"Courage" album - Official Topic

Coz her fans can't handle her sounding "new" so they even have to let her evolve in a dated manner.

 

I don’t hate FOMO, and I don’t like it either, for me it’s forgettable and like 12-15 years too late. If she’s going to do EDM then do it right, I’d be all for that. However, this watered down version of EDM goes nowhere for me....even so, when they first released the song I still think it’s better than some of the last releases prior...

I always like to speculate when we get the song titles whether the songs will be a ballad, mid tempo or uptempo so I’ve had a go below and I’m now looking forward to finding out how many I get correct.

Remember I haven’t listened to any new songs yet other than FOMO so I’m going on what I’ve read about the new tracks C, I and LD but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. There are a couple of songs that on first look at I would say are likely to be one or the other but I’ve changed it up just to go the opposite of my initial instincts. These are namely; Say Yes, The Chase, Best Of All, Heart Of Glass and The Hard Way, where initially I would definitely say mid or uptempo but I thought going on gut instinct there would be too many ballads against mid and uptempo.

The song at the very beginning: "Freeze you out....my heart is melting...." If this is on the album too (in keeping with the idea she's been singing these songs for years now!) I wonder if it could be the bonus song "Heart of Glass" or possibly "Perfect Goodbye".

 

As far as whatever song is what we presumed to be PMLALS ...I went back to re-listen because I could almost swear the part where it cuts out and picks back up again sounded like the ending of the word "die" but alas I'm pretty sure it's the word tonight. I was hopeful that might be a hint it's Lovers Never Die but we'll have to wait.

As thrilled as I am that we’re getting a deluxe edition with 20 songs - that’s just too much for me. When I first hear a Celine album, I like to sit down and play it beginning to end. So what I’ll probably do is make a playlist with the first 12 songs and consider that my Courage album. I’ll listen to that throughout the holiday season and really live those 12 tracks. Then, when the new year comes, I’ll listen to the final 8 tracks and consider it an EP: Courage Part 2.

 

Oh dear... seriously??? You must be joking. Nobody forces you to listen the album in full (actually nobody forces you to buy a whole album today).

 

Well, just split the album in 10 songs and save the remaining 10 songs for the next years, when maybe there's no new music from Celine in another 6 long years. Maybe you'll need them then, and then you can build your one next Celine English album under your convenience, form and wishes...

You said he was the only person who thinks 20 songs is too much and go on to do your "we've been waiting since 2015" spiel, when thats not what he was implying at all. Maybe accept for ONCE youve read it wrong or maybe misinterpreted something. Maybe? Just once? No? Okay.

I'm 99% convinced that Play Me Like A Love Song (or whatever its real title is) won't be on the new album considering that the lyrics from the snippet don't match any of the 20 titles of the album.

Yea Superlove is ok, a fun song. A bit "obscure" (for Céline) but not as brilliant sounding as RTD.

 

Sure LYHT is so stressful to listen to, so many words squeezed into to little space and pace. But that line you're reffering to: isn't she basically saying to someone "I don't agree with you heading into this relationship which seems doomed by everyone else, but I support you and want you to follow your heart, so out of that I cannot stop you"? Be glad the song writers didn't squeeze all that into one line. For me the line is fine take in…. the amount of words and the pace of them however isn't.

 

I actually like Superlove. The lyrics make sense. "How am I gonna stop it if I want to give it all to love" is just WTF?

Her up-tempo songs have massively improved over the years. I think it started with TTWII and then the ANDHC album.

 

During the 90s her up-tempo songs used to be very cheesy and almost always filler material. Songs like Real Emotion, Lovin' Proof make me cringe. I would never play these to a non-fan. And others like Little Bit Of Love, Make You Happy, Your Light are just not cool enough. Just my opinion.

 

Things changed with ANDHC. In this album there was a perfect balance between ballads and up-tempo songs, meaning the role of her up-tempos changed. They were not used as fillers, but rather as solid songs that contributed to the content of the record in a more obvious way. And that became a pattern. I'm Alive, I Drove All Night, Loved Me Back To Life. Flying On My Own are great album openers.

 

Songs like Sorry For Love, Reveal, Eyes On Me, Somebody Loves Somebody, Save Your Soul, You and I, and even Rain-Tax are all very catchy. There have been weak songs like Let Your Heart Decide and Can't Fight The Feeling, but these are like the exception and not the rule.

 

The only thing I have been missing since ANDHC is her larger-than-life, 5-minutes-long power ballads. Like I Surrender, Prayer, Goodbye (The Saddest Word) and so on. Play Me Like A Love Song seemed to be heading towards that direction, so hopefully it will make it to the album.

The energy, the beautiful message, the (genious) inclusion of John Lennon's quote within the lyrics... It's was the genuine edgy song of this so called "edgy" album! It's perfect!

I was at a party a few weeks ago and they wanted me to play Céline expecting the big ballads. I played Can't Fight The Feeling and they couldn't believe it was her. They LOVED the song.

Why is it so hard to grasp the concept that one might not like CFTF? It is not an important song in her catalog, she has barely performed it live, its total views on YT are below 1m, it is not known as fan favorite, and IMO it is been-there-done-that both musically and lyrically. Like a mix of Your Light and I'm Alive, albeit more bombastic. And also dated. Βut f*** my opinion. The other things I mentioned are facts. And collectively they matter. I mean...
