RC is a fine young guy. Often , at that age , young ones will only think about themselves (some people stay like that all their life) . He did that just to please his mom, not making a big fuss out of it. That was so great. :)

 

He did it for his mom, and also for meeting Rihanna. Haha

He was great, Rene must be proud of him, watching up above with a big smile and teary eye.

I concur with all the people who say it was one of her finest performances on television EVER! The heels, the dress, the moves, the song, the orchestra. She even fooled me into thinking it was live until close to the end. I'm still not sure, having watched it many times, if the entire thing is lipped or that she starts lipping after Lindsay plays. It is quite obvious from that point on that she isn't singing (to me, a fan who has watched her closely for 25 years now) but there's no way any one in the audience or a casual fan/non fan would have recognized it. She threw herself into the song and, as others have said, gave the performance of a lifetime.

 

I think this is truly a new beginning for her career. The reaction has been positive across the board. You can feel how the industry is really loving her and throwing their entire support behind her. With Aldo in charge of her career, it seems as if this new chapter is going to be an amazing one and so much fun to watch!!

The performance was so emotional, dramatic and very very powerful.

 

I still racall in Celine's 2000 biography <My life, my dream>, Rene was crying when they found out it was a boy. Rene said, this boy will protect you when I am not there. Today, we all see this boy fulfill his father's wishes.

That performance was all kinds of power, sass and EPIC !!! :worthy:

She owned that stage like no one else did that night.

Yes she lipped, but it was the most phenomenal lip-synch the world has ever known. :clap:

In some parts you can't really tell - she's got it down.

I'm am beyond ecstatic that they used the Vegas version.

 

I don't think it was fair to spring RC on her like that.

I felt that it was a ploy to get that reaction.

But it was both heart-breaking and inspiring.

 

I need more of those kinds of performances in my life. :whee:

In recent years, she has kept it quite simple regarding her TV performances.

Aside from using her golden voice, her performances need to shut it down like she did last night. :bananadance:

Production, staging and choreography (air violins, fist pumping & power stance) need to be in sync with her performance, to create the perfect storm of slayage.

 

I have never been so proud to be a Celine FAN.

That's my 2 cents worth.

Celine Dion Performed A Moving Cover Of Queen's 'The Show Must Go On' At Last Night's BBMAs

On January 14, Celine Dion lost her husband of 22 years, René Angélil, to cancer. Two days later, her brother Daniel died of the same disease.

 

So when she performed at the BBMAs last night to celebrate her acceptance of the Billboard Icon award, it made sense that she chose to cover Queen's 'The Show Must Go On'. After all, it's a classic survivor's anthem which features defiant lyrics like: "Inside my heart is breaking / My make-up may be flaking / But my smile still stays on." Dion has now racked up nearly a decade's worth of residency shows in Las Vegas, so the city's T-Mobile Arena was a fitting venue for her to receive the award, and she gave the crowd the sort of grand, dramatic performance that makes her a huge live draw in the Nevada city.

 

Her vocals were as powerful and on point as ever, and after an impressive interlude from violin virtuoso Lindsey Stirling, Dion ended the song with a defiant punch in the air. What happened next is even more affecting: clearly moved to be receiving her award from eldest son René-Charles, Dion is too initially overcome to begin her acceptance speech. Even if you're not a fan of Dion's signature power ballads, this is very moving stuff.

I actually wrote to the girl who wrote the article and told her about the huge news Céline is. She replayed to me that she dont think so, hah... I pretended that I didnt care and also told her that the Billboards was in Vegas, she had made a hashtag för Los Angeles.

 

I feel so bad that they didnt wrote something about Céline and about the answer she gave me!!!

I believe that her performance and the award at the BBMA are much bigger in the US/Canada than here in Europe. Hopefully we follow later with something else, maybe with the release of EUS? Or next year, when the new English album comes out... :unsure:

That's what she should have released instead of her crappy version. On top of that, it was lipsynched and that shows that it was recorded in a studio. Maybe she didn't want to release it because she didn't want to be accused of lip-synching.

It wouldn't surprise me if she sang live in rehearsals, and then that recording was used for the show.
