Just imagine the possibilities

This is wonderful!! Even though we aren’t getting anything new from her team for the anniversary, these fan-made mixes (and the Dolby mixes they were derived from) are breathing new life into the songs!

Here are a few more from the same YouTube channel that illustrate “the possibilities”:

A stripped down version of Seduces Me? WHY NOT?!

Fingers crossed for the official My Heart Will Go On music video. That would really be the best way to honor 25 years of LTAL.
Dont think so think maybe somethingvto do with the rights cause otherwise they would posted it long time ago every other big hit is there so

The fact that they’ve never bothered to negotiate the rights for the “My Heart Will Go On” video says it all. The “Titanic” movie is owned by Disney now, who historically she has a good relationship with. There’s no excuses for it not being on her official YouTube channel. It just isn’t important enough to them to bother.

The official video for “When You Believe” is on Whitney’s channel. The official video for “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” is on Madonna’s channel. The official video for “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing” is on Aerosmith’s channel.

Clearly it can be done. They’re just not that bothered.

I love that! How about a new version of the album with different mixes? That would be amazing!

The fact that the official music videos of MHWGO and BYLM - a.k.a her two biggest hits - are not featured in her Vevo account is self-sabotage. These views count towards RIAA certifications. Views from others channels do not.

MHWGO combined views on YT exceed 1 billion and she can barely take credit for them. It's just sad.

Her online accounts need to be more active and her team needs to request that the certifications of her albums and singles are updated, especially in the US.

It’s a copyright issue due to the scenes from the films.

Why is copyright issue not in Ashes, or When I Fall in Love or I'm Alive?

I don't think When I Fall In Love video is uploaded to her channel? Unless I missed it. And iirc "I'm Alive" doesn't actually use scenes from the movie, which I was surprised to learn.

But still, these are no excuses. They need to upload all her music videos at this point.

That is not that strange! It’s not like there is one standard contract that is applied to every single movie deal. The owner of the rights is free to decide the rights he wants to cede.

There is some things to consider… Ashes is a song create in the streaming era, so the rights regarding the stream is already part of the deal. I’m Alive is a song create for Celine’s album, so probably her team was the one controlling the deal. As for When I Fall in Love, for me it doesn’t show up in Celine’s oficial channel, only audio. It might be one of those region’s problem, though.

My Heart Will Go On video’s rights are owned by those who own the rights for the movie, which is both Paramount and 20th Century Fox (now own by Disney). Just 20th Century Fox had change owners three times since the movie release. That alone makes things a little harder. That kinda of instability didn’t happen with Warner Bros, that owns The Bodyguard, or with Dreamwork, that owns Prince of Egypt.

Team Celine is lazy but that particular problem might not be their fault. Emphasis on “might”.

It would be nice if they got her earliest 80s French albums on streaming, too.

I'm sorry but I simply can't buy it.

What a coincidence it would be that only Celine's team is having hard time with movie rights with all her most successfull soundtracks/songs!

When you search for the video on youtube , one is listed as "official music video" ( the most viewed one) , and it doesn't even include Céline's footage...only the movie!

So one random profile can use it but not the singer of its soundtrack ? That's weird.

Anyway, as I previously suggested, they simply can remove movie parts... but then again it would require the minimum work from her team.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised of 2 things:

- Something is coming up... ( can't believe I'm writing it) but TC keeps on putting out there stuff from LTAL25 and all its singles... MYWGO only had a story on its release day. I would naturally think that they are keeping it as the big finale? As they are not following the chronological order of single releases... could be.

- Exactly the opposite : nothing about MYWGO :giggle:

( while writing this, I've just realized that they might keep it as the last one but with link to the live video already on her channel , just as a finger to her fans)

Makes sense, I was switching around my VPN by country and it still did not pop up.

Official music videos for IDAN and GTSW are not available in Germany either, even though they were officially released as singles here. That’s really strange. I would also want them to upload all the bonus tracks, remixes and b-sides from her singles onto YouTube. These tracks are so rare and hard to get. Why not uploading all the singles with the bonuses the way they were once released?

Listening the "raw version" of "Us", now I'm wonder how will sound "The Colour Of My Love" entire album in this format. Specially the ballads (I pray for "Think Twice" or "Only One Road")

Anyone who uses copy written material without permission is at risk for anything from having their YouTube accounts canceled to a lot of legal issues. It’s a risk that people are willing to take.

With regard to music videos for soundtracks, there are distribution and usage clauses in contracts. Some even have expiration dates. Note that on the ATW DVD, they had to use a live version of BYLM and not the video. SONY owns rights to the song because it appeared on Celine’s album, but not the movie because their studio didn’t film it. 20th Century Fox was still high on Titanic success at the time of the ATW releases, so of course she’d still have permission to use the official video on that DVD. The song literally won both an Oscar AND a Grammy that very same year. That was just smart marketing and business. But like I said, distribution and usage deals sometimes also come with expiration dates.

The majority of Mariah's songs have received a Gold or Platinum or multi-platinum certification in the US. My estimation is that she must have sold around 70m singles there only, counting digital downloads and streaming. On the other hand, Celine is criminally under-certified. MHWGO going from Gold to 4 x P is an example of what I'm saying. She's got too many songs eligible for Gold certification that are currently not certified such as WDMHBN, IYAMT, ANDHC, IA, TC, The Prayer and quite possibly IDAN and Ashes.

I do not mean to start a sales comparison between the 2 artists. My calculations are that they have both sold at least 250m records worldwide. My point is that LTAL is a prime example of everything that's wrong with Team Celine. 25 years since the peak of her career and all we're getting are some songs and performances on YT that could/should have been uploaded there already. It's a bit boring to me. Just my two cents.

The thing with the movie scenes and copyrights in her music videos is quite funny, because if they released the original music videos on Celines official channel, her songs would automatically draw attention to the movies and remind people of them. This would be beneficial for the movie companies cause people might get interested in the movie and buy or stream it. They are harming themselves by not giving Celine permission to release these music videos. It would be extra promotion for these movies. Edited by ryba

Celine is rather "unlucky" with her no1 US singles : 2 are not available on YT and 1 is censored everywhere. :giggle: Edited by isurrender

Records is a combination of both albums and singles. Celine was never really a singles artist. She has sold over 200 million albums alone, not counting singles I believe would be the estimate at this point. And that in itself is untouchable.

Yes, the whole system of copyright is deeply flawed, especially as it relates to Youtube

My estimation is that she has sold over 190m albums, between 60 to 70m singles and over 5m DVDs that are also considered records for a total of 255 - 265 at this point. Mariah has sold 150m albums, 100-110m singles I reckon and 2m DVDs, so her total must be 252-262m. So the point remains that she has massively benefited from digital downloads and streaming.

I agree with what you're saying and I do think that album sales are the most important, but we need to acknowledge that everyone speaks in terms of total records when career sales are considered. And the idea that Mariah might have outsold her bothers me so much! But ok, I guess I'll have to deal with it at some point...!

At least Mariah is promoted every year as the queen of Christmas and her 25 year old Christmas song is being hyped each year recently. That’s her new thing that keeps her on the map. But they don’t really know what to do with Celine, so they put up 3 big billboards that remind people that LTAL now turned 25…

Celine also has brilliant Christmas songs, but Sony puts Mariah first in that regard, because it works very well. They have to find something for Celine as well apart from fashion, something that is music related.

Songs can go viral these days out of nowhere. It happened with IACBTMN on TikTok and I heard MHWGO is getting popular on Tiktok right now. The Christmas situation is odd because Happy Xmas is her new most popular song for Christmas in terms of streams. I always thought Oh Holy Night was more beloved.

I don't exactly know how Mariah's song became so popular, it's really only in the last 5 - 10 years where it happened. Maybe they did some heavy marketing or a strategic promo. Idk.
