I was very happy with the amazing Beethoven intro in Vegas... which finally showed some creativity with a cover!

Let's hope she sings the Vegas version on Sunday. But imagine if you are not a big fan and hear it on the Billboard Awards and decide to buy it online. And then you hear this uninspired and distorted version, you'd never download another Céline song again!!! This is not a good career move!

 

Celine is one a very few artists in the world period that can sing her songs better LIVE than the studio versions. So I don't think people will be that pissed off.

I also have another theory.

 

Since they cannot bring the whole orchestra to the BBMA, they probably arranged this new version with the violing and a small band. While doing so, they probably recorded it and someone came to the idea of "mixing" it with Céline's actual vocals from the show and that's how this strange version came to life.

Then someone decided to release it.

 

I'm positive this will be the version we'll be hearing on sunday.

I would die to listen to that , or to sleep ,i love u all goodnaaaaight ,making celine goodnaight stage voice now, u know the one with the scream ,i do it so good ,i wish u could hear me ,maybe i wil record it and send it ,but not now ,i will shock u Later when we recover from that shock muahh :) lol

In my opinion, this is the worst case of lack of artistic ambition: To have live vocals heavily edited and pass them as a studio recording. This action alone (no matter the intention) does no justice to the original, nor to the status of Celine. The cringeworthy result just makes things worse. Because if the result was any good, then I would probably excuse the laziness.

 

Never been more disappointed as a fan. Good night, people!

I can't buy this song! I listened to it once and I can't do it again... :huh:

It's a shame really. When you think people could have "rediscovered" Céline with a cool cover...

I remember I was disappointed with OPEN ARMS studio version but it now sounds like a wonderful production next to this!

I'm telling u if celine is wiling to sing that version live during bbmas then she better perform naked ,i mean im serious ,or topless thats the least she can do for us,thats the only way to get the audience attention so that they dont listen to that burbing fenomena , just saying ofcourse its up to her and her lovely team 🤑🤗 Edited by artistman2007

This reminds me of my reaction with the studio version of OA. I couldn't believe how much they had changed that one too in comparison to the Vegas version ......bah now I want a live cd of the show. Studio versions IMO never fully capture the magic of the live show

The production of the whole LMBTL album wasn't a great thin if you ask me. I just hope they start making the production great again. Lately the production has a very rushed and cheap feel to it. Please we need David Foster and Humberto Gatica back. No more granny bedroom voice while we're at it. And start mixing her voice again to sound like the flawless vocalist that she is.

i am beyond disappointed. shocked actually. vocals are very weak, nasal, she screeched on a few high notes. this is not a recording dignified of the greatest singer, this sounds like an amateur recording she took in her shower after a night's concert performance and they just added the poor production behind it. i was expecting something epic but got this. at least fix it and polish it better! even mariah who can't sing her songs live sounds so good on record, that is the least expected...so worried about her BBMA performance...when will we get a great performance already this year?

Actually with time there are less and less places in her voice that don't sound strained, nasal, or raspy. But it's called aging.

The magic of the studio work is that she can actually build a recording around those places where she sounds crystal clear.

 

An example of this is the placement the uses for "Over the rainbow". flawless. I think she's in some place where she needs to evolve to her "new self". Maybe sh'ell need to adapt her repertoire. She won't be able to belt forever. I don't know how Shirley Bassey does it but I don't think Céline will hold much longer.

 

She still has a beautiful head voice and mid belts. She could sing a more Barbra Streisand-related repertoire and let go of those power ballads.

I agree with majority of you guys here that the note at 2.43 is unacceptable for CELINE standard.

I think Celine will be able to belt as long as she desires to take care of her voice. Will it sound like 1997 Celine belting, no. But it will still be way above average for anyone let alone at the age she will be.

I really like it too!! The screech is a weird touch, but other then that I think it's good. It's different, that's kinda why I like it. she gave it her own touch!

Just release the live version instead. Leave this version as a b side and call it a remix version or whatever. Very disappointed with this version! Edited by Chin
