CelineDionFreak Posted January 16, 2016 at 12:59 PM Posted January 16, 2016 at 12:59 PM I was just wondering. I know this would be incredibly difficult for Celine to do, but do you guys think she might sing a song for Rene at his funeral? I know that would be asking a lot, but I think Rene would want that. Celine is his favorite singer on earth and nothing made him happier then hearing her sing. I wouldn't be surprised if Rene requested that Celine sing something in tribute at his funeral. It would be such a tough thing to do, but Celine is a tough cookie and I can't help but think that Celine would want to do this for him.I don't know. I kinda think that she won't sing a song becuase of the perfectionist she is. This is her love her rock whose funeral she's in... And to me it just seems asking her to sing is a mess waiting to happen. This is just my thoughts of course 1 Quote I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!Le temps qui compte pour Celine est maintenant!
scielle Posted January 16, 2016 at 01:44 PM Posted January 16, 2016 at 01:44 PM If it's affected us so deeply - people who have only known the man from TV screens and magazine pages - I can't imagine the pain Celine must be going through. Does she even remember life before Rene? Sure, she must have been preparing for this for a long time - it's probably been on the back of her mind ever since Rene's heart attack in LA so long ago. But knowing it, and living the reality of it, are very different things. Her devotion to this man has always been the one thing I loved most about her. More than anything she ever sang or said. It's the kind of relationship most of us can only aspire to and it's always been so beautiful and inspiring. And I love her F-U attitude to all the haters about it, I loved the "I could care less what you think of him or our age difference or anything else people who don't know him can find fault with... screw you all, I adore this man, deal with it". As Sarah Boesveld so aptly said, "There is something wonderful about ignoring those who cast judgment over a relationship that does not, on the face of it, fit the script. That kind of perseverance demands a self-knowledge that is impenetrable to the bullets of critics." And I always hugely respected that. I can't imagine how she's going to get through this. How she's going to get up on that stage on Feb. 23rd. She truly did lose her other half. Poor thing. 2 Quote

I just hope it won't turn into a circus. As you know, the haters will certainly have more material for even more negative comments... As John reminded me yesterday, René was and always will be a showman. He always dreamed big (the Vegas show is a good example). They wanted the funeral at the Basilica in Montreal, so clearly they were already planning something big. So the fact that it will be a state funeral doesn't entirely change their plans, it just means that it will be televised and that there probably will be more chance for the public to be part of the event. I think Celine and Rene knew that because of their decision to live their lives as 'open book', René's death would attract interest and fans would want to pay their respects. From all the things outlined in the official announcement, it seems they had planned with that in mind. 6 Quote

For those of us who can't be there, if it is indeed televised, it's a way for us to feel connected to Celine and to pay our respects. And this is something that I "need" as well. It'll be painful to see Celine and the children, but I thoroughly believe that in some small way, at least for me anyway, it'll allow me to grieve and begin the path towards acceptance and healing. Popular Post Alex_Incognito Posted January 16, 2016 at 04:21 PM Popular Post Posted January 16, 2016 at 04:21 PM I wish fans would stop speculating career moves. Clearly the decision to come back to showbusiness was done so in anticipation of Rene's passing. Let's leave this decision to Celine. They wouldn't have booked dates in France, Belgium, and Canada just to have them cancel. This is for Rene, and if Celine is indeed doing this all for Rene...that's beautiful. 13 Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

Jeffieboi Posted January 16, 2016 at 04:38 PM Posted January 16, 2016 at 04:38 PM First I just want to wish René a happy birthday. Let's not forget that even though we had a great loss two days ago....today still would have been his 4th birthday. Second, with the news of Celine's brother being gravely ill as well...I just don't know what to feel. Celine was/is always my source of happiness....but now I'm depressed. I think of her and I'm depressed. It's of course more for her than for me, but I'm just so confused as to how I'm supposed to feel. I fell in love with Celine back in 1996, which means I also had a deep unconditional love for René. His death changes my life. Certainly not to the degree it does for Celine, but I'm sure we can all agree that as die hard fans.....this is a huge HUGE deal to us. As a community, I think we should do something. IDK what, but I just want to be there for her so bad, as I'm sure we all do. I just wanted to vent in the one place that I knew everyone would understand where I was coming from. Quote

Celinenvegas Posted January 16, 2016 at 05:27 PM Posted January 16, 2016 at 05:27 PM (edited) I cannot imagine how depressing that would feel to hear the news in an airport, while leaving Las Vegas, the very place where they are. So sad. Instead you must have wanted to stay in Las Vegas to feel closer to Celine.Rene is not gone! He remains with Celine and the 3 boys. Yeah, I felt good leaving Vegas after 2 great shows and my time at Caesars. I was really in shock when I read the text at the Denver airport, not processing it in my mind until I got settled on the plane and had time to reflect on it all. It probably would've been harder to be in Vegas and seeing the sign about the cancelled shows and the tribute to Rene on the marquee - I surely would've lost it. I had a perfect view of that marquee from my hotel room window. Edited January 16, 2016 at 05:29 PM by Celinenvegas Quote ~J O E Y~
celine4evauk Posted January 16, 2016 at 05:36 PM Posted January 16, 2016 at 05:36 PM I saw some backlash about the national funeral though (people were saying Celine should pay for it rather than the taxpayers). I thought it was confirmed that there would be a private ceremony in Canada, then a public one in LV? It does make me laugh. What about all the money "Celine Dion" has put into Canada's economy, tourism, charities etc?? Funny how people forget about stuff like that isn't it? There's always people moaning about things like that though. 6 Quote
