Celine's fans keep lying to themselves. Thinking she's always one good song, or one good video, or one good promotion to be back at the top like it was 90 again.

 

Accepted: it's not going to happen. She can't fight time.

 

While young artist make no effort and top the charts everywhere, Celine would've have to work her #ss off to get mediocre numbers at most. It's just not worth it and she knows it.

 

Really, she is right now on the best place she could ever be, considering her age and her time on pop music. She's recognized as an Icon, she's respected, she's one of the big concert sellers.

 

Enjoy and get over it.

We have an amazing new album and the tour is selling out.

The album hit #1.

On top of that she is more widely respected than she’s ever been from critics.

Celine Dion dominated the charts and broke records in the 90s. But that time has come and gone and streaming now wins longevity on the charts.

Lucky for us, one will ever sell the amount of records she’s sold.

I’m thankful she’ll always be a legend.

 

I do think we’ll have more unexpected successes in the near future — just the way Ashes was such an unexpected success.

 

I’d rather Celine sing a few new songs from the album on tv or in her shows less so to sell more records and more so to appease us fans (and herself!). Like many others, I’d also love for her to talk about her new music more frequently.

I haven't posted in a while, but some of the posts I've seen are simply irritating.

 

I believe that Celine does not care about sales as she did 20 years ago. She is not thirsty for success or fame like she was 20 years ago.

 

However, (if the rumors are to be believed) if you ask Celine, 'Do you want to make history by claiming the largest drop out of the 200BB?', the answer would be 'ABSOLUTELY NO'. Come one guys! What may or will happen is an unprecedented disaster. No matter how much some of us try to make it OK, it is still a catastrophe.

 

Celine and her team are to blame. Yes the industry has changed and things, but she should have appeared on Ellen (though that her interviews are odd) and some other shows that would make the fall slower.

We all know that Celine doesn't care about selling albums nowadays. She wants to perform, and that's that.

Hence the end of the promo - she never liked doing that.

 

The only thing I really blame her for (I mean, besides the setlist) is the fact she ALMOST NEVER talks about music in her interviews.

It always comes back to her family, her vision of life, what she likes to do... And we never know what she liked about the songs she supposedly picked, how it was to work with said artist any further than "i was honored, it was wonderful". How did they choose the arrangements? What was the attempt in producing a track in a certain way? Did Liz Rodriguez helped to create a cohesive sound on the album? What was the purpose of this sound?

Why did Celine chose to sing in these peculiar new ways of her, what does this evolution represent, how are she in terms with her voice, after 40 years of career and a recent operation when it comes to record an album?

 

What does she feel about the vintage sound of How did you get here? Were she affraid to attack The Hard Way and how did she managed it? How painful was it to record Courage or Perfect Goodbye? To swear in it, did she gave a second thought or did it feel natural?

Why did they choose an organ on many songs, a choir, the electric sound in Lying Down... How did she approched LP? Or did LP reached Celine after she said during the LA event that she would love an LP song?

How is it to work with Sia, one of her favorite artist, in the studio booth?

I guess we'll never know.

She's bound to do a little promo, but talks about her life. Not her music. What the heck?

It's not new, I know. But it still frustrates and infuriates me.

 

But if the cancelled or non planned promo was to tell us once more she sees her husband every day in the eyes of her children and that it took Courage to re-live after the ordeal she had to face 'like so many in the world', I'm glad she decided she wouldn't do promo.

 

Very well said. I couldn't agree more. I've been Celine's fans since The Colour of My Love era, and in my opinion she has lost interest and passion about her music project other than tour. If she doesn't care about charts, it's okay. I don't care about chart either. But at least she can show some passion, interest, and energy about her new album.

Afraid that it's the end of the Celinaissance because of a chart position? It doesn't change much really. If she had released the album in the summer, she would still be in the Top 50 this week. Releasing in crowded November market is much more competitive. Charts are just charts.

She is still a touring force, and selling $150 tickets (and more) over $15 albums is way more telling…

I'm afraid this will also end soon. I can feel it on myself. I use to attend Celine's concert every year, but I'm totally losing an interest now because I've seen the same show over and over. Like she sold out arena in Auckland NZ three times last year, because she came here after 20 years? I bet if she came back this year again she would struggle with one date

Every f****** thing you asked of her she did album with no duets with 20 tracks a tour to promote she did a lot of promotion released music videos... God this is a human being we are talking about... She delivered an outstanding album... Got great reviews and is getting every single show amazing concert reviews... So please take several seats or remove yourself from the forum if you call this being a Celine dion fan!! I'm done with this negativity... Appreciate the things you have and if you dont like the album great than enjoy her old stuff... I loved it and enjoy her new music every day still... But unless your a marketing analyst in the music industry with a specialization on Icon artists trying to re enter the Music business ( what she clearly is not re entering the music business) take several seats... You think I am not disappointing that this album did not take off and maybe be as big and huge as I thought because loved it... Yes I am but that does not give you the right to turn on her or her team while im sure they are trying to do the best they can... You know how it feels when you put your heart and soul into something and people s*** all over it once its not successful??? Go try and put out an album and then let all these people bit by bit talk crap about it and you... yes a new album but then promote that album on tour! do not call the tour Courage but just Celine 2019/2020 tour, because it is basically the same old setlist - again. Fine you are okay with that but i am not. I have seen her in concert many times but the reason i never went to Vegas was because i did not want to hear all those same tracks again. So a courage tour seemed amazing and i immediately bought my tickets, very expensive ones. We all expected something extraordinary but we were wrong - again.

These shows are made for the masses but there are enough tracks on this fantastic album that could work so well on tour!

Yet she just keeps on ignoring them ..even Lying down which would have been a highlight in the show for me but it is already gone.

I understand people is not satisfied with the tour set-list (I'm not either), we should at least have 5-6 songs from the new album, that is a must and they should act quickly on this. This I understand completely, but people upset or surprised about how the album is doing in many markets don't understand then how music industry works today. All older artists perform the same in the charts nowadays, Celine's already outsold most of her peers in one week. And promo in USA would have little effect, she should rather go and do a short promo tour in UK and France right before Christmas.
