helios.apollon Posted November 15, 2013 at 05:29 AM Posted November 15, 2013 at 05:29 AM I'm just saying that you can't compare Xtina and Celine because Xtina is still considered a mainstream artist. So, someone like her where the radio would play a good song by her on top 40 can't be compared to Celine, who is now off the peak of her career. So a flop in Christina standards, is not a flop in Celine standards based on where they both are in their careers now. Soundtracks do not count as albums. They are a different entity from being a formal album. I remember reading an article that said "The Bodyguard Soundtrack" was not included in Whitney's formal album sales. Even on Wikipedia, it's not listed in her formal studio album discography. Neither is "The Preacher's Wife Soundtrack" which was not only performed by Whitney, but she also co-produced the entire project. Soundtracks are totally separate from studio albums. Im not really sure that ur theory about soundtracks is correct to be honest... specially when it comes to soundtracks that are performed almost totally by 1 artist... take a look at this page from RIIA... http://riaa.com/goldandplatinum.php?content_selector=top-100-albums u'll see that bodyguard soundtrack comes under the name of whitney Houston... and tho some positions below it comes titanic and the name of the artist is SOUNDTRACK... that's why I think there's 2 different cases when it comes to the OST albums... I think when the majority of the ost is by one only artist they do count as a personal album... On Titanic one only MHWGO was by Celine so logically it wouldn't count (and the song was on her own cd too)... anyway I guess this would be a question to ask someone that is better informed... Less thank 260k opening week for her is wayyyyy below expectations ---they were predicting 300-400k and born this way only a few years ago from her opened with 1.1 million---Celine's numbers are pathetic yes , but so are everybody's in comparison ---nobody is buying Celine should see a spike after Black Friday and if she does some promo in December Surely to god this will go gold--never thought I'd say that LOL Low sales is understandable. But the album is out of top 10 in US Billboard and its not even 2 weeks yet! And Sony is not doing anything about this!!! 1 Quote

Such compilations generally target existing fans of the artist and have little mainstream appeal, though postmortem compilations of unreleased materials from recently deceased artists have significant popularity However, I did a little research, and you were correct. This soundtrack IS credited as a Whitney Houston album...probably because she starred in the movie. Arista (*cough* Clive money hungry Davis) ensured this certification. But it's funny because Whitney only sang half of the songs on the album. The rest was various artists. Which confuses me because she sang all but ONE song on "The Preacher's Wife" soundtrack, and that is NOT credited to solely be a Whitney Houston album. Arista must have shelled out A LOT of money to have this soundtrack credited to her personal archive of albums. Because normally a soundtrack is only credited as a compilation album by Billboard. http://thelavalizard...-houston-album/ http://en.wikipedia....oundtrack_AlbumWhen the soundtrack to The Bodyguard was credited as a Whitney Houston album in Billboard's archives, she became the only artist with three albums to remain on top of the Billboard 200 chart for over ten weeksㅡWhitney Houston (14 weeks), Whitney (11 weeks) and The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album (20 weeks). And Sony is not doing anything about this!!! Exactly, Sony doesn't seem to care about Celine anymore. I don't understand why there's no music video for LMBTL or even her next single.Last year, they made a music video for Parler à mon père and even Le Miracle. This album is her first english album in 6 years and there's no music video!!! Of course, the album must be good to top the charts. But having music videos is helping promoting the song too Edited November 15, 2013 at 08:53 AM by joka123 2 Quote

LukeD Posted November 15, 2013 at 10:27 AM Posted November 15, 2013 at 10:27 AM (edited) they never said records... they said ALBUMS... which means CDs... in 2004 she had sold 175 million albums already... after that she already had don't know how many releases and even the old albums it's not like they stop selling them (there's old albums from her that I still don't have today... many to be honest)...I know they said 'albums', but I already said that they make a mistake. By 2004 Celine had sold over 175m records, not albums. Edited November 15, 2013 at 10:32 AM by LukeD Quote
