Compare this two... Tonight's performance is 100 times better... Her voice is much much richer, plus at the end the strings play in a twirl with her voice... Perfection. Even better than the CD's version.

 

And the beginning of Je T'aime Encore at the very end of the video?!! Can't wait to hear the full thing. It's sounds like in the 1F&T recording sessions in Paris, truly relaxed.

Still can't get over the fact how great they could be (coming up with so many rare French songs) and how lazy/tasteless they can be (same English songs, with the same arrangements, same medleys) at the same time

 

Because many fans want them. Read others wishing there was All By Myself, Destin and other songs she sang plenty of times.

You xannot avoid the hits. But true they could change the arrangements. That will be Scott's assignement for next time

Okay, so being objective here, I think the acoustic segment needs work. I LOVE the fact "Tous les secrets" was added, and it's one of my favorites of hers, but it seemed out of place.

 

I love TLS! And I love they included it but I agree, something could be improved... In my opinion it was not maybe out of place but too slow in general, wasn't it?

 

Actually if they added Le temps qui compte while having TLS and so many 1f4t songs, I'd be somewhere better than heaven

Oh my god people oh my god!!!! I just got back home from work and saw the whole setlist and am in shock!!!!! I can't believe she did so many amazing songs, I really can't. This show better be put on DVD or I'll be screwed! I can't see this tour and I so want to see it in HQ DVD. I am in total shock and amazement at the risks Aldo took, and they payed off. Brava Céline brava!!!

I cannot believe she sang Tous les blues sont écrits pour toi! If that doesn't make it in the setlist for Montreal, I will be heartbroken.

 

Like a few others have mentioned, I kind of hope that there is more from DCP for Canada, too. As much as I love that they suddenly discovered 1F4T (Ne bouge pas! ), it does feel a bit strange not to have more from SA (no PAMP?!) or D'elles. And I know everyone else is probably over it, but since Montreal will be my first francophone show, I selfishly would love to hear more from D'eux. Maybe just Regarde-moi, or perhaps Cherche encore or Destin in the acoustic medley?

 

Definitely impressed that they went for such unexpected songs. It shows that they're willing to branch out more than in the past. Can't wait for August!

But she has more hits, It doesn't have to be always TPOL/IACBTMN/BYLM/ABM/RDMH/LCMM.... it could be TT/I/TH/TLYM/FIY/TTWII/ANDHC/IA/IDAN/SLS (yes, that's not a hit:P). She didn't sing RDMH for a very long time (from the 90s till late 2006) nor did she do ABM (from the 90s till TCWT in 2008) and nobody protested they have been revived. It was something new then. And we need a move like these two now, desperately...

Honestly, I didn't even factor in his health condition. (Maybe I'm still so overwhelmed by all the great material added to this tour?) I just have, and have had, a hard time believing Rene was more artistic than the image he portrayed. He always put himself more has a business guy to get things done. I don't recall, at least in English, ever seeing him talk openly about his role in picking songs, etc. Save the time he flat out rejected Celine's idea of opening her Vegas show with "My Heart Will Go On."

 

Rene was an artist himself - JJG has said several times that that's what made Rene unique - being an artist as well as a businessman. He cried all the time at her singing, even 30 years in and seeing a trillion shows, so I don't think he ever projected a business-only vibe. There are a million examples of his being involved in song choices through the years, so I'm actually really surprised to see what you wrote -- off the top of my head, I immediately think of: his wanting Celine to do NMQP for a good decade before she agreed; his pushing for This Time bc of the subject matter; his pushing for MHWGO when Celine initially didn't like it; how he loved TCOML and convinced David Foster to give it to Celine; how they cried together on first hearing PQTME; how he first told her about Je Nai Pas Besoin DAmour. They've talked many times about how he'd review each show with her afterwards and give her suggestions. How he wanted to drop TLYM from the FIY tour but they did a phone hookup so could hear the audience reaction and so they kept it.

 

Rene has always been very, very involved at the artistic level.

maybe some songs should retire, but there was abondance of new stuff, and there is still the same people asking for some changes. Those songs are there for a reason. A set list can't be all to your liking, it is a matter of pleasing the most people not just you . It is simple to understand.

 

I concur.

 

A setlist is a delicate balance. They achieved that tonight. I am happy :-)

People can say what they want on here about the song, but judging by how the crowd is reacting, "River Deep, Mountain High" isn't going anywhere anytime soon. They are loving it. Oh, well. LOL

 

I know I know but it's a killer song.

 

If I remember correctly JJG fell in love with Celine's voice when he saw a tape of her singing this on a US show.

 

René loved the song. And she rocks it so well. She should do a clasic rock album !
