That was a full concert, but only songs taken from the FIY album were aired on this TV special

To me, this is Celine at her finest. There is some melancholia throughout the whole concert that I just can't describe. The way she conveys emotions is on point.

And vocally, I believe that this is the concert where Celine uses the least amount of distortion/nasality that she loves using. She sings 'Baby, baby' in full voice, no squeaking. The high part in Seduces Me, same. Call The Man, All By Myself in this concert are gems too. One of her best concerts ever!

I was thinking about that, she could sing it with a piano.. she can do the notes i think but its too much every night.. so maybe a different version with piano.. less high notes, I just don’t think this will happen because this song is so big, people want to hear it in the original way..

This, like the performance on Rosie, is my favorite way to hear IACBTMN - just a piano and backup singers. So, if she was going to perform at the Olympics that week, this was 1996, 24 years ago...and she already is having difficulty with some of the notes - you and I had ever “made” - and the high “baby” notes she struggles with. 24 years ago. We will never again hear her sing this song live in concerts. Same with TPOL, the note in ABM...they’re just too difficult for a woman in her 50s to sing. Most women in the 20s can’t sing those notes. But she could and did. Her voice is different now. She still sounds great but she sings much lower than before - a natural progression of our singing voices as we age. I just love that we have all these vintage performances to listen to her at her peak. This is why I loved her so much in my 20s - her voice was ridiculous!!

I think Celine was at her best here in this FIY tour because she actually “acted” the songs, and really got into them. Seduces Me, IACBTMN, ABM, etc.

 

She got into character for each one. In other tours, she didn’t sound as impacted. LTAL she did but less so than FIY

That being said, FYO PIX's videos are in pretty good quality considering the source material he's taken it from. I just adore his YouTube channel.

 

I feel like a broken record saying this, but this is perfect marital for her YouTube channel. They should upload old TV special and TV performances. At least the ones they have access to, and isn't copyrighted.

That’s why she would also lip every new song on a TV special. They want the audience to hear the song as it was recorded so that, once purchased, that’s what the audience hears. There’s no difference.

 

Besides, there are hundreds of millions of people who don’t go to concerts because the artist doesn’t sound like the cd version. That’s what they want to hear.

 

Now I would much prefer to get those glimpses of what she sounded like during different takes in the studio. But I know that I’m in the minority on that.
