So many impatient people on this forum... Guys, no need to be disrespectful towards Céline because there's no news!

(I don't know about YOUR Céline but MINE wouldn't be too impressed)

People should realize that Celine is no longer a popstar and she'll never be one anymore. Doesn't matter how hard she works or how cool she sounds. In fact, what she have today (respect from colleagues and press as a legend, a sucessfull Vegas residency, sold out concerts all around the world, respectable 1kk sales per album...) is more then any artist in her age could crave (specialy females).

I don't think Kev meant to offend any particular fanbase for having Céline on tour in their specific territories, but there's something about their certain "greed" with the constant touring every year, without doing anything new, then the type of minimal show they're offering and what she's singing (nothing new) and the price of tickets they're charging, which keeps increasing exponentially.

 

The last 3 consecutive tours have been easy money for her, without minimal effort on their side to put together such simple production (since they keep recycling the "concept" of past tours) so in a way, the impression she gives is that they only care about making huge profits with the smallest creative effort.

To understand Celine's career now one must first understand how music industry has changed in the last years. Even new "current" artists (unless you are Adele or Ed Sheeran) struggle to sell 1M albums. How much has Christina Aguilera sold and it was her first album in like 6 years? How much Lady Gaga or Katy Perry sold? Didn't Meghan Trainor cancelled her album just for the poor expectations? How many albums have Madonna, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Shania Twain, U2, Brian Adams.. released in the last 10 years? I'm sure Celine released more new music than any of her contemporaries.

 

Of course focus from artist and record companies is not on new music, it's on tours and shows where the money is. Everyone is killing for a residency in Vegas now.. who would have guessed this in 2002? Probably Rene did. I don't blame Celine for wanting to make money, but these summer tours not only put some cash in her pockets they also help her image and solidify her status as one of the top performers in the world. And this also helps selling albums later.

Lol so how much did Celine earn by touring these past years? How many biographies, DVDs, Albums with new music have there been?

 

You say people in Asia and Australia haven’t had a tour in 10 years.... they have also only had one album in that time too....

 

Moreover.... from where I’m sitting the tour they got was recycled from the past tours... The only new song performed came from an interview on the spot..... that’s the hight of creativity!

If the 2018 tour was just as creative as the 2016/2017 ones were it would have been a different story.

 

We all thought the 2017 one was to promote her new album, same goes for 2018 and still didn't happen.

 

She still could have sang new recorded songs, whether they appear on the new album or not.

Oh trust me, I've came "to these terms" a long time already and believe it or not, I actually agree with most of your 'complaints'... but unlike you, I find it completely unnecessary and pointless to repeat it over and over and over and over and over again. It won't help one bit and it will only frustrate yourself (and others) even more.

 

The magic word is acceptance. It's her career, it's her life, she's not obligated to do anything and again, while there's so much more left in her to give, she doesn't have to prove herself anymore, especially these days having achieved "legend" status. And if you can't accept it, either do something serious about it or be a fan of a different artist that matches your wishes (or demands). It's as simple as that.

 

 

 

Once more: this is what she wanted (and wants), she has more people than herself to think of now, it's simply the best of both worlds. If she really doesn't want to do it anymore, she won't, and there's nothing and no one (René) stopping her anymore. Again... accept the fact that she will probably perform in Vegas for the rest of her life and career. Too hard to handle? See above.

If you're saying she will perform the rest of her life in Vegas, it's a hard pill to swallow.

I refuse to believe that. Celine would do this just to ensure her twins are "set for life" financially.Then quit.Maybe when they turn 18.

But she can still do shows with more artistry and new material. Why is it only 2 choices.

Can you guys stop blaming Céline for a delayed album (if it really is)? If you knew how record labels worked you would stop blaming her.

I'm sure she thought the album would really be out by now. But with label politics, anything can happen. If Sony is not happy with songs, they will (and did) cancel albums and demand to start over - otherwise they just don't release it. Do you think the artist is happy with such decisions? Even artists have a boss to respond to. So chill.

And I'm not saying it's what's happening with the new album. It's possible. And it's also possible Sony just wants to get it right this time! Fingers crossed.

Interaction and marketing, creativity and strategy are at the point of frost.

And there was no official report on the album.

Let’s be honest here, since Celine was touring many places for the first time, she could have just farted into a microphone and the crowds would have loved it. This reason alone was probably a factor in deciding if it was worth the time to try anything new or not.

I don’t understand the complaning on the tours, the last 4 were great! We are not her main public, the casual fan is. Would there be so much complaning If the last three tours were a world tour with different legs? If you see it like that they have been quite creative.

The number of times I may have repeated something in this forum is directly proportional to the number & amount of lame excuses some of you find to justify that something has not happened or hasn't been done with Céline.

 

Where you find an excuse behind timing or a (clearly) incompetent record label that is no longuer supporting her the way they did once, remember that there are countless other artists who have already done it, with a tenth of budget and promotional means, in many cases with an independent record label way much modest in their powers, and with not even the hundredth position of recognition that Céline Dion has in the music industry If that doesn't help to release something every 2-3 years to your public, what does it???

 

In my book most of things that we're talking about and have not happened (cancelled releases, releases that are produced and ready but then inexplicably they don't want to make them happen etc) is due only to a word: LA-ZI-NESS. And a strong apathy and lack of interest. From both parts. And a great comfort zone for Céline for always doing the same thing without moving a finguer to alter anything.

Remember the DVD with EUS,or the re edition of Un Peu De Nous With DVD from the show that we all saw a commercial of last year...

I really don't see the problem with blaming Céline. Last time I checked she was a pop legend, not an amateur seeking a record company.And even so: some keep saying her team lives in the 90s but some of her fans as well : we can put out some new music the way we want to (didn't her own son do it?) .

 

So yes she is to blame and she already answer to that : she is not in the rush. You guys really need to get it. You are frustrated and blaming her won't change a thing.

@Frana, no... expressing an opinion is not blaming her. Blaming her is when people say "She said she would release an album but didn't..." or "She's touring but doesn't care about releasing her album" bla bla bla.

 

Anyway, all the crying won't change a thing. When the album is ready it will come out.

And don't forget that the label (Sony) decides when the album comes out. Not Céline. And I'm pretty sure she's finished recording it... but Sony might want some tweaking (adding/removing/changing a song or two). Hang in there it will come out eventually.
