Back in 2012 a lot of people had big hopes for the Celine/Ne-Yo duet, then once the song was released in 2013 all hopes felt flat.

 

To be honest I can’t stand Adele so a Celine duet with her wouldn’t make me jump of joy at all.

Don’t compare the success Ne-Yo could enjoy back then with the craziness Adele has been creating around her every time she appears somewhere for the last 7-8 years (and the monstrous conséquent sales).

 

Plus, Ne-Yo’s fanbase was a different one from Céline’s. Whereas Adele and Céline can seduce and receive huge support from a same group 😉

Thank God, you're not alone! I'm sick of hearing the Adele duet thing. Céline needs no duet with Adele, nor with anyone. And if she needs one to come back, that means her own name alone is not enough to sell, and that would be worrying.

 

But she alone is capable of doing marvels. Her messy team just needs to get their thing right and choose a bunch of bombastic singles and promote them right.

 

Adele can stay living her own success. And btw, she does no duets, if you haven't noticed. I don't know why she should record one with Céline if she's clearly not going that way. Not still at least

Realistically, it is not [enough]. Not with the *demands* some fans have.

If she were to have a big hit or capture a new audience in a big swoop or convert other fans, a duet with a big and current artist is the only way to go.

I don't like it either, but the chances of Céline having a hit on her own are slim to none these days.

 

Unless we let go of her having a big hit.... then no duets would be perfect.

In this job, you cannot let pass 5 years without giving new music to your public, not even 2 years, and Celine has been away from that process too much time already. From releasing a new album every 1/2 years she passed to spend 5 years in the most absolute silence, absorbed in her (consuming) commitments with her Vegas show. So stupid.

 

Sony stopped releasing collector’s editions, special editions etc. From 2007 to 2010 they inundated us with box sets, repackaged editions and collector editions. Today? Nada.

 

No TCSV.2 (and God knows there have been multiple perfect occasions to release that one)

 

No re-releases of her old catalogue, or anniversary editions of her best-selling albums, just to remind her public that her career is active and still going, with a record label that works for her.

 

They stopped everything... only performing countless cloned shows is what counts for her team. Milking the performing machine she has become. But nothing new to present and sing. So stupid.

 

So many mistakes they’ve committed, so many things they have neglected, and yet they haven’t learnt... Pity!

Blaming it all on Sony though? If I'm being honest this feels like it's Celine's decision all the way. All her last albums in English at least get her excited for about a year and soon she loses all interest in all of the songs and never mentions or performs them again (lmbtl and tc being an exception since she did sing them in 2017). Idk I'm just speculating here, so don't get me wrong but it feels to me like she hasn't found the right material after the 90s and early 00s that will really make her stick to the album and promote it bc she really believes in it. Does that make sense?

If a duet is good enough for Beyoncé and Ed Sheeran, I think it's perfectly fine for Céline and Adele.

I think Céline needs a big duet to gain full attention of radios with her new album (in the US at least).

After that, she can fly on her own...

If she can set out for a new tour on a yearly basis now and during almost two months, she can surely record 10-12 songs every year if she wanted, and even self publish them herself (like other artists with infinite less possibilities than her do nowadays). But above all -and this is the most powerful reason-, a live show during a tour is only available to those who she visit or those who live near the place where she sings (usually), and it's costly (the tickets, arranging the travel etc. She became costly too! lol). However, a new album is available for everyone immediately upon its release and costs less than $20

 

With a new album release, everyone wins.
