I know! Since when did Celine have to be anyone but herself? I'm hoping with this new album Sony see that people love Celine because she is different! When her voice is one of the best in the world why sing like someone else?

If there was something worse about her last English album other than being "bad" per se, it's the voice condition she used on purpose there. If the selection of songs wasn't bad enough, that grainy voice she used on several songs is the last straw

Hate is a very strong feeling , I cannot say I hate it, because the Sia song brought lots of renewed excitement to me for an English single, but I have to admit that the rest of the album was a major disappointment to me.

 

It was jinxed from the start, as we know, they didn't have a clue what to do with this project from the very first day

Exactly!

Don't get me wrong but in the 1990's Celine's songs were easily recognizable. She had her own style of songs and singing. A song started playing on radio and everybody knew it was a Celine song. Even a cover! She made all songs her one's.

Since 2002 she's kinda lost... She recorded great songs since then but something changed. It's like she's trying to find a new style...

 

She's Celine Dion. IMO she just needs to be CELINE DION!

While dark, I think it's musically and thematically relevant to what CÉLINE's life, and, as a bonus, I can really see this one charting, not to mention shining in the context of live performances, including her VEGAS show. To me, the song could easily open both her album AND her Vegas show.

 

I ask that you close your eyes and listen to the song, hearing CÉLINE's voice on this track and also visualizing her performing it; I can only hope you will agree with me.

I like the song and adore Emeli Sande but I think Celine needs brand-new material. Songs writen specially for her.

 

There are so many talented composers writing for Celine right now so why recording more covers? Its just my opinion.

As much as this is really a good time for Celine to release a new album; because--well it is (given the positive press, tour, VOGUE, etc.) The competition this fall is massive.

 

Rumor is Taylor Swift is releasing in October. She would obliterate Celine for about three weeks in a row.....so nothing within a month of her release. Eminem as well is releasing.

 

Maybe Celine could do first week of December? After Taylor and Eminem release? I dunno. I have a feeling we won't get the new record until 2018

What changed is that she read/heard the negative criticism from music critics saying everything she sings is too perfect and polished and she came to the conclusion that she has to sound "grainy" and with a frog in her throat in order to win those critics over, as this was somehow "more authentic".

I disagree. Celine could beat Taylor Swift, But demand will probably go up for Eminem since he hasn't released an album in a while, and her own son will be buying his album, instead of his mom's. Edited August 22, 2017 at 12:14 AM by Brandon

I think it is a very weak album. The ballads are lame and not powerful. I despise the Stevie Wonder duet.

Loved me back to life (fantastic) and Somebody loved somebody are the highlights of this album. Breakaway is ok but to me it felt like an old song, because I've already known Ivy's version for ages. I also kind of like Always be your girl which is hated by so many others. And that's it. The rest sounds lame or dated or both.

To me Taking Chances was a fresh and current album that touched at various cool music styles. Anyway I prefer her French albums. They are current, they are fresh and most important they are unique to Celine and not some sort of "we try to sound like".

Recovering was a message- nothing else. Doubt Pink would have written Celine a different kind of song tbh.
