Loup_garou Posted September 24, 2013 at 07:53 PM Posted September 24, 2013 at 07:53 PM BTW a little birdy told me that the lyric video hasn't come up yet cos they've gotten into some legal issues with the people who made it. They're trying to get it out ASAP! LOL first the close-ups on the live video now the lyric video, seems her legal team is busy selling the house 2 Quote
Javito Posted September 24, 2013 at 07:54 PM Posted September 24, 2013 at 07:54 PM That would absolutely typical of Celine's team at Sony. I mean honestly how on earth could they get into a legal dispute over a flippin' lyric video? LOL. Hilarious. I was about to post the same. Only the Sony guys and when it comes to Celine could mess up with... the lyric video . Okay......... 1 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

dj4celine Posted September 24, 2013 at 08:47 PM Posted September 24, 2013 at 08:47 PM I was about to post the same. Only the Sony guys and when it comes to Celine could mess up with... the lyric video . Okay.........Actually, this isn't the first time they ran into trouble with lyric video. Remember when they had to pull down the PAMP lyric video and put it back up again. Well, that was cos of legal issues with the Post-Production company/house. I'd not comment as to why they've not been able to sort it out, but considering you've studied law, you know how things could get messed up. On top of that, I commend Sony this time (in a long time) for trying to do something with the single. It's not their fault that radios are picking it up slowly. What can they do? Pay the radios to play the song? They'll run into more legal battles for that. Besides, look what the rolling effect did to the Audience Impressions and wiped out around 4 million AI as most definitely the first day had a deal. Besides, Celine is unfortunately NOT hip. No matter how much WE want it to be, she will NEVER be hip. Respected - Yes, Hip - NO! It would be much better once us fans realize this fact and take it for what it is. If Mariah, who is more 'hot and hip' than Celine and with a current and cool artist like Miguel couldn't score a Top 10 hit with #Beautiful, what makes anyone think that Celine will actually be able to crack it? We should be more realistic and just accept this. All I can say is, we should wait for the album release time as there will definitely be more promotion around that time and from what little I know, the album is gonna be very good - at least a couple of songs. And no, this post wasn't meant to start a flame war between Mariah and Celine but just wanted to put into perspective that someone who is/was actually adored by the American radios isn't that hot property anymore as the bias against 40+ female artists have come into play here. 5 Quote

Yes I guess its probably a problem with the publisher of the song and the licenses, since Sia's demo was never officially released and maybe they had to start with all the registration paperwork from 0. Everything they want to do with a song/album has to be considered in the contracts and the licenses, including doing a video simply with the lyrics of the song on it. But I thought a huge record label like Sony would have these details more than ready when they produce a song under their name. 1 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Lindah1984 Posted September 24, 2013 at 09:55 PM Posted September 24, 2013 at 09:55 PM One thing that kind of bothers me about when Celine talks about this song, is that she seems to be taking the song so literally instead of looking at it metaphorically. I don't picture a person in a hospital bed in a coma. I listen to the lyrics and see someone in a depressive state after the end of a very long, loving with bumps in the road relationship that left them totally heart broken. They have a wall up for a long time until that one person comes along that can break them out of this dark place they have been in so long. IDK, this is just my 2 cents. I think she knows the meaning of the song very well. For me it she said it all with: I know a lot of people who are walking and the're dead. (larry king around 8 minutes). 3 Quote

I have a feeling you are talking about the NEW songs, and not the ones we already heard and the covers on that album... If so, why sony why sony... why didnt you released an EP of "CELINE" last year... Let Sia write more for her... they both want it! 2 Quote

I personally love LMBTL! I enjoy it immensely. I wasn't expecting the song to be a hit, much less a huge hit as some here did. I already knew Celine would have a lot of hurdles in her recording career - radio's practice of ageism, 6 year absence, 'Queen of Vegas' image, dwindling fan base, etc. I think you imparted great advice in your post. Fans should just forget the charts and enjoy the song and the upcoming album. We know Celine is an amazing artist; it's their (radio, general public) loss if they ignore her. So lets just enjoy Celine and her new music. Or else, as another poster said in another thread, we're gonna go crazy and say LMBTL went up a few spots in the high end of the charts or yay, two more stations added the song! Quote

Nicely put eventhough it sucks that radio is ignoring this song! That they ignore Celine is one thing but this song deserves a chance. I heard that s*** that Britney's putting out twice yesterday. Pink's new song is so lame, yet everywhere. Let's face it, the only way for Celine to make it onto radio is through a collaboration with another artist and I don't mean Stevie Wonder!). Celine has fallen by the wayside as so many other older artists. Anyone remember Michael Bolton. He was the male Celine in the early 90's. Vegas continues to be "bad" for her image but she needs it for the $$$. Quote

When I first heard her explain it on Jimmy Kimmel, I rolled my eyes and thought "o great now we know what the video is going to be like". She does interpret it way too literally which makes her sound just as cheesy as we'd hate to admit that she can be sometimes. When Sia wrote this song, and when most of us listen to it, I doubt anybody pictures someone literally in a coma and "loved" back to life 1 Quote

karatedude317 Posted September 25, 2013 at 01:59 AM Posted September 25, 2013 at 01:59 AM This was back in a time where those types of songs were HUGE though. And her contemporaries were still having hits at that time as well (Cher, Tina Turner). You have to remember that there wasn't any illegal downloading going on in the 90's. If there was, it was minimal at best and WAY under the radar. 2002 was the peak of piracy. Napster, WinMX, BearShare, Limewire, Torrents, IMesh...all of these illegal downloading programs. The industry lost SO MUCH MONEY because of this. 2002 was also the year I believe that they started putting AntiPiracy warnings on CD's and putting copy blocks on them. I remember a lot of people couldn't copy the CD onto their computer. This was WAY before iTunes was introduced in 2001. People weren't used to this digital format yet. So they were either buying CD's or for the majority, downloading illegally. So, due to the OVERWHELMING amount of music being STOLEN by "would have been, should have been consumers" ANDHC performed AMAZINGLY well. Regardless of whether or not SONY was expecting something more from it. My very first thought when I heard "WHEN THE WRONG ONE LOVES YOU RIGHT" was how well it fit in with the Destiny's Child type genre. Then low and behold she performed it with them on the CBS special. I wouldn't go as far as to say it sounds like it's from 1993 lol Celine had planned to go to Vegas long before ANDHC was even recorded. The lack of tour for the album itself had nothing to do with her decision to go to Vegas as "A New Day..." had already been in the works before she even recorded it. Therefore there was no plan to tour for ANDHC. The album was honestly released to mark her return to the scene. In every interview, she was talking about how she would be performing in Vegas. She needed the media blitz not only to promote the album, but to announce Vegas as well. A press release alone to announce her residency at Caesar's would not have done anything for the success of the show. It would not have made people as aware of the show. She had to announce it in a million interviews to get it into people's heads. Had she just gone to Vegas without the hype of the album, I doubt the show would have been as big of a success as it was.I thought ANDHC broke records for being number 1 for 26 weeks or something like that. That song was all over the radio stations too. Speaking of radio stations, any luck with WBLI? i just emailed everyone over at WALK 97.5. To this day I have not heard this song on the radio once Quote

Remember how long we had to wait for Parler a mon pere? There are 6 more weeks until the album comes out. I say we will have the music video by October 14th. Let's just be patient. I know we're all excited but we just have to go with the flow and trust Celine is preparing something special for us like she normally does! 3 Quote
