"Courage" album - Official Topic

Im convinced that the leftovers are soaring romantic power ballads, and that's why they didn't quite fit on Courage. It's really time to release everything that's left

It seems that with this album she experienced with many different "edgy" styles, the two firsts that come to mind are "Soul" and "Lovers never die" so I wouldn't say the majority of the leftovers have to do with power ballads. I wonder if one day we will even know the answer for that, having in mind her label is/won't be that excited to release anything

that has to do with Courage.

As time goes by, I understand how wrong were the singles they choose to promote the album "The hard way" was a freshy song for her comeback and many other gems.

Needed where the proud who walk the wire are set to fall"

I don’t think Céline and her team really care if songs fit on an album or not. Pretty much every album is a crazy mix of all different genres. I also don’t think they had an idea in mind when choosing the songs (eg. “let’s make it mostly modern, edgy songs”). I think they simply chose the songs they liked most and that ended up being the Courage album. I would however like them to release a new album with songs they didn’t put on Courage. Maybe in 2022? Halfway to the next release lol

Well Courage is NOT just a crazy mix of different genres. There's a theme this time, which is quite unusual for an English Celine album. So I hope the other songs just didn't fit the theme as well... and that they might also be high-quality songs. Fingers crossed!

Agree, Courage is her most cohesive album ever, in both theme and music style.

Her fifth No1. Happy that one her maybe best albums happens to meet her favorite number. ^_^

Québecor has launched a new streaming service. It’s mainly marketed to Québec to promote local artists, but they do have the same library as Spotify et al.

Courage is getting some visibility on the front page.

They made and release behind the scene of the making of Lying Down video, then there was nothing.

They talk about Courage album, but barely talk about it and only performed 2 songs in CWT.

There was a ‘leaked footage’ of Play Me Like a Love Song, then there was nothing.

They ask us what do we want next after Courage recording session video, then there was nothing.

The truth is, it seems like they don’t really care about Courage. Maybe they just release itu because of contractual obligation. After all is done, they choose to milk CWT, the easy cash grab.

They did? When?

All I recall in reference to that video was the ET interview, where it was mentioned.

She could still release the hard way because it is such An encouraging song in this crisistime! I hope she records a video or does anything at this moment music related.

You can see some scenes from the filming of the video here:

Tournée Européenne in Paris (December 1, 2013)

Céline Dion Live 2016 in Antwerp (June 20, 2016)

Céline Dion Live 2017 in Birmingham (July 27, 2017)

For the most part, artists aren’t releasing new albums/singles at this time. Even Lady Gaga pushed her album back because she felt like now was not the right time to be releasing and promoting herself. And that’s exactly what it would look like, unfortunately, if Celine were to release something right now. Unless it was for charity, it would come across as self-serving.

Also, there’d be no promotion. There are no shows to go on to promote it. Businesses are hurting so hard, Sony wouldn’t even spend money for advertisements/banners on websites. So the song would go nowhere.

It’s not exactly official behind the scene video. But there was a video interview with some footage from the making of Lying Down video where Celine dressed in red and something like Mars theme.

Yes, it’s the ET Canada interview I was referring to in my post.

it'd be nice if Celine promoted Courage during this break. Talk shows like Kelly and Ryan, Kelly Clarkson, etc. are doing live from home interviews. Very easy for Celine's team to arrange that. Plug the album a bit. Release a single for summer to AC stations.

If we try to manage her , why can't her team? LOL.

Finally I'm so fed up with Sony for not updating her RIAA certifications. They have not be updated since 2008 when Taking Chances was released. It's unreal.

Yes, it’s very easy for her team to arrange that. Except they just don’t want to.

It would be nice to hear from her and the album she “loves” so much.

Question for anyone, does the artist contact these shows or is it the other way around? Maybe no shows are contacting her?

I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

I think it goes both ways. An artists' agent or rep can contact or the booking manager for the show. Surely they would take Celine's call anytime! It's not as if she's Carly Rae Jepsen...plus she rarely does these types of appearances anyway so it's a novelty

Maybe you haven't noticed but these celebrities always happen to be on when they have something to promote! :giggle: So their agents or marketing teams contact the shows. It's a bit fake when the celebrity says "thanks for inviting me"!! ;) (But once in a while for special shows, yes the shows can contact the stars they really want on but that's about it.)

I for one think that her promoting and trying to get people over buy and stream her album NOW in this time period, is an awful idea. Artists who are currently doing so are being dragged left right and center for taking advantage of the current circumstances and trying to profit off of it by releasing music, unless it’s a non-profit charity single or song, people are not happy about artists releasing and or promoting their music. Neither should they be, money is hardly secure now and to be going out and saying “look everyone, this is my new album, buy it, stream it and download it!” Is probably the worst thing she could do

Yeah, but I don't think is that easy either. That's a lot of artists who don't get space in those TV shows. So, I don't believe it's just a matter of "call and book a date".

That's correct. But in Celine's case it's that easy (except for SNL lol).

It doesn't mean the show will say yes. Booking agents try and try, but if the singer is not well known to bring a big enough audience, then it won't happen. But sometimes they give a chance to a newcomer (remember the first time Celine was on the Tonight Show? Now that needed a big push from Sony I'm sure).

Just here to point out that Christine and the Queens was on Colbert last night singing IN FRENCH.

And I remind you that when Celine, the best-selling French-language artist EVER, was out promoting EUS, she showed up to late night TV to sing... The Show Must Go On. 🤦‍♀️

Oh I remember that! Bad judgment call from Celine and her team. :o

But now that she finally has the most appropriate song possible for these times (Courage), she isn’t allowed to sing it just so people don’t interpret it in a certain way?!

Which was really odd as in 1995 she did perform Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore on national TV in the US (at the Tonight Show with Jay Leno), while at that time she was less famous.

So indeed it was a pity that in 2016 they opted for an English song this time around, especially as there was so much attention to her at that time.

But, similarly in 1998 at the time of the S'il Suffisait d'Aimer album release, I don't quite understand why they did not promote this album with a performance, as she was touring the USA.
