celine4evauk Posted January 17, 2016 at 11:31 PM Posted January 17, 2016 at 11:31 PM I was wondering if when she taped this performance they already knew about the cancer issue... Such a sad song to sing and this one... I don't know when this was filmed, but I'm thinking they didn't because it aired the day after they found out. So I'm thinking no. Quote

LVCeline Posted January 18, 2016 at 12:22 AM Posted January 18, 2016 at 12:22 AM I still can't believe all this is happening. It was just so sudden. I know he's been sick, but it just came out of nowhere. Celine and Rene have practically been one unit her entire career. They have rarely been apart, and when you think of one you think of the other. I'm so sick thinking about what her and her kids are going through right now. I feel so bad that his time here on earth has come to an end and Celine has to move forward without him. That his younger kids don't get to grow up with his physical presence. He was her biggest fan her entire career. He was with her every step of the way. It makes me so sad that she has no real close male presence for the first time in her life. No father, no husband. She's a widow at 47. No more car rides together to and from the coliseum, nobody there to fall asleep with at night. I'm just devastated for her. I know she's got the kids to help her, and staff, but I feel like losing him will make her feel completely alone. I felt comfortable knowing Rene was there to take care of her and protect her, and now he's gone. I wish with everything in me I could give celine a giant hug, I feel so sick for her. I'm sure she's grown stronger this last year taking care of him, and probably has some sense of closure, but I'm still very sad that he's no longer with her. 6 Quote

spunkransum Posted January 18, 2016 at 01:47 AM Posted January 18, 2016 at 01:47 AM I'm just guessing by this tweet there was an autopsy done otherwise I can't see how the coroner could have said this. Please correct me if I'm wrongNorm Clarke @Norm_Clarke Jan 14Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg on Rene Angelil cause of death: He died of squamous carcinoma on floor of the mouth. #CelineDion #RJNowThe coroner just pronounces someone dead when they die at home, they go to the body to see if it was natural causes or if they think it was murder or suicide etc. The medical examiner or pathologist is who actually performs an autopsy to see why they died, coroners can be medical examiners but they are not always especially in smaller towns it's usually a doctor who's a coroner. Furthermore if Rene was dying from the cancer he would have been like Daniel and had a few days again I am basing this off of my experience in long term care sudden deaths nine out of ten times come from a heart issue or a aneurysm, Celine wouldn't have performed those shows either if he was actively dying from the cancer. The coroner also has to have a cause of death to pronounce him and stating his cancer was the easiest way of doing that as it was the primary cause of his sickness I don't know about Nevada however in my state of Alabama a autopsy doesn't have to be performed as long as they have a cause of death and knowing what actually killed him would of just become a circus on the media and creating more tabloid gossip. sfbaysinger Posted January 18, 2016 at 02:12 AM Posted January 18, 2016 at 02:12 AM I think one thing none of us saw coming is how affected her music will be for a lot of us. It is like listening to new albums, discovering new old, old new friends all over again. I have not, as some of you know, been able to hear her since this news because I feel like instead of the beauty/amazingness/purity of her voice, all I will hear is her loss and the surrounding sadness. I know, that's not what Rene would want. I don't even think that's what she would want. But in English anyway, and in the French songs I have managed to learn/translate/understand, there are those tiny little lines that just sneak up on us. Like, even in casual conversation someone mentioned the line, If I lost you would I cry. Well, in the past, how many of us would have just thought nothing of that line, unless of course we've had personal experience with death/loss that colors that? We all just went about listening to her like everything was normal, and, it was. But we had blinders, lenses, filters, softeners on. Not anymore. We're being hit bluntly and sharply with the raw, uncensored truth now, and for me at least, it will take some time to adjust to the punch her lyrics pack. Maybe 99 percent of you think I am being dramatic/making a big freaking deal out of nothing. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but a lot of her songs are difficult to hear now. That's a small price to pay considering what she is going through, most everything I think is a big deal in my life really turns out to be nothing in the light of her experiences now. But I just had to say this. 4 Quote L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine! L'amour existe encore pour elle!
Samantha-Jayne Posted January 18, 2016 at 03:24 AM Posted January 18, 2016 at 03:24 AM Oh dear Lord! This is the first I heard that Rene has passed away. I haven't been here for a while as I am struggling to cope with losing my own beloved husband (37 years age difference), and still can't listen to a lot of Celine's music because of the association ie, our wedding song was 'because you loved me'. One day though, I expect I will get great comfort from these songs. God bless you Celine, my heart is breaking for you and your family. It can sometimes be almost too much to bear. Be strong xxxxx 6 Quote

Since Rene was receiving terminal/end of life care the coroner would not be involved unless the family wanted an autopsy. With the families/patients I work with if hospice is involved (or private physician) the physician/hospice already knows it's a natural death. I'm guessing because Rene is a celebrity that the coroner coordinated to release a statement because the media loves a good story. Quote
