The René Angélil legacy

Just finished watching it. It was really a beautiful funeral, can i use that word? I loved how the people started clapping and whisteling and shouting as though they were at a consert of hers, when they were walking out behind the coffin. It sort of took away a tiny bit of the sadness for just a few minutes. It was very emotional for me.

Sharon.

I agree, the applause and whistling was very uplifting.

That was a beautiful ceremony. The ending was just perfect and I love that she did what she did to the coffin at the end. It was a very touching tribute! I wish her and her family all the best for this next week.

I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!

I tried to decode what she wrote on the casket, and it definitely starts with a "L" It's probably L.V. or Love, since the word seems to be a short one.

So much emotion I can't stop crying.

I bet something in French, She is Québécoise after all

So, I just turned on my music in my phone on shuffle for the first time since the funeral, and MHWGO came on. Sad, but what a perfect sing for today :(

That was everyone's way of saying goodbye / celebrating his life because more than likely 99% ion attendance won't go to the burial.

Wow over 250 posts missed. I shut down all social media to just watch the service alone. I am so glad to have been part of it. It was a beautiful service and René has done a great job making his final show unforgettable.

For me the songs really got me. I just chocked when Trois Heures Vingt started... I have a feeling Jimmy and that girl were the ones who carried the rings 21 years ago... I thought that was a very sweet gesture.... placing the same cushion but now on a coffin made me so sad. I think Patrick and especially RC did a great job honouring their father. But the moment Therese hugged Céline after LAEE.. that killed me!

Céline is a strong woman, but now I just saw an empty shell of the vibrant woman she is. She must be totally drained after this horrifying week. She was just staring in the distance. I hope she won't have a nervous breakdown after tomorrow. BUT seeing her with her family, the Dions and the Angelils made me proud. René gave her a strong family base that will always support and love her no matter what.

This is also true for all us fans, I am proud of us too. Céline is the best thing that could have happened to us and we know how to show that.

And in a way we all owe it to the gambler... I hope they have poker tables upstairs! :merci: René.

Deadly post thank you !!! :flowers: Made me smile !!

Whose ring did she take from the pillow? Was it her's or Rene's? I couldn't tell because I was busy crying my eyes out. I thought it was a really sweet that Rene thought of doing that. It just goes to show how intuned the were with each other and how much he loved her.

Trois heures vingt (Patrick Lemaitre / Eddy Marnay)

Tu veux m'emmener loin d'ici

Tout est prévu tu as tout arrangé

Pour demain dans l'après-midi

J'ai mes parents qui m'attendent

Ne t'en fais pas je viendrai

Puisque toujours, où tu vas

Je vais

Je viendrai

Trois heures vingt, place d'Italie

Translation (Thanks to "www.celinedionweb.com")

I told you no, it meant nothing

I was still very scared yesterday

I needed time to think

I was still very young yesterday

But don't pull a face

It will be fine you know

Since in the end, where you go

I go

We leave together, ok, it's decided

You want to take me far from here

Everything is planned you set everything

For tomorrow in the afternoon

My parents are waiting for me

Don't worry I will come

Since always, where you go

I go

I will come

Twenty past three, Italy square

I will come

Not later than half

I will come, of course

I will come, for sure

Do not fear

I will come

I will come

Twenty past three, I did understand

I will come

Not later than half

No chance, it is said

Of changing my mind

Do not fear

I will come

Don't worry I trust you

You never fail

And then you know, where you go

I go

She took both and put them both on her ring finger. So beautiful and meaningful.

is there also Patrick's one? I loved that he finished with 'tout va être correct' in Rene's voice :innocent:

I am not sure about Patrick's.

How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Posted (edited)

Once again, René has shown the world how it's done.

He planned every detail and it was all so meaningful. I only realised afterwards that the song Trois Heures Vingt (3 hours 20) is the actual time when Céline and her children were walking into the basilica.

When Céline's songs were playing I couldn't hold it. :cry1: And I'm not one to cry easily.

I'm glad I could see the funeral (even if I was not sure it was a good idea a few days ago).

May you rest in peace René. You won't be forgotten.

MERCI CHAMPION!

Anyone else notice that Rene's children also had a purple flower on their suits

Yes I agree Vic. I was so glad it was shown to the pubic and especially us fans. We all feel as close to Rene as we do Celine, it is our loss as well. It will be so difficult to hear Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore live when she tours this summer.

He had a very good life, he accomplished so much, and is so well respected in all facets of his life. It is truly a life to be celebrated.

Oh the twins. :( I'm not too sure they understood all of that.

Patrick's speech is available on the TVA website but I can't watch it as I'm outside of their country.

RC - oh RC.

That was probably the saddest thing I've ever watched. Still in tears. The amount of love and respect for them is at an all time high. The hardest part was hearing Celine's songs because I haven't listened to any of them since he died that and her putting on both their wedding rings. Totally got me.
