Her UK numbers are tragic. She needs to promote the album there or she can forget about certifications. :yes:

 

In terms of overall sales, I hope the album achieves longevity in the US and Canada - these might end up being the strongest markets for Courage.

IMO the album also under-performed in Sweden, Norway, Netherlands and Ireland. I was expecting higher positions.

 

Best surprise was reaching #4 in Germany and #1 in Belgium Wallonia. #2 in France was pretty good too. Really looking forward to Canada and US.

If you click on this article and on the Top 50 chart, it shows the breakdown and Celine has the lowest streaming number in the Top 50. It's tough for veteran acts! But so happy for this big #1 in the US! Edited by Xpresso

What makes you think they can squeeze in a few high-profile appearances in less than two weeks? I think the ship has sailed, as far as East coast U.S. TV promo goes... nobody worthwhile has an open slot just waiting for a big name celeb to drop in on short notice! I think that’s what the Tonight Show appearance was so brief—there just simply wasn’t enough time in their schedules.

 

IMO the biggest chance she has to recoup that missed opportunity is to perform new songs in her concerts, where attendees already have the album.

I think celine's budget for promo has gone to the music videos. We only have one video from lmbtl. Also they know that their biggest revenue is from tour, not album sales. Album is now becoming a compliment to tour rather than vice versa. Radio airplay is important and Sony knows withouth top40 stations playing celine song, there is no more point doing a one off promo

I just noticed that on Tidal and Spotify there are two versions of the album (Deluxe Edition), one with "Perfect Goodbye" marked as "Explicit" and the other without that "E" mark, where they removed the "controversial" words. So now we can recommend this album even to children :)

This album will definitely go for long time promotion strategy by Sony. There are two more music videos ahead… at least.

Of course she is. Why do you think we've been harping on about it for months?! :giggle:

And she could have rescheduled the remaining 2 Montreal shows for this Sun/ Mon, since Bell Center is free. IMHO the reason she didn't, is because she's already spoken for on Sunday.

I just spent the evening at some friends' place and I asked them to play Céline on Spotify. Heart of Glass was played several times. I think they started to like the song! Lol

What is with this album, really?

 

It is an absolute grower! I mean, I listen to the whole thing again and again and I no longer feel like I want to skip any of the songs...

Is it magic?

Seriously... What is it?

 

Sorry to interrupt all the talk about promotion strategies and stuff, I am just a simple fan who is happy she is still releasing music and touring the world and having sold out concerts left and right.

I am happy as long as she sings something from the album. ANY song will do for me. I do not care if it is FOMO or Imperfections or Courage or Say Yes! Excited! :clap:

Agreed! It would be SO fantastic if she attended / performed.

 

How wonderful that Celine Dion has the number 1 album in the United States right now. She is THE person to be at this show and perform. The album is phenomenal so she should proudly sit atop her throne after a few years of just being a presenter at these shows, with rare exception. All those other artists performing / presenting should bow down. All hail the Queen.

I hope she makes a surprise performance at the AMAs... It would be so nice to hear her being introduced: "She's got the No. 1 album in the US now, please welcome..."

 

The last time this kind of introduction at a major US awards show happened was during the 1999 Billboard Music Awards... When her ascent to No. 1 was just in time for the awards show... So she was introduced by Kathy Griffin: "She's got the No. 1 album right now..."

So ColdPlay traded places with Celine on the itunes WW chart

 

She is now number #10, CP jumping to #1

Glad Celine was able to squeeze in another No. 1 album just before the decade ends, so she earns the rare distinction of having a No. 1 album in each of the last three decades. Now let's aim for another No. 1 for the next decade (2020s). Hahaha

Her getting sick/rescheduling the Montreal shows really screwed up so much. She would have been everywhere this past week, I’m sure. No-one in the UK knows she has an album out.

I think that the way this is measured is not quite fair. Many Celine fans bought this album and are listening to the physical copies constantly, or they play it on iPods etc. instead of using streaming platforms. So the streaming number will of course be low. Streaming should not be considered the main accurate measurement for chart positions.

I don’t have hopes for AMAs, doubt they kept Celine as a last minute announcement. But a total waste opportunity to have a performance from this album with a big stage production. Is not her fault she got sick, but these Montreal shows messed up the whole promotional plan.
