SuperLove4Celine Posted January 29, 2018 at 09:11 PM Posted January 29, 2018 at 09:11 PM She's often said that some songs just don't translate well to the (big) stage.A lot of the songs she professes to love, may fall in that category. Doesn't mean she doesn't genuinely love them. The only song I have ever heard her say didn't transition well to the "big stage" was "Falling Into You." However, Celine is now in a nice, moderately-sized theater in Las Vegas. The Colosseum is far more intimate than a 10,000+ seat arena. These "intimate songs," if this term applies to more than just "Falling Into You," could have easily worked during the run of "A New Day...," and most certainly now with the orchestra theme. For example: "Falling Into You": Beautiful aerielists falling from cloth, ribbons, etc. from the ceiling. This would have been during "A New Day..." "Miles To Go (Before I Sleep)": Could easily work as an acoustic song during the acoustic medley. A moment during "Celine" which could easily showcase some of her lesser-known songs, not a spot where three of her well-known songs are to be butchered to death. "Us": A massive orchestral moment during "Celine." I have faith Scott could create an amazing arrangement for this song for the Vegas stage. "A Song For You": Could have easily worked in the spot where "Recovering" is positioned before that song was presented to Celine by P!nk. "Right Next To The Right On": Same as "Miles To Go (Before I Sleep)." A perfect contender for the acoustic medley in "Celine." Also, could have worked well after "Eyes On Me" during the "Taking Chances World Tour." It could have been a "cool down" moment from the dancing. It would have been a beautiful moment. At the very least, the instrumentation could have been worked into a cool interlude. The "D'elles" album: So many possibilities with practically, if not indeed, every single song on this album. Instead, only two songs have been showcased on a consistent basis with "Immensite" only being the last few years. That's my two cents. 6 Quote

manu23 Posted January 29, 2018 at 09:36 PM Posted January 29, 2018 at 09:36 PM Sony relesed a limited number of singles for MHWGO because they wanted to sell both albums instead, LTAL and Titanic OST. At that time sales weighted more than airplay, if they had put more singles in the stores MHWGO would have probably broken all records in the Hot 100. 6 Quote

Maybe she likes them so much that she doesn't want to sing them on an industrial basis in order not to wear them out? Some songs you quoted I adore them but I don't listen to them very often.I don't know why...maybe that's the same for her. On top of that, she already brought back some rare songs during her last 2 tours. Let's see what the future holds. It's a good way for her to sing them some time without getting tired of them. She also stated that she wanted to do some shows with unknown songs... like she said SOME.Not night after night... I know that she could sing them in Vegas and change setlist every run, at least 1 song. But for some reasons, she doesn't. I think that's a mix of laziness, organization ( musicians have to learn the song too, they have to rehearse it, etc...all this for 10 nights for a audience that doesn't give a d*** about it)....Vegas is not the right place to do it IMO Plus, she might like them , listen to them and sing them at home. Who knows? Stating she likes those songs ant not singing them on stage isn't contradictory. She can sing them whenever she wants to :-) 2 Quote

smw Posted January 31, 2018 at 08:09 PM Posted January 31, 2018 at 08:09 PM (edited) I hope Celine can record across a lengthy period of time and it works. Encore un Soir is such a lovely album, and I hope for the same for her new English record. I can’t help but think about the spotty recording process for LMBTL. Recorded across a long period of time. That recording process left us with a spotty album. So I hope this new album will be more cohesive with a through-line / theme / beautiful vocals / gorgeous classic Celine arrangements and songs Celine is proud of and relates to. How long did it take her to record Encore un Soir? I know Rene was passing when she started that album which, of course, delayed the process. But I’m sure his passing also ultimately gifted the album with so much heart and honesty. Edited January 31, 2018 at 08:11 PM by smw 1 Quote
