So I'm prob gonna ask a dumb question so forgive me. I was only 3 when Celine and Rene got married so I have no clue was their wedding fully broadcast on tv? I've seen bits and pieces but I'm not sure if it was broadcast. And with the funeral also being held there I'm kinda curious

 

I've always wanted to see it too. Nowadays more then ever. Does anyone have it please???? René, we all loved you so much. You're love with Celine has always been a source of inspiration for me and I'll always remember you two so in love and happy together!

Celine's brother passed away today from cancer

 

I can't imagine the multitude of grief and loss. God's grace & comfort be with the family now.

In terms of plans for Rene, or anything about any of this, the last thing anyone on earth needs is someone (close friend or family, total stranger, or otherwise) telling them how to handle the funeral, or grief, or anything about any of this. A family's choices are made from love and should be left to them in their entirety (and how sad that it even needs to be said).

 

Everyone has their own process and the last thing anyone needs is commentary about any choice at a time like this. If people want to comment on the family's choices there isn't anything to stop it--but it would say more about the commentators and their nature then anyone who loves and cares for Rene and his family. This more then ever is about Rene and his family. His family is strong, supportive, and caring.

 

It sounds like his passing, like his life, was surrounded by love. We can only pray that love helps sustain his entire family at this time and helps with peace and comfort.

 

What an extraordinary person Rene was, is, and will remain.

I've been sat here for the last 20 minutes trying to find the words... but there just really aren't any. Just sadness, and grief and the deep sense that somethings things feel very wrong with the world. What can we do? Only pray. For Celine. For RC and Eddy and Nelson. For the rest of the family.

 

Rest in peace Rene and Daniel. The world is a darker place without you, but the lights in heaven shine just that little bit brighter.

Part of me keeps thinking we'll wake up and this will just have been a bad dream...like he just went on a long vacation or for treatment again, or the cancer took a really bad toll/turn and he lost a little more but he's still here, even if barely. It's beginning to sink in, and now this. I know Celine is probably the toughest, strongest person i know, but she needs a break/ease now. I agree, it feels like what is wrong with this horribly effed up planet? What are we doing to it/ourselves/each other? "Since the world has lost her way...yet the promised chance remains, the gift of what could be." I know I for one do not see it at this time...but it has to be out there somewhere, if not buried inside us.

It's being hard week for the Dion family, specially for Céline I guess... My thoughts are also on her children and Thérese, which losing Réne (I'm sure she has really felt for him so much) and now losing one of her sons... It has to be devastating.

 

When I knew the news was before going to bed on the same day that happened and I was at shock... No response. Next day I was having breakfast crying. Couldn't help thinking about their love story, how much they loved and how much respect they shared each other. These days I'm watching older interviews and I'm discovering them again from another point of view. The same things happens listening to her songs...

 

At the same time, I believe Céline was more than prepared for this. I think Réne, as the manager he has been all her life and at the same time taking care of Céline, has arranged the whole thing. He couldn't leave this world without leaving everything tied up. Céline is a strong woman, she has proved it many times and knew this would happen anytime soon. I'm sure she'll be fine.

My uncle died from throat cancer last August aged 63 we also had to wait 3 weeks for his funeral.

Celine is EVERYWHERE in the media right now and this story is so big! I'm so happy that everyone is so supportive

Sorry to go off topic, but three weeks! That's a long time! Is that common in the UK? Here it's stated by law that the burial or cremation may not take place in the first 36 hrs after death, but must take place at latest on the 6th workday after death.
