Celine Dion writing songs like "Don't Save It All For Christmas Day" hardly makes her more of an artist. Songs she's written are hardly compelling, artistic songs! I would much rather her have songs written for her by people who bask in the CRAFT of songwriting. Sia, Adele -- those are true pop song writers.

 

Celine Dion's sheer vocals and interpretations of songs are more than enough for to be considered one of the GREATS.

What a weird idea.

 

There are lots of parameters to take into account when it comes to define a good song and what's the degree of involvement to consider being called a good"songwriter"

 

But being played on radio nowadays is definitely not one of them to me.

 

I'd rather have Celine composing the melody of a song than writing it, if it's english.

Lyrics are much more important in french and tbh it's quite usual to translate really successful English songs in french and make fun of it...

 

Based only on lyrics, an artistic song is the opposite of a compelling song (let's face it : a boring song for most of people). Because the principle of a compelling song is only marketing : it has to get stuck in your head easily. And to reach a large public , lyrics have to be basic.

I just grow tired of scrolling through so many posts stating how Celine Dion should write her own songs because that would make her a true artist.

 

Meryl Streep is a brilliant actress. She doesn't need to write her own screenplays to be respected & considered a true artist.

 

Celine Dion is a brilliant vocalist. She doesn't need to write her own lyrics to be respected & considered a true artist.

 

Both of these artists interpret & perform above all the rest. That's all I need. I'm sorry if that's not enough for some of you.

i think it is a good comparison.... Merryl does it all, comedy, drama, musical, suspense...the same way Celine can sing about everything.

So random question, I don't know if its been asked before on here but does anyone know if the song Celine is singing at the beginning of the Vogue video is a new song or a song by another artist? It's not one I recognize and I looked up the lyrics and couldn't find any results so I thought maybe it could be one of the songs she has already recorded for the new english album? Hopefully it is and I don't look like an idiot for not knowing what the song is lol

What about 'Entre deux mondes' ?? she wrote the lyrics and the music and last year Scott Price said he wouldn't be surprise if 1 or 2 songs written by Celine make it on the new english album.

She wrote a lovely song for Anne-mariés wedding, and sang it when she was expecting RC.

Since then has written two songs for Marc Dupré: entre deux mondes, is one of them, which is lovely, and available on iTunes, but I couldn't find the second song that she wrote for Marc.

The one she wrote for anne-marie, I don't believe it was ever recorded. But what a beautiful song.....song is in English

This song was recorded by Marc as well, but in french. It's called Tout Près Du Bonheur, and Celine sings with him.

 

The other two songs she wrote for him, are Entre Deux Mondes (with backing vocals by Celine) and Y'a Pas De Mots (another duet), both were released on Marc's album...

I think she could also have a personal album by having songwriters write specifically for her, like P!nk did with “Recovering,” like Linda Perry did with “My Love,” like David Foster did with “Tell Him” and “Miracle.” These always end up being some of her best, as opposed to just selecting stock songs.

One hopes so! Because looking back, my oh my was "Loved Me Back to Life" one of Sia's throwaway songs....

 

Celine deserves to command the best songs on the market once again, ones dreams to the level like like she did for Falling Into You.
