incognito Posted November 10, 2019 at 07:05 PM Posted November 10, 2019 at 07:05 PM Why would they remind you to redeem? You should have received the e-mail and redeemed immediately after your original ticket purchase last spring. I forgot I even sent it in, but I did. I got a reminder about 2 weeks ago to redeem. I bought so many tickets that I missed redeeming one. 2 Quote

Céline RO Posted November 10, 2019 at 07:34 PM Posted November 10, 2019 at 07:34 PM (edited) My review, after 1 week of listening: FOMO - Fantastic fun song. Didn’t like it much when it first came out but I’ve grown to adore it. LND - Very good song in every way. I liked it from the beginning and in my opinion is a very good follow up to FOMO. FILA - Another great ballad from Céline. I didn’t think I’d like it but it exceeds all expectations. LD - OK song in my opinion, nothing more. I don’t get the hype over it. The melody sounds mediocre and the vocals sound strained. Courage - Definitely one of the best songs on the album and certainly deserves to be the title track. It’s quite simple but the buildup is amazing and the lyrics are so good. Overall, MUCH better than “Recovering”. Imperfections - I don’t really like it. It sounds too generic and too much like something you would hear in a department store. Honestly, I’m glad she’s not performing it (and hopefully won’t ever). CMM - Good song. Her way of singing the chorus isn’t particularly attractive but those notes at the end are INSANE. SY - I love the melody, it’s very relaxing. However, I don’t really agree with the lyrics (please let’s not start an argument over it). NW - I love it but I can’t quite figure out why. It’s similar to “Make You Happy” but unfortunately doesn’t have that fun chorus. I don’t think it would sound great live though... The Chase - One of my favorite songs on the album. I love the slight country vibe and her light vocals. At first, it reminded me of “Femme comme chacune”. FTLTIL - The melody and the lyrics are amazing. However, the way she sings it is so bad that it makes me skip the song every time. Baby - Very fresh and fun! It definitely sound like Sia and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. The only thing I don’t get is why they put that “blurred” effect on her voice in the chorus. IWBS - OK song. Towards the ending there’s a line that sounds a lot like LTAL album material. The only problem is the way she sings. HDYGH - I like it. It’s shockingly similar to Rihanna’s “Love on the Brain” but I love that song so I don’t mind. LAUN - Great song! I think it would sound really good live. PG - I HATE it. Definitely the worst song on the album and one of her worst songs ever in my opinion, I hope it will become one of her “forgotten” songs and that she NEVER performs it. Here’s why: 1. She says “s*it” (I intentionally said “says” instead of “sings”). I don’t care if she uses that language but I really don’t want it to be forever engraved in her repertoire. I like her being edgy and constantly surprising but this time I think she’s gone too far though I know it could be much worse. Just my opinion, please don’t start a fight over it. 2. The vocals are sloppy and just so unattractive. I can’t even listen to it. 3. The “melody” is too current. Not my cup of tea. BOA - Very nice song. Relaxing and very light, I love listening to it. Like some have said it reminds me of some of the OH album songs. Unfortunately, I don’t think it would be great live but I would be very happy to hear it on the radio. HOG - I love the song. It’s one of my favorite on the album. Therefore, it’s a shame she uses that “closed mouth” technique when she sings. Boundaries - It’s a pretty good song in my opinion. Nothing more. THW - I LOVE it! It’s one of my favorites and absolutely a great ending for the album. The vocals are insane, pretty much impossible to sing. Reminds me a lot of the TC album. Overall, a pretty solid album. I think it’s well produced but could improve. The songs are quite good and her vocals, although sometimes sound a bit too loose, sound a lot like on the LMBTL album (which is only normal given that it’s her latest English album). I think you can probably tell that I’m more of a “classic Céline” fan and have a similar mindset to René’s. Edited November 10, 2019 at 07:41 PM by Céline RO 1 Quote The best is yet to come...

rfkavanagh Posted November 10, 2019 at 08:17 PM Posted November 10, 2019 at 08:17 PM Why would they remind you to redeem? You should have received the e-mail and redeemed immediately after your original ticket purchase last spring. I forgot I even sent it in, but I did. They'll want to remind everyone as much as possible to redeem the offer this week (whether they'll do it or not is an open question). Priority will be driving first-week sales - the more people that redeem the ticket bundle offer up to the launch and including the first week of "sales", the more they'll guarantee high numbers and a number one album at launch. After that they won't care much because they don't make any more money off redemptions (in fact it costs them because they have to pay shipping), and most albums sink like a stone after the first week anyway. Since bundle redemptions tend to be relatively low for all artists, there's a huge untapped audience that could count for the charts if they can just get them to redeem. It's all about up-front impact. Some additional album-related thoughts after another couple of days:I Will Be Stronger is dropping a bit for me - still enjoyable enough, but taking on more "filler" status.Conversely, For The Lover That I Lost has been growing on me a bit more. Still not a masterpiece, but it's taking a hold...I already really liked Baby, but even it's jumped a bit in my estimation, too - I love Sia but am ambivalent about other artists performing her songs simply because they always just imitate the demo and put on a Sia voice. Céline does this as well, but damnit if Sia's songs aren't catchy as hell. Just wish they weren't always so lyrically sparse and repetitive.Still think it's hilarious that Céline has an explicit advisory on an album. Overall I could have done without her singing the word, but it doesn't bother me and it's handled pretty organically rather than going for shock value. It's not calling attention to itself and going "LOOK, CÉLINE DION CAN CURSE, TOO!" Thankfully it hasn't shown up (yet) as a talking point to be hammered by Céline in every interview about how this is a new attitude and such a risk that she's taken... I want an extended version of Change My Mind even more now. 1 Quote
Jeanette Posted November 10, 2019 at 08:36 PM Posted November 10, 2019 at 08:36 PM Friday can’t come soon enough! Honestly, I’m sick and tired of seeing people quoting lyrics all over my fb feed. I wish people would just be a bit more respectful to those of us who’ve actually had the ‘courage’ to wait it out. I’m not talking about on here cos I’ve skimmed through what I didn’t want to read but I draw the line with the official fb fan group, that’s really getting on my goat. Also fed up reading people’s reviews suggesting that all the songs sound like one song. I certainly hope that’s not true 🤞🏻 2 Quote
zeopower6 Posted November 10, 2019 at 08:38 PM Posted November 10, 2019 at 08:38 PM Oh, I don't know if that's accurate with them all sounding like one song but I'd say the mood other than Flying On My Own is about the same? Like kinda mid-tempo for most things but they all definitely don't sound like the same song, lol. 2 Quote

Popular Post wjd Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:17 PM Popular Post Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:17 PM So, thinking about this again as I listen to the full album for I think the 5th time since Friday, I wanted to call out my highlights... I can't quite describe how I feel about Heart of Glass - it has clicked with me more than any other song, I cannot get it out of my head. When I listen to it on full-blast, with my headphones on, it's simply awesome - I love the layered vocals so much on the latter half of the song, I just wish she would've finished with some big notes. It's otherwise perfect IMO and is fast becoming a favourite of mine. And Boundaries is simply stunning - I really love it, her vocals are amazing. I know I've already said it, but Moccio outdid himself with his two tracks (this, and Courage). I hope she works with him again - he's behind three terrific songs: A New Day Has Come, Courage and Boundaries. I Will Be Stronger - "and tonight I have all I need, I got forgiveness; I'm feeling different, tonight I will be stronger. I didn't ask to be set free, but in my hour of weakness..." the way she sings that is SO good and the way she then brings it in towards the end with those beautiful head voice notes. And how she sings "it's not the end..." at the end >>> How Did You Get Here is simply amazing - I love the backing vocals that reinforce the "how did you" part and the "oooohhhh" parts, they add so much to the song. This was soulful Celine, it's such an earworm. I love this so much. Look At Us Now is just insane, I don't think she has ever done anything like this before - certainly nothing I can immediately recall, the backing vocals are again a highlight (they come in at the right time and don't overshadow), the "LOOK AT US NOW!!!" parts are mighty and would brilliantly support a gospel choir as I mentioned above. And also, it's clear where that awkward couple of seconds in Carpool Karaoke came from. Change My Mind is awesome, awesome and awesome some more! The vocals are insanity. And I need to stop as I will otherwise write about the whole album again. I'm going to say it - easily her best effort since A New Day Has Come and I am really interested to see what the professional reviews look like. It's absolutely not a ground-breaking record by any stretch, but it's definitely a new side of Celine IMO and I couldn't be more delighted with what we've ended up with. 14 Quote Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?
fred Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:25 PM Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:25 PM I do love it, and I luuurve that it's flyyyiiing on my(its) ooooowwwwn, but to me it still lacks the "oumff". Are there any tracks on the album with clear hit oumff? As much as I want a new single to be released and promoted, I think the wiser choice is to promote Imperfections. The song has proven us to be a grower, not only on radio but with ourselves. I think now it's one of the best songs on the album and probably the most modern. Who knows what a couple of tv performances would do for this song! Quote Peace and love to all.

fred Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:28 PM Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:28 PM Yea why doesn't she remind people during the Concerts! Like "folks, remember to pick out our free copy of my latest album!!!" (And noooo defenders, she could have said that BEFORE nov 15th too, just adding that it's out nov 15th). Considering it's the Greatest Hits Tour, l'm not sure people feel interested in redeeming the new CD.... 2 Quote Peace and love to all.
ruimarques Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:40 PM Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:40 PM Did you guys already discussed the LP’s background vocals in “Change my mind”? ... and btw the falsetto addition in “For the lover that I lost” is definitely Sam Smith himself! Both songs are one of my favourites! Really don’t like Chase, I will be stronger, say yes. Boring and terrible production. 2 Quote
Thomas Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:48 PM Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:48 PM The album is amazing, it was definitely worth the wait and I am so proud of what she has achieved without Rene. So incredibly proud! And to allow Cher to sing "For The Lover That I Lost" for her and feature on the album, she is so generous. What a gift! Quote

Balao Posted November 10, 2019 at 11:05 PM Posted November 10, 2019 at 11:05 PM For me "The Chase" is really the best on the album. I also love the first two songs. If I had to pick a fourth song, it would probably be "HDYGH" but I also love the lyrics of "Nobody's Watching".I have yet to listen to the deluxe. Quote
