Ok now I surprised. Celine sang at Daniels wake, I'm surprised why she didn't actually sing at Rene's funeral now.

Oh I know I don't believe that it would've been easy it just doesn't make sense to sing 24 hours later. Rene was her number 1 fan so I'm just surprised that if she choose to sing at one of them it wasn't Rene's. But since Rene planned it maybe he didn't want her to sing but just the recordings instead because he know it would be very hard for her to get through. Who knows, at first I didn't think she would perform Feb. 2 for the Celebration of Life at Caesars Palace, but now i think she will based that she sang for her brother.

Celine saves everything. She is so sentimental. She saved RC's hair when he was an enfant. Of course she is going to keep their wedding rings and of course she is going to wear his ring. She will probably save so much of his stuff to keep his smells and his favourite things close to her. She had rosary beads made out of all these things she had saved from her kids while they were growing up. Wearing his ring would be a comfort to her and a way to feel close to him

wasn't she just there with her family at the point where she sang? Maybe it was just a relaxed thing, and maybe therapeutic for her to sing for her brother with her siblings and mother. Plus there were no cameras on her in there. We don't know how it all went

Do we really need to over-analyze everything?

And to me it makes complete sense. You do not have the same relationship with your brother or your husband. When your husband dies, you're sad/heart-broken. When your brother dies, you wish him well in the after-life. Singing, in particular with the family, makes more sense in the second case.

If yes, then please rewatch the funeral! Look at her shortly after they entered the church and she is standing in front of René's casket. And you seriously ask why she didn't sing live at the funeral of the love of her life?

And pls. rewatch that glimpse or tremendous despair before entering her car. Watch closely her face and you get the answer to your question.

 

And PS: As far as I read, up til now: Celine did sing TOGETHER with her brothers and sisters @ Daniels funeral in a private ceremony.

The rosary beads were made out of the flowers of the funeral of her father. She gave them to her siblings. At least that's what she told @ Oprah.

The hardest and saddest part in all of this for me is that everything that involves Rene, every picture, every video, every memory with Rene is now in the past. There will never be a new memory or picture, there will never be another tender embrace between him and Celine. All Celine's achievements and her touching love story with Rene is now in the past.

 

I am finding it impossible to imagine Celine's life without Rene. Everything we have ever learned about Celine, all her stories with Rene, milestones in her career and her inspirational romance will now only be a memory.

 

It's like Celine is completely starting over. I can't handle this. It's so sad. I don't know about anyone else, but I still can't stop crying. I can't deal with the fact that Rene is gone.

Indeed! She was numb..she was exhausted. Otherwise she could have done a speech as well. Bur she was enotionally empty that day.

The singing the other day was different and it depends how close a bond you have with that brother or sister.

So true there is a huge difference in the relationships, therefore a huge difference in grief. She didn't choose Daniel as her brother, as as devastated she must be over his death, she CHOSE to spend her life with Rene, that's a whole different feeling, different loss, different grief.

I watched every me minute of the wake and funeral for 2 days.

You don't have to explain to me how much pain Cèline was in, I saw it clearly.

I just asked the question, and to say she didn't feel anything towards her brother but to wish him well in the after life at just 59 years old is crazy. Husband and brother isn't the same kind of love but its still as strong in a different way. I'm not judging Cèline, I love her even more after this past week.

Days like this are usually a happy occasion, but this will be RC's first birthday without his Father. Hopefully RC can feel his Dad watching over him today. I hope the family gather together and have a nice day. Maybe they could go on vacation to clear the heads and try to have a good time. Even if it's just for a day or a couple of hours.

As much as I feel terrible about René's passing, for myself, I need to go on and look at the future. I am certain Céline will have the strength and the love around her to give his passing a place.

 

Today I played A New Day Has Come, I must say for me, the album helped me a lot. It is positive, cheerful and happy. I hope Céline can get the same comfort out of her own music like we do.

Well, I admit, it's hard for me to "calm down". The death of René and the deep despair of her, which she showed in those few moments, really hit me deep. It's hard for me to understand some fans, who talk about how beautiful she was, what she was wearing, of why she didn't sing ... or whatever. But then, I remember, that's up to everyone's own life-experiences. Some of you are very young and hadn't to deal with deep love and loss. I'm 53 years old. I'm Céline's fan since 28 years. Her music was part of a lot of mayor steps of my way through life. That music very often spoke those words, which I wasn't able to speak (out of joy or out of grief). And I also lived a similar love story with a man, 15 years older than me - I've lost him too, but not to death - to life, as our ways part. Mainly @ that time I often read/re-read about Célines and Réne's special love story. Their story will be for me FOREVER the symbol that love can conquer all!!

 

Surely, life goes on.

But surely not two days after a funeral. And surely not after seeing a Céline we all never had seen before. Her nine hours standing beside the open casket of the love of her life. Taking condolences stranger by stranger, looking everyone in the eye - until she barly couldn't stand and was shivering - and still she stayed with dignity, noone could assume, how much strength it needed for that. And all these intense moments during the funeral.

 

I'm really sorry. It still gets to me ... :cry:

I have to say that it is comforting to know that all of you are as affected by René's death as I am. They have been in my thoughts since he passed away.

Thanks God they have children - Her reason to go on.

And when they sang together at Daniel wake I think somehow it gave strength to all of them.
