So again, with Céline, let's expect the unexpected, she loves different songs (whatever that means for her). We may find very personal songs in this album that she may love... but it won't be exactly be the most commercial/best ones for us :hmm: :giggle:

Exactly. WE all have different favorites, songs that mean different things to us.

What& Where's the story of RNTTRO?

If she loved it so much she shouldve perhaps sang it on her tour and Vegas....

Hahaha don't you know about that one? You may be surprised to know that actually it was Céline the one who pushed to include RNTTRO in the TC album! When everyone in the team was doubting and saying to her if she was sure to include this song, she was even more determined with it, because she loved how different it was from the rest.

Just because Celine loved the song etc still won’t make me like it 🤣

I’m glad she picks different types of songs, different styles etc. Some we’ll love, some we won’t 👍

As for fillers- even these we can enjoy, take them for what they are. They may not be strong enough to be a hit single etc but you can still like them! Personally I love Aun Existe Amor, Dreamin Of You to name a couple. Not that I’m calling them fillers btw - others on here have. 😀

Starting to really believe this new album will be great!😃

omg! Are you serious??

RNTTRO brings a lot more quality to that album, makes it a lot more mature, it does fit with TC and it (finally) showed Celine had good taste too

Especially because of the amazing songwriter it came from

Super love, Rain tax, Aun existe amor, Dreamin of you, I love you.. that's what you call cheap album fillers

You can not even compare those songs with the quality level of RNTTRO

Rain, Tax is the only song out of those 4 that I don't like lol. I "love, love, love" DOY!!!

Haha I know you love that song..

It's not about the lyrics in this (I did have this song translated 15 years ago btw) but mainly about the cheesiness. I think it goes beyond anything that can be consider as tasteful. Mainly because it's the biggest rape of one of her own French songs. L'amour Existe Encore is one of the most honest love songs she ever recored in French. It's remarkable that you can turn a beautiful song like that into something as corny as Aun Existe Amor.

The production, the arrangement and not to mention those despicable backing vocals... (especially the ones after 2:45... who still make me want to kill myself)

I think we can consider any Spanish song from Celine on an English record an album filler.. simply because the majority won't understand it and it actually makes no sense. And when it's done, even more corny that Dreamin' of You or I Love You, yes.. to me it absolutely is an album filler.

That doesn't mean you can't love, or in your case I guess adore, a song like that. I loved it too when i was 16. LOVED IT.

And still every few years I listen to it and I love it and I really hate it in a weird way only Celine can make it happen.

But even when you love it, I think we should agree on it that it wasn't born from good taste.

Jesus  I don't think I've ever read a post with so many consecutive absurdities put together, but I'll take it's your opinion and hence I respect it... or just that you had a bad day

Where to begin... I could start by saying that being a Spaniard I cannot be unbiased on this (because hell yes, I love the song, why wouldn't I?), I could also justify that they came to choose one of her best songs to be adapted into Spanish (not in vain they also did it in English), but no, it's not only that, certainly not, there's more into it than that... Let's see:

1) CORNY? CHEESINESS? Tasteful? Are we talking about Celine Dion here still? Celine Dion is regarded by and large and in every corner of the planet as one of the most cheesy, corny singles ever successful, if not the queen of cheesiness. And for that she's adored AND slated on equal parts  Hello??? We're talking about Celine Dion here, not an irreverent singer ala Madonna, or a trouble maker, politically incorrect singer-songwriter. "Corny" should come in Céline's middle name, she's Céline "Cheesy" Dion by definition lol. And 220 million owners of one of her albums are totally okay with that. What translation did you expected, then? A version of Céline openly singing in Spanish about AIDS and screaming her heart out imploring you to use the rubber so as not to get the virus (as the background story of the song is about?) :innocent:

I suggest you read the acclaimed book by Carl Wilson "Let's Talk About Love: A Journey To The End Of Taste", where he analises how a singer with such huge repertoire of edulcorated, saccharined, "schmaltzy" songs, has got to achieve such elevated success and sales around the world.

Yeah... Aun Existe Amor is a corny song... And what's The Power Of Love? Because You Loved Me? My Heart Will Go On??? (I won't add laughing emojis because I would have to fill a page of them). Yeah, guess it's a Celine Dion song by definition then with all its "Celine Dion song" elements on it

Only this argument would invalidate the rest of your post and I shouldn't bother to continue but...

2) About the arrangements, the backing vocals. The song was arranged to give it a latin vibe and the typical latin sound of these songs totally on purpose. Latin/Spanish songs are loaded with those guitars and backing vocals. Big news!!

3) "I think we can consider any Spanish song from Celine on an English record an album filler.. simply because the majority won't understand it and it actually makes no sense." Now I've seen many incoherences, but this sentence takes the biscuit :mdr:

"I think we can consider any Spanish song from Celine on an English record an album filler.. simply because the majority won't understand it". Please tell me you weren't serious with this and you were just trying to get on my nerves and be provoking. Please. I'd rather take that than knowing a Celine Dion fan (presumably, now I start to doubt that) has said that in one of her forums, in 2018 and after 30 years of career.

Do we apply the same to her FRENCH songs? Do the fans that don't understand a single song in French say that all her French songs and albums are fillers in her career simply because they don't understand her in French? What about the French songs she includes in her English shows in Vegas or while on tour, and people rave about them? For God's sake

And then... this on a side note. Let me remind you that her best 3 best-selling albums are precisely those that included and were marketed with a song in Spanish, Falling Into You, Let's Talk About Love and A New Day Has Come. Coincidentally? :whee:

Again, I urgently recommend you the book by Carl Wilson about Céline's success. it has been written for people who thinks exactly like you have written your post (are you really a Celine Dion fan?  ) :giggle:

Aun Existe Amor is great song too. I think it's better than the 1991 french studio version. But i like the french version (not the studio version 1991) I like the live version of this song (A L'Olympia)

 The live version on the Olympia CD as well as the Live à Paris version are even better than the studio version!

There are many songs she’s said the same about: “Us,” “Miles To Go (Before I Sleep),” “A Song For You” and the entire “D’elles” album, etc. She really needs to start putting her money where her mouth is. Otherwise, the authenticity factor behind her statements becomes weak, if not outright false. To be fair, she did sing “A Song For You” ONCE during the “Taking Chances World Tour,” and a very small handful of times during the promo circuit for the “Taking Chances” album. However, that doesn’t quite show she had much love for the song.

There’s a strong discordance between what songs she says she loves and what she performs later. And then there’s the case of her Celine show (version 2011) and the bing of covers, totally random and unrelated with her name.

Or naming her French album “Sans Attendre” after the lyrics of one song and never performing it. That doesn’t speak much about her favorites and the “love” she professes to these certain songs...

Definitely goes to show how different everyone's tastes are. I'm not a fan of RNTTRO, but LOVE all of the "cheap album fillers" that you mention. :giggle: I appreciate that Celine has offered so many different styles throughout her career and her latest statements make me even more excited for this new album.

A lot of great conversation on this thread the past couple of days. :thumbsup2:

She's often said that some songs just don't translate well to the (big) stage.

A lot of the songs she professes to love, may fall in that category. Doesn't mean she doesn't genuinely love them.

"Well, here I am with Celine. The entire session was videotaped by Sony Records. I hope you enjoy it when it's released (don't know the release date yet). Tell you what, Celine Dion is one amazingly talented and fearless lady. She's got an amazing voice and artistically, she jumped right in there with Herbie, Terri Lyne and myself. In fact, one of the songs we did was a free improvised piece. (Yes, believe it.) We had a lot of fun."

"Hmmmmmm.....interesting. I just got a call to record with Celine Dion this week in Las Vegas. Should be interesting. Me, Herbie Hancock and Terri Lyne Carrington are in the rhythm section. I'll keep you posted. DIdn't realize Celine was THAT hip. :-) "

Watching the pre-televised Grammy ceremony at www.grammy.com and Christian just picked up another one (his 5th as the leading man, I believe). Sitting here wondering... will we EVER hear that session with Celine?

This topic is so out of hand. All I can hope is that the next two months off she wraps this damn project up and gets in out before years end. That's all I can hope. Personally would love to see a March/April release but I doubt that given how damn slow she is.

November / Q4 releases no longer play in her favour.

Well it only sold 200,000 more than IACBTMN. And TECHNICALLY Im Your Angel outsold BYLM. But you may say that BYLM is better because its just her solo. But IYA sold 2.1 Million copies in the US since 1999. Also its not her biggest selling single thats wrong. That was MHWGO

You're COMPLETELY wrong, according to BILLBOARD, BYLM is her MOST successful song in the usa, and when it comes to copies sold, BYLM sold over 6m WW, it's Céline's 2nd best selling single

My Heart will Go On sold WAY over 2 Million copies in the USA. It was her biggest hit. Everyone knows that. Im Your Angel is RIAA certified as having 2 Million copies sold in the USA. It hit number one for 6 weeks I believe. It nearly won a grammy something BYLM did not.

Says the one who "attacked" me when I said that Céline's accent in EUS (album) was awful.

I don't see the relation between quality and language.

Then "La lettre de Georges Sand" is a masterpiece.

I like "La lettre de Georges Sand" :)
