Even the two versions of L'hymn and The Hymn are two precious gems today compared to the nosense of this recording.

 

When I'm wrong I will say I'm wrong. And I was wrong. The only way to really get a good sense of how this all comes together is having it blasted in your car or on really good speakers. I still think they should use the biggest version for the performance on Sunday but not too shabby for the first release under Aldo.

 

A good song is a good song, and should sound just fine wherever you play it, be it a Bose 7.1 home cinema or a $10 portable speaker for your MP3

 

Not a fan of this song at all... too many covers... this one doesn't add anything new to Queen or to Celine. It seems she can't move her mouth sometimes...so sadly weird. I don't think she went to the studio to record it...or with the intention to record it for a single release. Sometimes I like her voice...sometimes she's not even her voice. And yeah it sounds like TC era or even the version of a french show she did earlier (if I remember correctly).

 

Sounds like "Femme comme chacune", when she is trying to reach the high notes but she fails and sounds as if she was suffocating

I totally understand what you're saying. All last night I was asking why would they sign off on this? Lol, it's pages back in this topic Celine is known for her belts and why they would let that go (2:42ish) I just have to shake my head.

Please do yourself a favour and take this idea out of your mind... because logistically and clock-wise it"s impossible to bring it on stage and then remove it. That's a TV show. What will be happening while in the meantime?

 

Her orchestra is 30 people... They have orchestras, dancers, pyrotechnics, etc. on every award show. It's not at all out of the ordinary - especially for an awards show like this which is in an arena and more of a concert anyway...

I bought the song on iTunes and I think it sounds MUCH better than the leaked version yesterday. Everyone always has problems when a song doesn't sound the way they're used to hearing it. People complain when the live versions don't sound like the studio versions, people complain when the studio versions don't sound like the live versions.

 

As for the scream...it's the granny voice/rock star voice. That isn't meant to sound like a perfect belt. In fact, a perfect belt would sound out of place in this song. They went for a raw, emotional sound - not perfection. It's the perfect choice for this song. Celine is never going to have a "hit" on the radio again. Streisand never had a "hit" on the radio again after her peak. Stop worrying about how the song won't be a hit on the radio. It won't be a hit on the radio because no one will play the damn thing because it's a Celine single. This is for the fans. From the reaction on here, I figure it'll be the last time they do something like this.

 

I, for one, am thrilled to have this new song and then a new french song next week. Maybe some of you who are so unhappy can think of the French song as the single and TSMGO as the "B side" of the single? Anything to calm yourselves down. It's not the end of the world or the end of Celine. LOL

I've been quiet about this as to be honest I was shocked and not sure what to say. I've been wanting her to record and release this song for years from when I first heard it. Then I heard the Vegas version and thought this is it, that's the one she needs to record.

 

When I saw the FB post yesterday I near fell over but then saw the negative comments here and was scared of what was to come. I am disappointed that it's not the Vegas version we've heard lately and I think that certainly did reduce the excitement for the song. I also wondered maybe here was a copyright issue where they are able to perform the song live, but can't record and release a studio version with the Vegas version. While the vocals are far from perfect and agree with many that say it looks like it was taken from a live performance, I do like the violin in the song. Fingers crossed we get a live recording of her Vegas with TSMGO as it is now on the show.

 

The surprise element her team brought has been fantastic and I hope they keep that up as it creates excitement and we've been wanting that for years. So thumbs up for that and hope they do keep this up for future releases.

Ok, I had a chance to listen to the Vevo version this morning while blasting it in my car which has way better speakers than anything in my house and I have to say I actually enjoyed it!

 

I think we were all so put off by the fact that it wasn't the Beethoven version that we didn't even give it a chance. PLUS it is very clear to me that the copy that was leaked yesterday was not the same quality as the one they actually released.

 

After all her talk about how much this song means to her and René I think it would've been weird to release the upbeat Vegas version, the single version is very melancholy and definitely fits her talk in the recent interviews.

 

Bottom line:

 

Am I disappointed they didn't release the Beethoven version? Yes. Do I hate the single? No.

Okay don't hate me and with 21 pages I skipped them all, but listened to the song about 5 times trying to love it....

But lord it's awful! The orchestral arrangement, the pacing and timing, she's super nasal and hoarse... The ending isn't as climatic as it should be... I know, and not trying to be a Debbie Downer but after LMBTL and a Sia track, I wouldn't expect this as studio single release. It just sounds very amateur to me...like if she had some twang and a fiddle it's like a song for country radio.
