Anybody else think this album is a definite fall release now? (I do still think we'll get it this year).

I think it's even less definate now and it all depends on how she will do after the surgery.

We might don't need a physical release

If for any reason the album doesn't come out this year, her publisher should release a special digital EP with some rare songs to pleasent the fans.

I love how Celine fans have lost all faith in the new album already... I’m sure it will come this year... it’s only March...

We lost faith in many releases already Kevin... her record label has given their back to her and ignored the fans with many possible releases that we lost count already.

The record company can't turn their back on releases where an idea never even existed.

TCSV2 is never going to happen. It was promising in 2000 when volume 1 was released...but it's now been 18 years. Not going to happen. It would be healthy for all of us to just move on from that.

Idk why there is still this lack of understanding on the forum that Celine is no longer at the peak of her career, and that she is not Sony's top priority as there are current top 40 artists on their labels that they need to push harder. Celine had her time where Sony put in their millions to build her popularity and then sustain it when she was at the top of everything. Now she's a legacy artist, and that's not a bad thing. The industry (as we all know) is very different; and the money that used to be there; just isn't. So, the record labels have to be much more picky about where they spend and who they spend it on. Of course that's going to go toward the current, popular top 40 acts; who are either rising in their careers, or sustaining their plateau of high popularity.

Well put! Being a legacy artist is a whole different ball game, but what an honorable place to be.

True, but to me with being a legacy artist, it usually means they release the back catalogue etc. With Celine they tend to keep releasing the same few albums with nothing new on them! Probably the one thing that truly surprised me was the fact they never released her first French albums on cd. Only those two compilation albums. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never understood that one 😂

Oh dear  What a surprise, I got a quote from CelinesDivo, who has been more than two weeks without posting... and of course he only comes out of his retirement to answer back one of my posts-what a surprise!

Ahhh, they say a word to the wise is sufficient, but some people here are so thick headed, or they pretend to be :whistling:

Aaaaand here we go with the "peak" thing (must be your favourite word to use related with Céline by now :whee: ). First of all, nobody said anything here about being at her peak or not  , you bring this back again... and you mix up again topics that nobody has mentioned and have nothing to do with releasing a new CD these days. Putting out an album today for a singer can be done with such easiness that it can be recorded, arranged and producer at the convenience of your own home. With just a computer. There are hundreds of singers that do this today and with great results. Not that I mean with this that Celine should sit at home and record it while she's sick, but... if there's someone in this industry with the means to do an album in the blink of an eye... that's her.

Also, we've discussed countless of times ago how we have been literally inundated with dozens of editions of her classic albums in all kinds of collections, boxsets and repackaged series, during many years, one after the other. And we've talked another countless of times how many unreleased stuff is there, hidden at their own greediness, for not sparing any of those unreleased tracks with the fans over these years. It's not like it's impossible, and it's not like they can't do that. It's just they don't want to CARE about it. They don't care about doing any single move with her name and her catalogue these days, simply because they've lost all interest apparently. But not because it's not money-wise or any of that rubbish about her "legacy" status

Btw, and just for the record, did you know 10 years ago she had some albums released on a Sony Music label that is precisely called "LEGACY recordings"? So if she's reached that "legend" status, who else would be more suitable to expand that catalogue than her?!

But above all: this year she's turning 50 within 4 days. And she hasn't had an English release since 5 years ago. It's the perfect time to release something, either new or old (or both!). If her record company is so uncaring, apathetic and disinterested not to release anything to commemorate this anniversary, for one of her most important household names during decades, they're simply a bunch of ungrateful people working there.

For much less we have seen Sony Music and many other record labels releasing beautiful special editions, anniversary editions and box sets for countless singers who have (or have had) a much less successful and prolific career than Céline, who has filled Sony Music's pockets with millions for many years. That's enough reason to do something for her TODAY, either with her involvement or not (as they do when they please). The rest are only lame excuses, which could have some basis with other minor singers, but not with Céline Dion!

Period! :flowers:

And another contradiction of the naysayers here... how many times do we have to read that Céline is an "album seller"? If she is not the ideal profile to keep having albums released in either form (call it studio album/compilation album/TCSV.2 or whatever), even in 2018, then who is better than her for that purpose?

Last but not least: releasing new albums keeps your career alive and current.

Excusing Sony Music for not putting out anything related with Céline on a basis of 5 years now is almost as defending you don't want her to release any new music anymore just because "it's not what it sells now" (which is blatantly false in the case of an artist like Céline Dion) or the bland argument that "it's not where the money is". Because following CelinesDivo's reasoning, Sony Music would only have to care about releasing her future albums in digital format, because "the money is not there" anymore... But we know that if an album is released digitally today, it's because a physical edition is coming at the same time. So it's nosense to deny a physical CD today, thinking it's not money-wise, when we all perfectly know that if a digital album is released, it's because a physical CD is following too. At least by now, and so far.

(Oh dear I don't even know why I am explaining this obvious thing... well it's just for the thick-headed minds around here who try to defend the in-de-fen-si-ble laziness of Céline's record label towards her :innocent: )

They don't necessarily have to put all of these things out to be quite honest. It takes money to put these things together, and to package it and release them. Celine still sells decently on her own. Maybe not the way she used to, and I'm sure someone more savvy in research than I could bring up some numbers for the year thus far. She also still sells out concerts without putting out new material...that's a huge feat; to still be in demand without having to even release anything. The artist is more apt to put something out or brainstorm an idea for the fans. The record company is just out for the paycheck. If they don't have to release something, they're not going to put the money into doing so.

I am extremely flattered that you're keeping tabs on the frequency of my posts, but it's truly not necessary. It was also unnecessary to respond with arrogance and snark when I actually just gave a simple response to the conversation at hand, which I just happened to be reading today. My desire to respond had nothing to do with the fact that you posted something, nor was it disrespectful or condescending in any way...much unlike your response to me.

My entire response was also not only TO YOU. Only the first sentence was truly a direct response to the post of yours that I quoted. The rest of my post was in response to the plethora of comments that have been made going back a couple of pages.

But anyway, the level at which Celine is being promoted has very much to do with the status of her career. She's beyond established. It's not going to be the same as what they're doing for someone like Camila Cabello right now; where they are trying to build up her popularity and get her on a plain of success to carry her into superstardom. Honestly, Sony doesn't need to do much to keep Celine's name out there; as she and her team have done a pretty damned good job over the past couple of years on their own.

I'm not saying at all that it's fruitless to wonder what they have in the vault; or to want something to come of it. I just feel that expectations are a little too high when we already know how Sony has been operating. Why bother being so annoyed about it? It's not going to change anything.

Also, just because someone may have a studio set up in their home; it doesn't mean that it's "so easy" to record and produce an album. It still takes work if you want to put quality records out. The songs don't just mix themselves, and a lot of the time after whatever is done at home; songs get sent out to a master studio for finishing touches/additional mixing and/or production. You can also tell the difference between an independently produced song on a Mac computer and that of a song produced in an actual studio. Which would you prefer to hear from Celine? I'll take the latter.

Celine not being at her peak (oh look, I said it again) has very much to do with the conversation that is being had here. When it's being discussed that her label doesn't push her as much, or make more of an effort to release things, or make her a priority...this is why. They no longer need to. The label has younger artists whom they are trying to establish and have them bring money in for the label. Popular music purchases have always been geared toward a specific demographic. As the newer generations come up, there is a new audience to cater to. The audience that was catered to at the time of Celine's highest point of popularity are still buying her music and concert tickets. Job well done by Sony in that department. Now they have other artists to make sure the same measures are taken for. It's really very simple.

I'm actually not sure of any other artist that had an album from this series. I'm wondering if it just didn't perform as well as they wanted it to.

TCS was a Celine-only release. The compilation series you may be thinking of is “Playlist.” That, to my knowledge, has been retired.

He made it looks like he just worked with her last week.

But that would not be possible.

So maybe her is working on the songs!

Not necessarily.

She may be well enough to record, but not well enough to do a full show, if the problem is an 'on-and-off' issue. She can always redo a take, but she can't exactly keep restarting songs if she were to do a string of shows without nipping this thing in the bud.

Anyway, looks like he deleted / reposted the tweet?
