Popular Post Frenchie Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:19 PM Popular Post Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:19 PM I just finished watching the funeral and reading your posts. All I can say is that was a beautiful send off to a loving, caring, and respecting man. I will admit I don't cry often, but man, watching Celine and boys coming in and leaving just tore my heart apart. I cried like a baby then! The moment Celine turned around and said her final good-bye to the church will haunt me. Gut-wrenching. May God be with their family in the upcoming days and weeks! Rene, merci beaucoup for everything!! I am sure your enjoying the company of Karine, Papa Dion, your parents, etc tonight while catching a great Sinatra concert. Everyone here will take care of your family for one night. Merci again! 8 Quote
Popular Post smash Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:20 PM Popular Post Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:20 PM ME TOO ... and still does ... It looked like she was looking back at the Church. Maybe thinking of their wedding, and now Rene"s funeral, and hopefully a word to God. It's going to take time, but with God's help, they will be strong, and be able to carry on having a happy and a good life. Rene will always be in their minds and their hearts, with so many wonderful memories. I love you my precious Celine, even more now, if that is at all possible, for my love for you is overflowing :in_love: Tons and tons of love. Sharon 12 Quote

Shamrock_1982 Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:24 PM Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:24 PM The way she looked back at that church, it was like, it's been a tuff two days here, but we had great memories here also... And for me she was saying goodbye to it and maybe thought to herself I won't be here again until my funeral... Maybe it's just my interpretation, but such a sad but spine tingling moment! 4 Quote
Popular Post LVCeline Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:24 PM Popular Post Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:24 PM Well I'm absolutely drained. My eyes hurt from bawling. It was extremely beautiful even though I didn't understand anything. It was very ceremonious and respectful. Celine and her kids held it together much better than I thought. I hurt and care so much for her. It was so touching that RC gave a little talk. He did very well. Her twins looked absolutely adorable. I started crying before it started, but definitely when Celine and her family arrived (and pretty much through the entire program really). I still can't believe he's gone. I can't imagine how Celine is going to carry on and move forward without Rene. They have pretty much always just been one to me, you can't have one without the other. I know she'll find the strength to move on, I just feel so bad it can't be with the love of her life anymore. 10 Quote
Popular Post Modesta Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:24 PM Popular Post Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:24 PM I'm relatively ok now. I had to take two painkillers to stop the headache.. I can't even remember when I've last cried this much. It took almost half an hour for me to calm down after the funeral had ended It was as if some huge dam had broken inside me crazy, I know. I'm just glad I have you guys to share this with 13 Quote

A final show as somebody said? Im just amazed by it...... I think he chose to have us all see it, not for him but for Celine . He knew that would endear Celine even more to her fans and he wanted that. That's why they went public about the cancer, the IVF, everything he knows the closer the fans feel to her the bigger and more she is loved she is by U.S. It was a genius move really as a husband , and as manager. I Drove All Night! Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:26 PM Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:26 PM Why do you guys think Rene chose to broadcast it to all of us the world? Was it a final gift to fans? A final show as somebody said? Im just amazed by it...... I think there were a number of reasons he chose for it to be so open: 1. It removes the chance of pictures/videos being leaked to the press, which I'm sure would be difficult for Celine and the family.2. It gives the fans a chance to mourn3. It gives Celine the chance to share this very important moment with her fans, she has always been an open book and I"m sure Rene knew it would help the grieving process for her. 7 Quote

She was wearing her engagement ring on her right hand, at the end of the funeral before the processions she removed hers and Rene's wedding bands from the pillow and put them both on her left hand. 3 Quote

Cheri Marie Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:32 PM Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:32 PM I finally got home in time to watch the last hour of today's service. What I did see was beautiful and heartbreaking. I did watch yesterday for about the last two hours. Celine and Rene Charles had the same looks on their faces, like a deer in the headlights. I feel so bad for that family, it just makes you want to hug them and then feed them big meals. The twins were so well behaved for kids in a long church service. Especially at their age. My kids would have ripped the hats off, tossed them around, squirmed in their seats and then beat each other with the hats. She must be very proud of all of her boys. Also, am I just seeing her so thin because she is dressed in black or does it seem to others that she has lost a bit of weight? Which wouldn't surprise me at all. 5 Quote
infiniti Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:33 PM Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:33 PM I did not realize live stream video was frozen so some of it in the church I watched thinking camera was not moving but saw the outside church part. Quote Celine ~

duchess83 Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:35 PM Posted January 22, 2016 at 11:35 PM Thank you all so much for posting and sharing how you feel. I don't have many words to sum up the empathy and sadness, and the gratitude I feel right now for René and the whole family. Funerals fascinate me. They are so difficult, but when done well they are such an important part of saying goodbye. Today's service was solemn and beautiful and I'm glad we were allowed to share it. 1 Quote

It's hard to judge. Since the broadcast was done by a Canadian television station they just might not have called attention to the Americans. We don't know for sure who was in attendance... I mean the church was packed! Quote
