Angel2006 Posted January 20, 2016 at 11:00 PM Posted January 20, 2016 at 11:00 PM I am very confused because I get the TVA channel on my t.v., but it's not showing Rene's funeral at 2:00pm or at anytime throughout the day on my guide. It just shows some French movie from 2004. I even tried typing up Rene's funeral in my guide search on my t.v. and nothing came up. Maybe it's not updated yet or something. I guess I will have to watch the online link provided on the forum and just watch the CBC footage on my t.v. Quote

I Drove All Night! Posted January 21, 2016 at 12:07 AM Posted January 21, 2016 at 12:07 AM I second the idea of having a separate topic that has all the funeral viewing information in one post-or perhaps it can be added to the first post on this thread? I've been trying to figure out time zone stuff too which is really tough. Personally, I have been trying to just keep my mind occupied with other things (luckily work is really busy right now so that's been a good distraction), to avoid thinking about the reality that Rene really is gone. In the end I know I'm going to want to watch the funeral to get some closure and peace of mind. I can't believe Céline is going to stay at the Chapel of Rest for 7 hours, she is such an amazing woman! I really hope they get a big turn out, I just looked at flights to Montreal for tomorrow and they're around $900... safe to say I won't be able to make it. I really wish I could be there. 2 Quote
Nmj Posted January 21, 2016 at 12:14 AM Posted January 21, 2016 at 12:14 AM They just spoke about Celine on ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT. They played " Goodbyes The Saddest Word" in the background. They showed video of Elton John last night in Las Vegas dedicating his show to Celine. They said that they will ( as in Entertainment Tonight) there tomorrow and Friday for the funeral and have coverage. And here's the heartbreaker they said, Celine's taking it bad, but even worse is that Rene Charles (RC) is by far taking it worse than any family members. :( 7 Quote

We all know that Celine has said RC is very protective of his dad... Today I was finally starting to feel a little bit better about all of this... thinking about how strong Céline is and that she truly will "love the kids enough for the both of them," I know that she will get through this and continue to do amazing things to honor Rene. But I also know the kids are devastated... and now I'm right back to square one. 4 Quote
takeachance Posted January 21, 2016 at 12:37 AM Posted January 21, 2016 at 12:37 AM This could be a stupid question but What will be happening in the chapel of rest? Is it like people shaking hands with the family? Hardly fans will be allowed come in and shake hands with Celine to sympathise? I dont really understand what it means? can someone explain? thanks Quote http://i66.tinypic.com/2dk08jn.gifRIP Rene Angelil xx Sending Love and Prayers to Celine

Too many crazies that wouldn't be able to put aside how excited they are to meet her. It's not a time to be excited about anything 8 Quote

Is it like people shaking hands with the family? Hardly fans will be allowed come in and shake hands with Celine to sympathise? I dont really understand what it means? can someone explain? thanks I'm assuming there will be an open casket and the public is welcome to file through and pay their respects. Based on the description I would say fans are definitely going to be allowed to come through. Often times family members are kind of "lined up" and there for people to say their condolences to. Due to the circumstances of this being such a famous family I'm sure Céline and RC won't be "available" for the public to interact with, or at least I hope they're not. I'm picturing them being seated somewhere visible but "out of reach" from the public.... Quote
takeachance Posted January 21, 2016 at 12:53 AM Posted January 21, 2016 at 12:53 AM (edited) Ya I am thinking she wont be in reach of the public really as crazy fans would go bezerk!! It wouldnt be right and she will be with her kids anyway and that wouldnt be fair on them or celine, they are grieving. How is she gunna be there though for 7 hours? that makes me think that people will be shaking her hand? How is she gunna cope being there for that long !!??, im sure they will organise it in a certain way that is right....... I just hope crazy fans behave themselves. 2 Quote

I dont really understand what it means? can someone explain? thanks I truly know nothing about how it's done in Canada.I myself am Greek Orthodox so for us it's a bit different but I'm just guessing it's the equivalent to lying in state. So basically members of the public will be able to pass by the coffin and pay their final respects. If Celine is there with RC she may do it the way it was done when the Queen Mother died and her grandsons stood guard around her coffin as members of the public went past and payed their final respects. A short video to give you an idea of what it may look like. Again I could be totally wrong.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYQt73zqkOo Edited January 21, 2016 at 01:04 AM by Kristinaz 1 Quote

She's a lot stronger than some people give her credit for. Just like she's a lot smarter than many people (including here) give her credit for. 14 Quote
Popular Post scielle Posted January 21, 2016 at 01:23 AM Popular Post Posted January 21, 2016 at 01:23 AM (edited) Ugh. These tabloids need to go away. Nobody needs to see this. Let the woman mourn. On a separate note, here's a nice piece about Rene from The Walrus: http://thewalrus.ca/swan-song/ For the uninitiated, The Walrus is kind of like Canada's New Yorker, or Harper's. A proper literary magazine, which is why I'm happy to see this piece. A refreshing change from the usual entertainment press. Edited January 21, 2016 at 01:32 AM by scielle 8 Quote
Nmj Posted January 21, 2016 at 01:23 AM Posted January 21, 2016 at 01:23 AM Many times when grieving this kind of loss, one will cry so much that it literally hurts to cry. And you also can have moments of laughs and uplifting and then the sorrow hits usually again. I just hope it gets easier. 1 Quote
québecflower Posted January 21, 2016 at 01:30 AM Posted January 21, 2016 at 01:30 AM i would just like to say that people in Quebec are ordinary quite respectful, and are able to behave. It would be surprising to see a lack of étiquette. 7 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....
