We're really being unrealistic if we think that song could have gone any further than it did ... but for the song it was ... it should have gone nowhere. I think Sony learned an important lesson from that song, that's what should matter to us.

 

I mean it's not like Deadpool is The Avengers ... it's not a billion dollar property.

 

But of you can create an even bigger synergy between Celine, a billion dollar property who has only cachet and the "curiosity factor" behind her at this point, but billions of dollars worth of it, with another billion dollar property which actually releases diamond albums, what can you do in 2019?

 

These are the kinds of questions (I think) record company execs are asking each other today. And you have to believe they're asking them about Celine, otherwise they'd be doing *nothing* with her career. If it weren't for her cachet, she'd have already released a jazz album and a Broadway cover album by now, because that is the only lane open for AC legacy artists today (just look at Michael Bolton).

 

But she's more valuable, and if they can utilize that value in an unexpected way, they will ... because the industry is grasping at straws ...

She much prefers to do something in the studio, than anything live...

Yeah, but she'd do it for Celine so long as she has a studio recording to fall back on if she chokes.

 

Also, she's older now and has a different perspective, so she has more confidence. And I'm sure Sony is pushing her to tour.

If you mean "the deal was finalized a long time ago" then yeah ... but they both have album's coming out in the next year, and one of them (Celine's) keeps getting delayed for mysterious reasons ... and they're signed to the same label so it's worth speculating about.

 

If it was ever going to happen it would be in support of Adele's album, her schedule would dictate everything. So they have an album waiting to go for some mysterious reason and just ... why? What could be that important?

 

Any other collaboration can just happen, this is the only one they'd make her wait for ...

 

That among all the incessant performing activity, Vegas and yearly tours in between, Céline hasn't found (doesn't want to) the proper time to commit to PROMOTE the album??? :innocent:

 

I so very much think she is still interested in recording songs, but she loathes so much the promotion obligations that come after...

Im still absolutely shocked that Barbra pulled out of the only Tell Him performance.... Definitely was scared of / didnt want to perform next to Celine

in my opinion a adele duet would make perfect sense, not only because adele is a top artist nowadays, but also their fanbases are very similar. They reach the same kind of public and it would be very appreciated by adele and celine fans I assume

I don’t care what Celine says of course she would love another hit. She could hit us with whole “ I have nothing to prove” line that she adores but we all know that’s bullshit, she may not be desperate for it but she would defiantly love it and so would Sony.

 

Problem has never been they don’t want another hit, it’s that haven’t the single idea on how to achieve this, it’s watching a team that’s a deer in the headlights, totally lost. For example; They want to release songs like “ Save Your Soul” and “Loved Me Back To Life” and then on the same album add in a lullaby or some random cover from the 50s.

 

And that’s just one example, let’s not get stared on missed opportunities, music videos that could’ve been, or promotion.

but I think sony could make a far better job on their side, to make it more possible to create a new celine hit. First would be, let her being played more on radio stations. I know that not every single of her is super radio friendly, but certain songs are, for sure, like loved me back to life, incredible, I´m alive, ashes, ANDHC;TTWII, IDAN,OH, even my love or LCMM. Being played more on radios, would make her more recognizable for younger audiences and would show the general public, that she´s still very much there in the show business. That would be promotion without much things to do by celine or sony itself. If more people would be aware of her being still there with new music, songs (older public) and being recognized by younger audiences, it would increase her album sells, her streaming, youtube, spotify listeners and so on. With more people being aware of her still being there (being played more on the radios), more people will download a new single, a new album and would help her to get number one again...

by the way her album sells are still amazing, who else sells still more a million with an album, without being promoted in the most heacy way by their production company sony etc....? Not many I believe

When she was 20, that's all she lived for, but now she probably thinks well if it happens good, if not it's no big deal.

 

A duet with Adele would be good for radio airplay. Because as we know, Celine won't get much radio airplay anymore as she's considered "old" by the music industry.

And it was released as a single in several countries, such as France or Switzerland. They even sang this bilingual song on TV show during the promotion of On Ne Change Pas compilation album.

 

I wonder though whether they aired this bilingual version or the English only version when the song was released on AC radio in the USA.

This all very true, for the most part. But I don't think the fault lies solely on Celine or her team. Sony is very much responsible because I think they lost interest in promoting and investing much in Celine but that has changed recently imo. With her "Dionaissance" and after Ashes I think they have realized that Celine is still popular and can still do a lot with new music. Maybe not as much as more current artists but definitely a lot more. Who knows, maybe she'll surprise everyone, wouldn't be the first time. I hope this album is a big hit.

Well, EUS was Sony's biggest-selling album in the quarter it was released (and biggest / one of biggest for them that year; I don't quite recall).

 

No, the financial rewards form her recordings are not what they use to be - but she still sells albums (and tickets) like few other artists.

And there's actually a lot of money to be made for a label these days from catalogue - they're all starting specific catalogue-focused divisions & hiring people to beef up the existing ones. She's still very valuable to them.

It's like when she couldn't get pregnant and kept telling the media "if it happens, it happens", but privately she was gutted (as she has since admitted).
