Why Oh Why is my least favorite song on the album. I wish Send Me A Lover was included instead.

SMAL is a leftover from the Celine Dion album. It's great. I have it on my playlist for this album.

My fave tracks from LTAL:

1. MHWGO

2. US

3. TR

4. MTG

5. TLYM

Since this is kind of related to the album, I figured I would post this here. Not many people know this, but apparently to love you more was recorded in 1993.

This will always be my favourite Celine album. It is the album that introduced me to her music when I was 8 years old. I feel in love with her voice instantly. MHWGO was everywhere. My mother had a cassette with some songs from this album and I kept listening to them. I bought the actual album much later, when I was 15, and then I fell in love with the cover (by miles the best one she's ever done, English or French) and was very happy to re-visit songs I hadn't listened in 7 years or so. The majority of songs are on a very good level, very cinematic, larger-than-life and they have a sense of seriousness and maturity I appreciate. Her vocals were better in this album than in FIY as her voice was soft as silk. FIY had its raspy moments that I'm not a fan of. That said, the track-list of LTAL lacks in coherence and some songs are just not great. :D Here is my take on them:

01.The Reason 10/10

02.Immortality 10/10

03.Treat Her Like A Lady 05/10

04.Why Oh Why 07/10

05.Love Is On The Way 08/10

06.Tell Him 06/10

07.Amar Haciendo El Amor 08/10

08.When I Need You 09/10

09.Miles To Go (Before I Sleep) 07/10

10.Us 07/10

11.Just A Little Bit Of Love 06/10

12.My Heart Will Go On 10/10

13.Where Is The Love 10/10

14.Be The Man 08/10

15.I Hate You Then I Love You 04/10

16.Let's Talk About Love 10/10

This is somewhat reflected in my Spotify playlist that is as follows:

01.The Reason

02.Immortality

03.Just A Little Bit Of Love

04.Us

05.Love Is On The Way

06.Tell Him

07.Amar Haciendo El Amor

08.When I Need You

09.Miles To Go (Before I Sleep)

10.My Heart Will Go On

11.Where Is The Love

12.Be The Man

13.To Love You More

14.Let's Talk About Love

I just think it is so much better this way! :D

Be The Man 8 points and Us 7 points are you serious? Be The Man is horrible 4/10 and Us is amazing 10/10 ❤️.

Yeah Us is clearly a 10/10 song and they thought that as well because they put it on the Collectors Edition Volume 1

'Us' has excellent vocals and production. I also love the lyrics. But it is pretty much tuneless. It lacks in melody. Especially the chorus does not really have a hook.

'Be The Man' has cheesy and cliche lyrics. But vocals, production and melody are on point. This is why it was chosen as the lead single in Japan and went Platinum.

It’s pathetic we have not gotten vinyl of other English albums. The vinyls releases from her must sell like s*** or we’d have them by now. All they care about is $$

It still baffles me to this day why she never bothered to sing "Be The Man" live as part of the Japanese legs of her tours. I include this as one of the dumbest moves in her live performance career next to excluding "A New Day Has Come" when "A NEW DAY..." debuted.

There was no place on the tracklist! She had to lip sync for 8272653439 time "To love you more"! :wtf: :innocent:

To Love You More is perhaps her greatest English song. For me, it beats anything fellow divas Whitney and Mariah recorded (and I like many of their songs). It’s such a powerful, perfectly executed song.

Or sing that cover medley or Bee Gees medley that nobody cares about. I don’t have an issue with her doing covers once in a while, but it seems as though a lot of times she prefers random covers over some of her own material.

Where Is The Love is my favorite song from the album! TLYM is probably most listened to, but I almost don't consider it an album track since I heard since 1995.

Why is Why is probably the weakest song and I wonder if Be The Man in Japanese translates better lyrically, because it’s horrible in English. The chorus and versus’ also suck except the build up to the chorus and the bridge. It’s almost like the sophomore slump to TLYM…David got too into his head trying finagle another violin duet Japanese hit song or something.

I'll always consider TLYM a (bonus) track of Live À Paris, cos that's where it was released on in Europe for the first time. Funny how many people dislike Why Oh Why, it's deffo in my top 5 of LTAL songs :giggle:

It came out even earlier in Ireland/UK as a b-side on one of the Because You Loved Me CD singles, so it'll never belong to LTAL to me - always looks bizarre when I see it in the US LTAL tracklist. It's from the FIY era! (It was even added to TCOML in Japan when it first became a hit...)

Tina Turner loved to do covers too.

I think it’s been Celine’s way of surprising her audiences by singing something unexpected / outside of the kinds of songs that made her famous.

The excess of covers in her live repertoire is quite controversial, but I confess I always took it as an expression of her pure joy in making music on stage - her own or others', who cares, when there's fun to be had ;) Even more: I see in it her anti-narcissistic side, and that's so rare in her profession!

I don’t like the cover obsession at all but I’m thinking…

She probably looks at it like whats the difference between “my” songs and covers when “ I don’t write the songs”. Whereas a songwriter like Mariah Carey or Carol King tend not to cover because those self written songs are their babies.

Yes, undoubtedly the link between the songwriter and his or her own song is stronger.

(BTW, aren't we exaggerating by underestimating the art of performers in this day and age? Especially as we're not being very fair about it: a singer "should" write his own songs to be considered a "true artist", but at the same time nobody accuses Kenneth Branagh of not having written "Hamlet" or Martha Argerich of not having composed "Piano Concerto in C major"...)

Yes! It gets old when some people consider someone like Mariah Carey to be more of an “artist” because she wrote songs. Tina Turner didn’t write her own songs… nor did Whitney Houston… the list is long. And these are brilliant artists/performers.

And I’m more so referencing people I see in the comments of YouTube videos and on social media. Fans of “the vocal trinity” (Celine, Whitney, Mariah) tend to claim Mariah is more of an artist because she’s written some songs.

Whereas I think they all bring different things to the table and are brilliant in different ways.
