And here's the comparison between Soundtrack and LTAL versions of MHWGO...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaWoBYXkC8g

In the left speaker you'll hear the Soundtrack version, and in the right speaker you'll hear the LTAL one...

I took the 5.1 SACD tracks from the Soundtrack and the All The Way A Decade Of Song releases, and isolated the channels with the vocals...

I deleted some instrumental parts so the singing would match, and at the climax I had to speed up a little bit the Soundtrack version to match with the LTAL (like I said before the producers speeded up...).

Without count the long note "and OOOOON" at the end of the climax (which the producers edited), and the final humming, the vocals are exactly the same...

thats so nice!

To ilustrate what the most of us believe that happened to Sorry For Love:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFx2U3Rqxk8

I used Audacity, and take the 2003 version. Copied a bit of the note, and pasted it several times to make it longer (of course the result is garbage, we don't have the vocals separated from that part) and then pasted the melisma from another part of the song... And voilà... We have the ANDHC version...

And here's the comparison between Soundtrack and LTAL versions of MHWGO...

That's great, that's the kind of evidence I wanted to see. You've convinced me on both accounts (SFL/MHWGO) the audio was fiddled with. I acquiesce.

How interesting to hear each version in each ear! Thank you for putting that together.

And the slow-downed, isolated version put the final nail in the coffin. You can clearly hear distortions in the humming where it's cut together. I was wrong!!! :bonk:

Thank you all for taking the effort to put together the evidence in such a convincing manner!

A new question arises: do we think they also cut out her singing the forgotten bridge line, "there is some love that just won't go away," or do you think it was never put into song? I notice they corrected the lyrics in the later printings of the soundtrack.

I think the album version is better

they polished more her voice... The Soundtrack version is more raw...

I preffer the Soundtrack though lol

I also heavily appreciate the long “On” note that’s distinct to the album and for me the continuous, long hum at the very end of the album version is one of the most iconic ie signature vocal moments of her career

You're welcome... I like to play with Audacity sometimes, it's great to find some new things in her songs... Like the fade-outs...

Now from the "there is some love that just won't go away" part... I can't imagine what happened... It could be a printing mistake from the LTAL booklet? 'Cause I don't think the Soundtrack printing has this part...

Or it could really be from the original lyrics, but she didn't recorded it. Just like Where Does My Heart Beat Now, the booklet has extra lyrics that she doesn't sing. I think some writters demand for the complete lyric to be printed on booklets, even if the recording doesn't have it...

But I don't see a way to place those extra lyrics in the melody... Guess we'll never know :giggle:

I agree with the humming... The LTAL is perfect...

She has never sang the "OOOOn" part like the Soundtrack... I'd love to hear she trying that someday...

Even the little run/melisma she did in the "AND ooon", she never replicated it live...

My understanding is that the only time she did it was with James Corden

Yep, generally when printing lyrics, they're supposed to go with the "official" lyrics as registered, so occasionally there are variations vs. the recorded version. For WDMHBN, the original demo (by Lisa Bevill, not Céline) includes the additional lyrics (starting around 2:55):

Did she actually attempt that note? Or are we only hearing the recorded version, while she sings softly in the background? I’d love to see someone isolate those vocals for a deeper analysis! :lmao:

She didn't go up in the end... we can hear her sustaining the note like she always does...

But at least she sang it full live and in the original key!!! She hit those Eb5 for real

If only James Corden would let her sing alone

She can actually do it but when on tours they prefer to sang it in lower key. Understandable. Or else...... goodbye voice forever

And Celine RO, what better question do you have to ask her?

I would ask her about her unreleased songs, music videos and DVDs, her plans for the future, how she comes up with setlists, why she doesn’t sing more songs from the new album, why she doesn’t work with David Foster anymore, why she doesn’t work with Julie Snyder anymore, why she doesn’t bring back certain songs that she cut at the beginning of the tour, why they fired Mego and some of the band, why Aldo quit, which songs she actually enjoys singing and which ones she doesn’t, and many more things.

Back when the original theme of "Celine" was to be movies, they reviewed the song. A photo of Celine watching the music video can be found in the first pressing of the program. I'm sure she remembers the song. She just doesn't know, or nobody on her team has told her, just how popular the song is with the fans.

Or maybe she just doesn’t like the song?

True...but I wish they would do something online one time where all the songs are in original key. It doesn't even have to be recorded all in the same day!

At least for David's part, I remember in some interview he said he wouldn't know what direction to take Celine in these days, he doesn't know what their modern collaborations would even sound like. To be honest, David is a huge talent and a giant in the industry...but his style is not really for the charts. Not that that matters to him or Celine necessarily, because they sell-out. I mean Michael Buble/Jackie Evancho/Josh Groban/etc.. they all tend towards a certain musical taste.

I think the last pop artist he heavily invested in was Charice with her 2010 album, which he was Executive Producer for. It did quite well (maybe you remember her single Pyramid), but one album is just one album. Not sure what happened in their story, but Charice is now Jake so she had her own journey.

Uh, ok I missed that in the news. Good for him!

I read somewhere that they "didn't release Tell Him due to lack of radio support".... in other words, it was not released commercially in the US and could not chart on the Billboard 100...what the F, Sony? This was despite the song being the first of the album to premier on radio.

So which singles were actually charted on Billboard besides MHWGO?

Oh I can't edit my comment, but I guess I'm Your Angel was the other big success story.

I’m Your Angel wasn’t from Let’s Talk About Love though. It was from These Are Special Times.

Ooh then my point stands! What the heck Sony! :mdr: :angry2:

Is there any album where you would only release one song to the Billboard Charts!

TLYM was successful on the Radio/Airplay and Adult Charts, but it was only a Promo single.

Us and TR should also have been singles.

Why oh Why Sony.

It's shocking! How do you only release one single properly for the most anticipated album of her career?

When that song is the obsession of the world for almost an entire year, I suppose that helps. And by the following year, she had a new album out, These Are Special Times, which had its own single. Plus there was a French album between the two on which they focused. Ah, those were the days...

But people can be obsessed with more than one song by an artist at once? It's not unheard of to have multiple songs on the charts at once, even after an album has been out a bit, right?

I think that’s more a “today” mindset. Back in the 90s, artists had one single at a time. And MHWGO went and above and beyond. It was THE song that was played everywhere. It’s why she’s known for it. It’s why SNL began making fun of her. It’s why she has a lasting career. You can’t downplay what that song and that movie were like during 1997-1998. Nothing had been that big in a long time. It was a different world.

It's because the one from the LTAL or the radio version was edited. The original one is the demo. Where there is a long ending and slight key change.

I think they started editing the part at the end "... my heart will go and OOOOOOOOOOOON" that's where they edited it for the radio version. So, she didn't recorded it again. She did only one take for this song.

Told ya! Lol
