Nmj Posted January 19, 2016 at 10:48 PM Posted January 19, 2016 at 10:48 PM I can't begin to imagine what she and the entire family are going through this week, but let's not also forget how incredibly strong she is and on the day she will be at her strongest for their boys! I hugely admire her strength, faith, and positivity no matter what life has in store... It's remarkable and inspiring. Not that she won't be grieving because of course she will, but she's a strong women and at the funeral I'm sure she will put on a strong face as much a possible. Also it will be just a bit easier since it will 8 days since Renés passing. Quote

mirage Posted January 19, 2016 at 11:08 PM Posted January 19, 2016 at 11:08 PM Yup... You don't need to watch it. Same here when a royalty has passed away the funeral and everything will be showed live on tv. Their is nothing wrong or weird about it.If celine didn't want it to be shown or whatever then their would be a statement about it. Its the other side of the 'famous medal' You can decide if you want to watch it or not.I, will watch it. Why? Because I need it. I want to see it. I want to live it. And because I know it will be shown in the most decent and respectful way they can. They will show tears, and smiles. And if someone falls apart they won't zoom in on that. It's their choice, and it's the other side of their famous life. 7 Quote

First of all, I am not criticizing Celine's decisions, I am just voicing my opinion on the funeral being televised. I just don't want the media to have a field day with this and put pictures of Rene's coffin on the cover of magazines, with Celine and her family in tears. So, I'm sorry if my concerns about Celine's family privacy getting splashed everywhere in the stores is annoying to you. I'm just voicing my opinions. You don't have to agree with them, but you also don't have to tell me to shut up. We don't need to take things to that level on this forum, especially in a topic where people are grieving along with Celine. scielle Posted January 20, 2016 at 01:09 PM Posted January 20, 2016 at 01:09 PM I don't have a problem with the funeral being aired. It's a state affair, after all, and state funerals are televised. That's the deal. And it's generally done very tastefully, by legit reporters, with respect for the families. I think it's far less weird than the wedding having been televised. And I'm sure it's nice for Celine to know Rene was so highly respected that Quebec would make such an offer. What I do find disheartening is that a lot of the coverage is now getting so crass and sensationalist. The tabloids, the nightly entertainment shows...they really ARE selling it as entertainment. And come on, the woman is in pain, let her grieve with dignity for god's sake! 5 Quote

sfbaysinger Posted January 20, 2016 at 03:33 PM Posted January 20, 2016 at 03:33 PM The problem is, the tabloids and nightly entertainment shows are going to sell/sensationalize this tragedy whether the funeral is aired or not. Granted, they'll do it more so if it is, so I do see that point. Here's the flip side though; some people need/want to watch the funeral for their own closure as well. I'm still reading posts by people saying they're still numb/inshock/don't yet believe it. I, as a blind person, do not find seeing things to help, obviously, but some people do. Such motions really cement/solidify that, indeed, most sorrowfully, that person truly is gone. So I see both sides of this, but here is my ultimate stance on it: no one's opinion can match/compare to that of Rene's final wishes. For all we know, they may have discussed this already previously, or, she believes this is how he would want it. If either of those are the case, no opinion can or will counter that. She cares about us, but she will move mountains, no song quote intended, to see that his final wishes stand head and shoulders above anything else. I think we're all loving and big-hearted enough here to honor that. It's human nature to have disagreements, clashing personalities and needs/wants that don't click or gel. But of all moments in the life of Celine fandom, this is the one for us to bring our best, greatest and brightest selves to the table and grieve together. We have the choice to divide or unite, and this is the time to be one heart, in unison. Ok, now that I did on purpose. LOL I'm not saying anyone here isn't already doing that, it's easy to get in to little squabbles, we all do it. All families do, no matter how functional. Let's just see what happens, it has only been six days since Rene died and it feels like a month or so to me. 1 Quote L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine! L'amour existe encore pour elle!
