It would be sad if she no longer releases albums. She still has so much to offer in terms of new material.

If they were smart, they would re-release the album as like a platinum edition (maybe be creative with red and call it the Ruby edition or something) and put at least 5 more tracks on as bonus. People are sitting home right now, and if anyone is like me, they want new music for when they are cleaning the house.

"Chesney’s new album, “Here and Now,” had the equivalent of 233,000 sales in the United States, and was credited with moving 222,000 copies as a complete package, according to Nielsen Music. The album had just 13 million streams — the lowest for a No. 1 album since Celine Dion’s “Courage” late last year, which reached the top with 3.8 million streams (and a ticket bundle)."

 

I'm just still stunned that for an album with so much back story, and so much to market, Team Celine / Sony barely lifted a finger to get Courage out there. One dinky TV appearance (in the Fri night slot-of-death, if I recall correctly!), no magazine stories, no radio interviews... nada. It's all just so odd.

 

Potentially this would be the biggest drop from no 1 next week and unseat celine record. Lol

Ι am still listening to songs from this album on a daily basis. IMO promotion did not stand up to the material - Courage deserved better.

Guys! Try editing it. Combine the two (Courage Instrumentals) and the acapella version of Courage (i think someone already made that). It sounds amazing. Of course just add effects to Céline's vocals. It sounds different compared to the Original (maybe because it's only strings and bass) and it sounds so so beautiful it's like a movie version of Courage

As someone else mentioned, Courage is still my go-to Celine music on a regular basis. I'm still amazed at how GOOD this album is. How coherent and soulful it is. It's honestly a top Celine album. Like, I seriously put this album in the top 3 of all time... maybe even #1. It feels like it should have been one of those albums that came out, and just blew up. It's very sad that it didn't, but I'm so very thankful we got this album.

I’m glad you enjoy it. I feel the opposite, though. To me, it’s her most forgettable and mediocre album of all-time. So many of the songs have lame lyrics, poor lyrical structure, and give a glimpse of something that could be great only to not come through on delivery. There are a few songs I like well enough, but I highly doubt I’ll ever feel a need to listen to the album again.

I feel the same. Listen to us daily. Most cohesive album in a long time. The production sounds so similar in all the recordings - that metallic, auto tune sound. Plus every song is a character dealing with one of the stages of grief. It’s nearly a perfect album. Can’t stop listening to it and singing along. My husband wants to kill me!!

I feel this album has some very well-written and intentional lyrics about the three Ls...love, loss, and life. It gives emotional impressions that no other Celine song and album really give...and in that sense it reminds me of her second English album.

 

However, I am so disappointed with her pronunciation and vocal delivery on a lot of tracks. The kermit-y yodel...So, I am letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. Because I do think the album is very good, albeit too long.

 

Edit: Also, she should've dropped an epic, COLORFUL, high-art//sexy music video with her lead single. Something with high production value. Something to get people really talking.

 

I'm thinking of her and Pepe dancing in Change My Mind video as a lead single, he would be the antagonist of the song to speak.

Honestly don't know how Courage can't be loved. The album is fantastic. I know some casual Celine fans I work with who actually purchased it and went out of their way to inform me they think it's her best work in years.

as

1. Courage

2. Encore un soir

3. Loved me back to life

4. Falling into you

5. Taking chances / A new day has come / D'eux (can't really choose number five haha)

I actually find Courage to be her most competent anglophone work in terms of lyrical content. Various themes are explored in a meaningful and subtle way. I personally found the writing approach invigorating, as her music has usually been bombastic and excessively sentimental. Similar at my work. I had several co-workers stream the album on a regular basis. They to agreed it was her best work in years. Even went to say while some of her previous albums were forgettable this one was right there next to her 90's albums.

As I said before, it's a fan favorite. I'm the weird one 😅.

 

And you guys are right when you said it have some great lyrics. But, once again, I can't stand those vocals. I thought it couldn't get worse then LMBTL, but it did. It's just too much work. Sounds like what they do to Britney's voice. And after an amazing album that is 'Encore Un Soir', my expectations were really high.

 

In the other hand, Taking Chances, for me, it's her most underappreciated work. And it aged really well.

Gosh, that sounds so much richer! What a difference! It’s a shame that they reduced the music so strongly. They could have made a drop dead movie soundtrack version with all that beautiful music!

 

at least they could release another soundtrack mix of the song. It’s not a big deal to remix it.

because they put céline’s vocals louder than the instrumentals. It’s not balanced. And this strings and bass is already beautiful. It’s really like a movie version

At least it’s not as bad as “Falling in Love Again” where the imbalance is even bigger, and that song also has stunningly beautiful instrumentals.
