They need to get a renowned audio engineer like Bob Clearmountain to do her live mixes, to bring them back to something much more genuine - things were fine pre-2007. In ACDS and in 2002 a little 'polishing' was evident on her vocals, but it was never offensive or robotic like it is now. I honestly think Productions J have done a terrible job with the sound, especially most recently with USF where CD1 fades out and CD2 doesn't fade in, and vocals were double-autotuned for the DVD release after already being treated for the TV broadcast. CNQR and IACBTMN now have false notes where they didn't before, and MHWGO has some strange popping on one of the notes despite it being a playback meaning no treatment was even required. Here is an example of a live Bob Clearmountain audio mix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7wgPdn6HZQ Edited May 10, 2016 at 08:26 PM by Timster 1 Quote

Javito Posted May 10, 2016 at 09:11 PM Posted May 10, 2016 at 09:11 PM (edited) Huh? Yes her music is in demand. Especially her francophone music based on how much Sans Attendre sold. This is why she releases an album now, 4 years after her previous French release. Pretty much what she's been doing since 1987. I might as well say that the so-called jail solely exists in your head. But I had missed that kinda of funny drama, I give you that. I say jail because ever since she started her Vegas adventure, that has only isolated her from the music industry and that marked the start of her international career decline. Coincidence or not, radios around the world stopped playing her music since 2003. So I use the word "jail" for a reason Vegas was the best decision for her personal life, nobody questions that, but it was the worst decision for her international career, which was in its best moment in 2002 and she condemned it to the oblivion outside Canada and France. Has it ever occured to you that these songs were unreleased for a reason? Like being bad? Cause I thought about this given the fact her English albums are 1/3 filler songs. Yeees. But everytime someone says this, I remember the case of MHWGO: Céline herself didn't want to record this song because she thought it was bad (or not good enough), and the song came to be her biggest hit and one of the most successful songs ever in History. So saying that her unreleased songs remain unreleased because they are bad is not a valid point. Also, we won't ever know if they're good or not as long as they remain unreleased. We've seen several examples of great songs that deserved to be on the standard album (like Would I Know, All Because Of You, Map To My Heart) and they were rejected in favour of other crap songs that were thought to be better (and they are crap, like I've Got Nothing Left, New Dawn, A Song For You...) We can't trust Céline's (or her team) nose with good or bad songs because it has failed enough times, either rejecting good songs as b-sides or also picking the wrong songs as singles (Goodbye's The Saddest Word, anyone? ) Finally, these unreleased songs were recorded for a purpose: to be released. Not to be kept in a drawer. Let the fans judge if they're good or not and give them a treat when you are silent for two years, Céline! Edited May 10, 2016 at 09:14 PM by Javito 1 Quote "Hush, now... Dear... do you know how many things are wrong in this paragraph? Radios stopped playing Celine in 2002. Same year they didn't support Mariah and Whitney. Just check the peak positions of I'm Alive and Goodbye (The Saddest Word). Her international career was in its best moment from 1996 to 2000. 2002? Nope. This was just the last time Celine released a relevant English album, but far from being her peak. It is the fact that Rene forsaw the decline of record sales in general that made him focus on residency shows. Not the other way around. Oblivion outside Canada and France? Last time I checked she scored platinum or multiplatinum albums in UK, US and Africa. Also selling out arenas. Edited May 10, 2016 at 09:26 PM by LukeD 1 Quote

I don't think it's fair to say that Vegas ruined her international career. Cèline and Rene chose to make less albums and not promote them. They chose to do 270 shows a year. They chose to not tour while in Vegas. Also her international isn't dead. When you say international career I believe you are saying outside North America. Explain to me how LMBTL album had more success in places like The UK or Lebanon than the USA, the very place Cèline was since 2002. I get that you don't agree with her choice to do Vegas, but to say it ruined her international career is over the top. Cèline is now more popular in Europe, Asia and The Middle East than North America. With the Exception of Quebec. 2 Quote

I'm Alive was also hugely played around the globe. GTSW wasn't played because it wasn't obviously a radio-friendly song and it was a stupid decision as a single. But you can't be serious to say that radios stopped playing Celine in 2002, where she and her album were everywhere thanks to the huge promotion it had. It is the fact that Rene forsaw the decline of record sales in general that made him focus on the residency show. Not the other way around Now... and I suppose you had direct line with René and the man himself told you that, right? For God's sake, Céline and René went to LV and stablished there simply because they wanted to start a family and they did not want to travel the world anymore with a newborn, simple as that, and as they told countless time before, during and after the Vegas residency with A New Day. Can you mention any interview where either René or Céline have said that the reason was because of the decline of album sales? They have never made such a comment! They've never said that record sales were important in her career, much less in 2002 where they gave a damn about selling more or less... that's Sony's concern, not theirs. 1 Quote "Hush, now... Cèline is now more popular in Europe, Asia and The Middle East than North America. With the Exception of Quebec. Which part of Europe, besides France? Because most European fans I talk with they say Céline is no longuer played in the radios since ages, no matter there's a new album or not. Not to mention that if you ask the new generations, they don't even know who Celine Dion is, but they do know who is Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey for example (thanks to the bad press in the case of Whitney, but they still know who she is) And in the case of Mariah, she may do crap music but she has got much more radio airplay than Céline and has been getting new hits after 2002, so the decline in album sales was there, but that doesn't mean that other artists stopped having hits, because it's not true. Mariah's single "We Belong Together" was a huge success in 2005, getting great radio airplay both in the US and Europe and her album "The Emancipation of Mimi" received rave reviews and several awards and nominations throughout the globe. Same came with "E=MC2" and the single "Touch My Body" in 2008. Howver, Céline's international career and radio life was overly and generally DEAD by 2005 Edited May 10, 2016 at 09:49 PM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

Cèline is now more popular in Europe, Asia and The Middle East than North America. With the Exception of Quebec.Actually the sales of ANDHC (album) is what marks her commercial decline. It sold 1/3 of what FIY and LTAL had sold and 1/2 compared to ATW. I remember reading a professional review of One Heart which called ANDHC a bomb. It said Celine rushed to release a new album because ANDHC bombed. While I don't agree with the term I understand that ANDHC sold below expectations. And Divas music (the way it was popular in the 90s) was over in 2002. Celine during her interviews used to say she knew the music industry had changed during her break but that she felt the need to make her casual romantic music. Add this situation to the fact that she needed stability for her family and one understands why she chose Las Vegas. Quote
