I don’t think she was aiming for a “hit” with Recovering. It was a deeply personal project that she wanted to release in hopes of helping others. It came out around the same time I lost my aunt who was more of a grandmother to me than anything. I rarely get through the song without sobbing like a baby. In a good way, if that makes sense. We all need that emotional release from time to time. I’m very thankful for the song and find it incredibly beautiful and moving.

pink literally wrote her WORST song and gave it to Céline... That song wouldn't be a hit regartless of the singer, not even Rihanna could turn that snooze filler a hit

problem was and is that too bring the full potential of that song drumsamples or live samling should have been used, because with those normal drums it missed the groove of the song. The bass and drums are a huge part of the song. Even the electric guitarsolo sounded better in the studiorecording. When she did the song live it completely missed the mark

People stop complain about recovering , it wasn't Pink fault.

The song is a tribute to Rene, maybe I'll just add a few production, and that was a fault from the producer, not from Pink.

Pink only gave her a demo, not a song ready to add the vocals. 😑

 

There were no music video, to put a song on charts

today we only need one thing, streaming

 

A music video, is 80% of the song

Well I never suggested that. I just said that the lead single would likely not be released on her birthday next week because she's going to undergo surgery which would likely prohibit her from doing any TV appearances. Edited March 22, 2018 at 08:07 PM by brendanm999

Indeed, music videos are EVERYTHING today when it comes to sharing a song in social networks, and Celine hasn’t had one since ages ago. A music video can say way more than an audio track alone, and they can make a song viral (if good enough) when the song alone is crap. There are countless of cases about this.

 

She hasn’t had a videoclip since 2013 (and for a flop single). That’s been a huge mistake either from her and/or her team!

Didn’t the beatles have simple chord schemes too?

Simple chord schemes can be a very smart move.

And for Recovering, it works (for me, and for others who love this song). Simplicity can make it easier to express the emotions. And that is what happened here, imo.

Yep! And the lines “little by little, day by day, one step at a time” sums grief up to me. I was always, and some days still, just put one foot in front of the other. Absolutely love it, and wish we had a live cd recording of it, because she just got better and better at performing it live.

But like others have said, this wasn’t a lead single from a new album. It was what it was. A song from the heart about what she was going through. And for those who are also grieving, or have grieved could relate to. It’s heartbreaking but also healing too.

I’m sure the first song from the next album will be a strong one! And yes a fab mv would be great too 😁

they should have done a video for LMBTL, it was a much better song and deserved a video

Recovering has been really helpful to me lately. I actually enjoy that it’s not a bombastic ballad, it’s just a simple song. I think it speaks to many people because it’s simple and so many people can relate. I love it live because she’s not trying to hit any runs, she just simply sings the song, and it’s so moving.

This is kind of insulting... " Recovering" is the first true song Celine sings for years if she ever has sung something true to herself and not just simply silly love balladas for old teens. I feel sad about people that can not find beauty in simplicity and need all these bombastic chorus and long high notes... that it doesn't mean anything if they have no true sense. About P!nk.. for me this is one of the most interesting works along with that collab album called "You+Me", much interesting at least that this typical P!nk cool songs about "we are a world united all together" .

But yes, this is just my opinion, as you have yours, but sometimes I just feel angry about how categoric and radical some of you are talking aboutsongs some of us feel like gems, (Recovering, My love, or A Song for you)

And as I always say, this is why Celine can never have a concept album because she has to please very different kind of fans....

I disagree, Recovering is absolutely beautiful, breathtaking and touching live. Her delivery brought me to tears in Vegas. Everyone was so quiet and you could hear people crying around me. I prefer the live performance to the recording.

Must admit I found the live version of ML a bit of a shambles. It lost its meaning cos of all the interruptions from the audience. But then again I’m sure some prefer it that way 😂

My favorite performance of ML is the Jay Leno performance. I think it was just so beautiful

I was referring more to the changed arrangement from "mid-tempo" studio version to "ballad" live version.. and if that would've maybe worked better for 'Recovering' too (or not)..

that emotion that she brings when singing, the gestures and her eye movements...that is our Celine. A great performance!
