PuraVida Posted March 23, 2021 at 12:45 AM Posted March 23, 2021 at 12:45 AM Why is it that crazy? TCOML was huge in Europe. The mid 90s (before FIY) is when Céline really got big here. I am well aware she was already popular and had success, but the fact that TCOML outperformed (by this metric) her two most famous albums is surprising and unexpected! Quote
PuraVida Posted March 23, 2021 at 12:51 AM Posted March 23, 2021 at 12:51 AM ‘Les secrets des Enfoirés’ (2008) was in France. JJG in that thumbnail though I always thought it was in Italy! Oops, thanks for correcting Quote
rfkavanagh Posted March 23, 2021 at 02:56 AM Posted March 23, 2021 at 02:56 AM Do you know which D. Warren song was refused for LTAL? Was it IDWTMAT? No idea, sorry. But Diane Warren is a song machine so it could have been anything! "Chains" was actually a top 40 hit here in the US (top 20 on AC). Yeah, it had some success and the album sold more than 100k here (that was what I meant when referring to it getting some traction internationally) - with that foundation and given how well Don't Ask did elsewhere, that's why Tina Arena was identified as a priority artist for Sony to try to build her into a major star with her next album. They invested a lot into In Deep and sadly it never really paid out for them. Great album, though! For me the last part of “Us” is the best. The song is beautiful without it but that just takes it to another level and gives it that amazing rock energy. Wow, completely the opposite for me! The major key transition completely deflates the song, bursts the tension bubble, and removes all the intensity and emotion that the first five minutes built. Plus it becomes more gentle in tone - while I wouldn't describe any part of the song as having rock energy, I'd definitely say the last 45 seconds are even further removed from having any of it! 1 Quote
woodstock Posted March 23, 2021 at 09:39 AM Posted March 23, 2021 at 09:39 AM I always thought it was in Italy! Oops, thanks for correcting This is a huge caritative show that takes place every year in a different french city and it has been vor a very long time directed by no other than Jean-Jacques Goldman. He invited her back in 1994 for the first time and that was after singing with her he had the idea of making a whole album for her, Quote

jpatdeleon09 Posted March 23, 2021 at 07:03 PM Posted March 23, 2021 at 07:03 PM Such a shame though. It would’ve been amazing if Céline had recorded (and released) IDWMAT! Exactly! 1 Quote

marc-02 Posted March 28, 2021 at 02:43 AM Posted March 28, 2021 at 02:43 AM It's interesting that she called LTAL "Album of her life", because I think FIY is still her best english work and deserved Album of the year 1996. She calls all her albums "album of her life." Depends on what album she's promoting at the time of the interview. 😆😆😆 1 Quote
marc-02 Posted March 28, 2021 at 02:55 AM Posted March 28, 2021 at 02:55 AM (edited) The Australian singer Tina Arena have a song called If I Was A River on her album In Deep from 1997. Maybe it was written for Celine and that's the song Run Like A River? If I Was A River is my most favorite Tina Arena song, the song's production is just out of this world and I always thought the song and that production perfectly fit Celine. Plus, the music video was majestic haha... Anyway, too bad that song didn't become a huge hit for her. Edited March 28, 2021 at 02:55 AM by marc-02 Quote

Not really. She only really emphasized that with D’eux in French and LTAL in English and I get why. Quote The best is yet to come...

Throughout the press circuit for Courage, she's also said Courage was her fave album 😆😆😆 knowing Celine, she really throws these "best" or "favorite" adjectives around very frequently.. haha 2 Quote
jpatdeleon09 Posted March 29, 2021 at 02:13 AM Posted March 29, 2021 at 02:13 AM For me, Taking Chances is my favorite modern album. This is my most played album of hers. With this album we can really see and hear how versatile Céline is. Her voice really changes depends on the genre. 3 Quote

rfkavanagh Posted April 1, 2021 at 03:44 AM Posted April 1, 2021 at 03:44 AM This story still gets me every time https://jimsteinman.com/sacred.htm Happy to see there’s now a formal movement against this practice, developed by some very prominent contemporary songwriters: https://www.stereogum.com/2122638/prominent-songwriters-sign-letter-calling-for-artists-to-stop-demanding-credit-for-songs-they-didnt-write/news/ The abuse of “change a word, take a third” has become insane - don’t know how much impact the above will have, but it’s about time there was a level of organized resistance! Celinelife Posted April 15, 2021 at 02:01 PM Posted April 15, 2021 at 02:01 PM I think that as next year it is the 25th anniversary, Celine will perform MHWGO or Immortality somewhere big like BBMAs or grammy. She will release Behind the Scenes, Music videos for it too like sue did for FIY and delete a highly viewed video Quote
PuraVida Posted April 17, 2021 at 05:42 AM Posted April 17, 2021 at 05:42 AM I just realized the analogy of this album in modern days. The reason why Celine called it "the album of my life and I can just retire now" LTAL is like if Adele released an album with: The #1 song all over the entire world, plus a duet with Celine, plus a duet with Andrea Bocelli, plus a duet with Boys II Men or Nysync, plus a song produced by Babyface and written by Mariah Carey. That's the analogy. 1 Quote

MTJ Posted July 28, 2021 at 02:47 AM Posted July 28, 2021 at 02:47 AM I've pretty much always skipped the song. And I don't like its placement on the Let's Talk About Love album.I wish the song was placed later in the tracklist. But I'll listen again soon with an open mind. You are a crazy person. The transition into Treat Her Like A Lady from Why Oh Why is genius and perfectly timed. It is my favorite moment in the album. "Phew! ... ... ... dum dum dum" 1 Quote
Ukrfan Posted August 17, 2021 at 05:24 PM Posted August 17, 2021 at 05:24 PM What is crazy is that TCOML is Celine's longest charting album in the UK of all time. It beats FIY by like 20 weeks!!! It was in there for ~140 weeks or something! Well I guess it was because she was already a big start when FIY and LTAL came out. Those albums were very anticipated, so many people bought it at once when they were released. With TCOML, it was a more gradual process. Quote
Ukrfan Posted August 17, 2021 at 05:40 PM Posted August 17, 2021 at 05:40 PM THLAL was originally a Diana King done in 1995. This makes it feel weird then how Celine took all the attention when they performed it live at the 1998 Essence Awards. It's like if she performed "If You Asked Me To" with Patti and then took all the lead vocals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IS21zdBD2T4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dJkJlAM354 OMG whaaaat... I didn't know THLAL was a cover. Slightly dissapointed. Quote
