So much of Celine’s catalog are covers. That’s why I’m always surprised when people get so upset about cover songs in her concerts.

Because singing her cover or “All By Myself”, which was on her most successful English albums verses singing… “Another One bites the dust” is very different.

So, as long as she had recorded “Another One Bites The Dust” on an album, it would be okay for her to do it live?

In the LTAL tour, she sang TFTEISYF, Tears in Heaven, and All The Way. I don’t recall being angered by that as a fan at the time. And then she went on to record two of them.

No one seemed to mind her opening her 2nd Vegas residency with Open Arms, which she also later recorded.

Exactly; me personally, I have a problem with her covers that are random taking away space for other songs. If they are successful they can stay if not they need to go. Songs like IACBTMN, ABM, IYAMT, TPOL are successful covers and were covered by Celine to become successful… that’s very different that her covering sonny’s after their success like Open arms.

She calls all her albums "album of her life." Depends on what album she's promoting at the time of the interview.

I didn't notice that. I did notice that with each English album she says "this is the most fun I've had recording an English album"

There's covering a song and totally reimaginging it and making it your own. Then there is doing a more karaoke version of it. Some classics really don't need to be touched unless you can truly reimagine and give it a whole different energy.

If you are doing one closer to the original, it is better if you do it once or twice rather than put it in your touring concert.

Maybe unpopular but I’m not even a huge fan of her cover or “alone”, however when she took that song and included it in the TC world tour at least it was a show stopping big number to bring something amazing to the show, she can’t do that with “Another One Bites The Dust”, or “At 17”, for example. When it comes to live shows if they included only 1-2 show stopping covers it would be a different story!

I like her version of "Alone", but for me it is a song that I only feel like listening to once in a while. And well, I don't think any world tour will ever top TCWT. With "At 17" she had a personal emotional connection.

So I think we could go through almost all of her covers and have pros/cons. I think the answer is that covers are not bad in theory, but you really need to do it right and pick the right song.

"Another One Bites The Dust" can go imo. She has already done so much Queen in her shows. Like you said, she has so much of her own material that she could totally slay!

If she would sing mostly songs from her own repertoire in general and a cover here and there... I would love that. I like her covers but her show should still more focused on her own songs

I do not enjoy the album version of “Alone” either. Disappointing because it is one of my favorite songs of all time. But the live version, was absolutely incredible.

OMG so it started with her title song of her first English album...

My biggest shock was probably with Falling Into You.

Actually it started with her very first album back in 1981. The song Tire L'aiguille is a cover of Renée Leas and Les Roses Blanches was originally done by Berthe Sylva.

The original was in English and “Partout je te vois” was a translated version of it. But Céline only released her version of “Have a Heart” after she had already released “Partout je te vois”. That’s why it’s confusing.

In my opinion, TSMGO was a show stopping cover in her Vegas shows. I think “You’re the Voice” also comes close. It’s also very special when she sings “Over the Rainbow” or CHFIL.

Yes, it was recorded by Angela Clemmons for her album 'This Is Love' in 1987.

I absolutely adore Scotts and Celines version of TSMGO. I so wish to have an official release in high quality... It is a real masterpiece.

The TC tour version of TSMGO was not spectacular at all though.

I prefer the TC tour version of TSMGO. I like her Billboard performance, but I don't really love orchestral music that much. I enjoy more rockish sound.

She really missed an opportunity to update her old hits and new songs to rock versions during TC. Mego just destroyed most songs and sucked all the soul from them :wtf:

For example, I LOOOOOOOOVE that rockish-sounding MHWGO in her Live Event in 2019. Especially those drums starting @3:15, they make the song so much better :w00t:

Yup. That was a cover I was shocked to learn was a cover.

Oooh I sooo love this song.

I truly am interested if she still know these songs, and what makes her decide to never sing them again.

Just like we chat together about the songs we love and die to hear live.

I would love to have a 2 hour session with her and talk about all her songs

“Love Is On The Way” live...

I think she does. There was the one time in Vegas 2007 when she was singing "Can't We Try" from 20 years earlier. And an interview where she randomly burst into one of her earliest French songs....but darn I can't remember which interview :(

I don’t think Celine could tell you which song from her career belongs on which album. If we asked her randomly do you remember the song “Reveal”, which album was it on? She’d probably say “Taking Chances”.

Whereas someone like Mariah Carey would be able to tell you the order of the track list, the album and how long each song was.
