually sings "the show must go on" when the chorus hits. I'm not crazy about how in vegas version the background singers sing it and she just stands there. I'm not sure with this different arrangement if it would be even more weird for her to not sing that. It adds some grit to it for me. Back in Africa 2008 she sang the song that way.

Funny you mention opening night, because after I typed that I went back and listened to the song from opening night and you're absolutely right! There it was. I have no recollection at all of it. It sounded much better though, maybe the fact that it's so awful on the recording made it hard to recognize.

Good point about her not doing the song at the end of the tour, I had forgotten that. I dont think it's an old vocal anymore, I think it's new and that her voice is just not in its best shape since Rene passed. She'll get better as time passes, I have no doubt.

Unless she lip synch on this "studio" version, she will most likely sing the LV version that she's used to and comfortable with.

I just hope she's resting her voice today... Like completely, no talking. Would that be possible with the twins around?

Actually, she has a show tonight, so it's quite impossible! ;)
