Quebec (Canada) and the UK / France will do well with this new album but I'm curious as to the appetite for Celine's new album in America.

 

Justin Timberlake just opened @ #1 but sold about 250,000 copies--and that was after a 100 million people watch the super bowl. Mind you, his new material stinks. That's a low figure. And he's a major on-the radio at the moment star.

 

I think If Celine releases a "Celine" song that sounds fresh and modern but still Celine and not trying to sound too hip ; (I liked LMBTL , but many people who are Celine fans did not like that song), then she can easily sell 100K out of the gate. Going in Gold in America now for her, would be a feat. But thats how our industry changed.

In the U.K., Justin’s album enters this week on the Official Chart at number two and only sold half the number of copies as No. 1 which is The Greatest Showman soundtrack- and this it’s 5th week on the chart (at No. 1).

It pees me off every time she says that... just because she is at the top doesn't mean she can't make people love her more.....

I got a glimpse of that attitude of her every time she said that Kev, and the problem is that she has been saying that since she got comfy in Vegas around 2004/2005... in every single interview she gave.

However after Rene died she was being loved, the audience loves her, her colleagues admire her.

 

But the industry is just focused on bad songs sung by girls with almost no clothes on.

 

If they want her single to be a big succes, it needs to be soooo good that it cant be denied by radio.

 

But the fact that Sony really doesn't care to push for her songs on the radio I dont see it happen.

 

Her album will sell anyway that's for sure.

But they could just push it a bit more. Who knows what their strategy is but I doubt it will be different than the last years

Today I heard ANDHC (remix) on radio here in Serbia. Although not at all my favorite Celine song, but that song is so radio friendly in my opinion...

What would it achieve though? As far as I’m concerned it’s the fact Celine has little time to promote that’s the problem. Yes they won’t send her to radio but it’s probably for that very reason. I thought the promo for LMBTL wasn’t too bad but it was Vegas that got in the way as usual and then René getting sick

Hm. Do you think the things would be different under another label? I'm not really sure. It might be even risky. Sony and Céline are partners for so many years. Also, she doesn't seem to show that much enthusiasm towards her recording career and therefore I don't see her making such a big step by changing a record label in order to boost the promotion. I think she just feels fine with Sony.

Maybe, they are exactly what she needs, someone to allow her to just work on her speed, don't know.

 

But they could promote her stuff through the radio still or some other stuff where she doesn't need to be present.

I personally don’t think Sony would let her go if she tried.... they would offer her something.... she has been a cash cow for years and I believe they are proud to have Celine Dion as their artist, especially right now!

 

We blame Sony for this and that but it’s up to Celine to make time for music videos, apperences etc.... I’m sure Sony weren’t behind the EUS video not coming out...

 

She has lacked a creative team for some time with no direction... that’s the problem

If Celine went to another label she’d have to prove herself, make them money etc. She’s done this for Sony and therefore has earned their loyalty. She still makes them enough for them to want her, and they let her record every few years etc. They don’t demand a new album every two years for example. Like she used to, or every year lol. Maybe if she didn’t have young kids, or a residency it would be different. Like others have said, the past few years there’s been a resurgence for Celine. Let’s see what happens with this next album, sales/ promo/ etc, as we all know this is somewhat unfamiliar ground for her. First English album without Rene’s input. We can’t really compare this one with any other album, like I said, it’s different. New beginnings. As Celine says “the best is yet to come” 😀

If the record company says "we are not going to push this song on radio" or "we do not send out enough albums for the release date"

For me this attitude of "we won't do enough because she will sell anyway,or the "she won't be played on a certain radio" also shows a lack of interest, and that indeed she is their cashcow.

 

She needs to be surrounded by creative people who give her a little push in the right direction.

Lack of a creative young manager isn't helping either.

In fairness The Queen came to where I work a few years ago and it was an amazing experience. We planned it for months, even redecorated the whole building and everything stopped for that one day. When she came round everything just went silent we were all so in awe. She didn't need to do anything just her being there was amazing. I was lucky enough to get to talk to her for a minute and as soon as the conversation had finished I could barely remember what the conversation was about.

 

Does that sound like a familiar experience to anyone who has met Celine? Maybe she acts like The Queen because we treat her like The Queen.

Lol totally agree. The Queen came to our town a few years ago and all a few of us from work did was wave to her and Prince Phillip as they drove by and our whole store was buzzing for the entire day 😂 Totally the same kind of reaction when meeting/seeing Queen Celine! 🤣

Last year was so ripe for Celine to release her album--Billboard Awards, The Grammys,The Met Gala, attention from VOGUE, UK and Europe Concerts....

 

And this year we have......................

 

Possibly the MET Gala again --??? If she makes the list....

 

She missed the Grammys. She could do Billboard awards??

 

Would be ideal to launch her turning 50 by VOGUE putting her on their cover!

I really don’t think she’s doing nothing. That’s not what she does.

 

If they’re going to launch something, they’ll launch it. But unless they just drop the album on her birthday out of the blue or something, we’re gonna have to wait. That’s not their style though and generally the machine does go into overdrive leading up to a release- and last year would have been perfect. But, it depends on the song they choose to drop first. If it’s a stinker, then it’ll all be in vain, sales-wise.

 

Maybe a lovely, happy summer album would be good? It doesn’t have to be only March or November.

 

It amazed me in 2016 the amount of promo around the summer and EUS. The Today concert, the show she co-hosted with what’s her name? She was buzzing that summer! But it all depends on the song if there’s any point to promo. Taking Chnces, and LMBTL were questionable singles and we know WAAF was originally going to be the lead single until that brat, Merryweather got above himself.

 

This time (pun not intended) I want it to be magical and golden and I want love dripping from every pore in her big nose.
