I've also just noticed the video! And yeah it's from the UK single.

 

They released THLAL as a single in 1999? I thought it happened earlier than that. Wasn't ATW promoted in 1999 and before that TAST?

 

No it was released in March 1999. It was quite extraordinary they released a single so long after the album's release. But she was going to tour in Europe then, so I guess Sony wanted to give the album one last boost! I remember buying the single and being so excited, cos it had the Unison and TLYM remixes on it! :wub2:

It's never been one of my favorites. But I like it.

They always tried to include a surprising song on her albums. It was part of the formula... like Make You Happy on FIY.

I'm reminded of how much my siblings mocked her for ever recording this song, and how cringe her dancing is :giggle:

 

It's the epitome of a guilty pleasure. It's so wrong on so many levels, and yet Céline delivers it with such sincerity and complete lack of irony that it's oddly endearing - she somehow makes it enjoyable through sheer force of personality and will. Plus it's insidiously catchy. :D

 

I always thought it could have been an actual hit if released as a summer single the year before when Céline-mania was still in full effect. As it was, it was kind of a throwaway single that just faded out the era without anyone really noticing much.

Except for Iceland and Austria where it went to 13 and 16! :o :giggle:

 

 

One of my absolute favourite Céline remixes is the Metro Club Mix of THLAL :dance: IMO they should have released a radio edit as the single.

Maybe they can post the session/music video of I Hate You, Then I Love You in a few days... Now, it's weird 'cause I don't know there, but here in South America, TC posted a short announcing the HD Remaster of Immortality music video and is not there, I don't know if in Tidal or some other platforms it's available...

Probably the worst outfit of her career!

 

I think the camel colored one she wore in Live In Memphis was MUCH worse.

THLAL is so cringe, then and now LOL. It was only somewhat acceptable at the The Essence or Soul Train Award. She actually looked somewhat cool and didn't do that terrible choreography she did on the tour.

So nice, much better than the tiny .mov video on the single. But I have to agree those clothes were dreadful, now they mark an era... but still.....I much prefer the performance at the Essence awards Awards or the one at Jamaica with the new arrangements

 

And critics had a field day with the song, I couldn't care less, I love it, not only for Celine to perform with another Queer Artist, but for the kind words that Diana King has always towards her...ohh and the remixes were great

So congrats Team Celine. The 2 biggest albums of her career turns 25 (FIY last year) and all we got is the same albums + videos we already had more than 20 years ago.. NOTHING new!

That's sooooo nice, Just saw in the Tell Him Video that the poster was able to Isolate parts of the Song from the Dolby Atmos version. I was reading that in some cases the voice is clean in a single track while in others it's mixed, maybe that's what happened with the other "raw version" he posted.

 

"If you actually have ADM BWF files, you can import them directly into Logic or the Dolby Atmos player application, and this gives you the full mix. Best option.

If you have an ec3+ file, you can extract 7.1 mixdown channels using FFMPEG or Apple’s Compressor app. If the vocals are mixed to the center channel, this will get you a fairly clean sound, though there will likely be other things mixed in, since it’s just the center channel, not a “vocal” channel.

If you’re able to play Atmos files on your computer, you can try a virtual interface (GroundControl, Soundflower, Loopback), then record those virtual channels into a DAW."

The fact that the official music videos of MHWGO and BYLM - a.k.a her two biggest hits - are not featured in her Vevo account is self-sabotage. These views count towards RIAA certifications. Views from others channels do not.

 

MHWGO combined views on YT exceed 1 billion and she can barely take credit for them. It's just sad.

 

Her online accounts need to be more active and her team needs to request that the certifications of her albums and singles are updated, especially in the US.
