your_light Posted March 27, 2018 at 04:58 AM Posted March 27, 2018 at 04:58 AM (edited) Is this something?? Looking through the sort of acts this producer has done work for has me curious about the outcome of this track with Celine (if this is indeed real). This collaboration seems pretty odd to me. Maybe this is an attempt to sound more current? Especially judging by America's obsession with urban music these days. Edit: this gangster talking producer is a far cry from the likes of David Foster... Edited March 27, 2018 at 05:01 AM by your_light 2 Quote

Javito Posted March 27, 2018 at 08:34 AM Posted March 27, 2018 at 08:34 AM (edited) About the already tiring topic of TCSV.2: first of all, if they didn't plan to release a second volume and continue the series in the future, they should have never called that album "The Collector's Series VOLUME ONE", to begin with If there was a Volume One, it's because a Volume Two was on the plans too, and that's beyond any kind of excuse. If you prepare a collection of CDs called "Series Volume X", it's because you have planned the release of a Volume Two (at least) to continue the collection, you release them and then when you finish the series you evaluate and do all the cash balance you want about the success/failure of the collection. You don't release a first volume and then forget about it for years to come (especially when Céline was a guarantee of unprecedented music sales in 2000). A quick search in Google says that TCSV.1 sold roughly 3.000.000 copies worldwide, having dispatched almost 1 million in the US market alone (914,000 copies exactly). I'd say that figure is not bad at all for an album that is a compilation album and consists only of previously released material!? There's even an entry that is automatically suggested when you google for info about the album and says "The Collector's Series Volume TWO", so that means there's people looking for the second volume and there's some interest at least. So sorry but I don't buy for a second the lame excuse that it might not have been released because sales were not as expected. Sales was probably the least concern for Sony Music's executives when it came to Celine Dion AND being in year 2000. It would probably won't even enter their heads to have low/bad sales of an album of hers, and if she did, they wouldn't care much when we are talking about a COMPILATION album (other thing is if she had released a brand new studio album in 2000 and she had only sold 1 million copies). Especially because in 2000, right in the middle of Celine's explosion of popularity everywhere and with her having the quote of "selling one album every second somewhere in the world", whatever good or mediocre sales this album would have had, it would have never been enough basis to cancel the series in year 2000 (when piracy wasn't even a problem yet). I would buy that excuse of sales performance had the album been released 5 years later, in 2005 or even a couple of years before in 2003, but not in 2000, when everything that had Céline's name on it was an inmediate attraction for the public and the media, and it meant money, and particularly when she was pulling out CDs on mass production on a yearly basis. Any excuse was a good excuse to release a new CD with the name of Celine Dion on it at that time The proof of this is that in 2008 she still had another "Greatest Hits" CD and double CD, released worldwide and with different tracklists depending on the region. If they had interest and took the trouble to release this in 2008, why didn't they release a TCSV.2 in all those years? Simply because they didn't care (and pro So no, I don't buy that poor argument of low sales to justify we never had a second volume of this album. Better say that they directly lost interest in this album and the rest with Céline's name on it since 2003. The only reason why a second volume never happened is because Céline went into retirement, she came back with a new album (which new music is 100 times preferred by a record label than a releasing a compilation album), and after that, since she entered Vegas in 2003, everything she has released has been ruined by her record label, being Sony Music an absolute mess with her album releases, singles, and everything in between since then. THAT is way more plausible than the lame argument of "poor sales" in year 2000 Edited March 27, 2018 at 08:58 AM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

celine4evauk Posted March 27, 2018 at 09:05 AM Posted March 27, 2018 at 09:05 AM They don't necessarily have to put all of these things out to be quite honest. It takes money to put these things together, and to package it and release them. Celine still sells decently on her own. Maybe not the way she used to, and I'm sure someone more savvy in research than I could bring up some numbers for the year thus far. She also still sells out concerts without putting out new material...that's a huge feat; to still be in demand without having to even release anything. The artist is more apt to put something out or brainstorm an idea for the fans. The record company is just out for the paycheck. If they don't have to release something, they're not going to put the money into doing so. Oh yeah totally agree with you. I was really talking about years gone by when cd sales were higher and they kept re releasing a few of her albums without any difference to them lol. No, they’re not going to release much from her now. So it will be years between albums, and I’ll be surprised if any live performances/full concerts are released. Quote

Drake hasn't even done anything that remotely sounds like something that David Foster would produce... I mean you could argue that just because they have (totally) different sounds doesn't mean they can't collaborate, but it's just so odd to me. Celine's music has always been melody focused imo, so the only thing I see Drake bringing to the table is just a rap to be placed somewhere, which is totally unnecessary. Quote

In this world we live in, nothing is set in stone and things can change any second now. Let alone decisions made over/for a long time.I guess you never change your plans (late minute or in advance)? Well, Drake is hitting up David Foster for a collab. And we all know from there, it's a straight line to Celine. Not really, as David hasn't done anything with Céline for a LONG time. And like he's said in that article, his sound is a bit dated and I reckon that's why Céline's team hasn't collaborated with him again.
