PuraVida Posted July 29, 2013 at 08:14 PM Posted July 29, 2013 at 08:14 PM Celine's vocal performance during this show was fascinating. I felt it marked a return to the "singing robot" in some ways and that she struggled to maintain control at times, but her endurance was phenomenal. She revealed that she has been developing (or rather redeveloping) the disciplined vocal technique she needs to stay on top in the industry. I think she was feeling great, singing confidently, and I also think that many of her performances the other night can be considered career highlights; she could never have sung this show during the first Vegas run, which means she is doing something right; the magic has returned. I think her technique has returned, but the voice is just starting to falter. Quote
Daysleeper Posted July 29, 2013 at 08:38 PM Posted July 29, 2013 at 08:38 PM "Je sais pas" sounds HEAVENLY!! The instrumental ending with a guitar is outstanding. One of my top favorites Céline's songs. Quote

Javito Posted July 29, 2013 at 08:50 PM Posted July 29, 2013 at 08:50 PM I think her technique has returned, but the voice is just starting to falter. I don't know if its accurate to say that her voice is not as good as it used to be, but for sure she doesn't sing as great as 10 years ago. Come on, her voice is still amazing live, but when she always surpassed herself the studio versions of her songs when she performed live during the 90's, today its the opposite, she clearly sings better the studio recording than the live version. At least on the songs she has performed over 1,000 times, because in the new ones (like Loved Me Back To Life) you can still notice she puts all her passion and quality in the performance. But that just does not happen in Dans un autre monde, Je sais pas, Destin, PQTME etc etc, its pretty clear! Je crois toi was also much better vocally in the Au coeur du stade concert than here, but its logical... its been 14 years! 4 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Popular Post Davey84 Posted July 29, 2013 at 09:04 PM Popular Post Posted July 29, 2013 at 09:04 PM Not to go off too much off topic on this 'her voice is faltering topic'... but back in the 90's Céline went for days without speaking when she was recording, when she had concerts, that, together with extensive vocal exercises, was what made her voice sound so pure and amazing every single time!but now she has three kids, can you really expect her to not talk to them for days!?! Times have changed, but IMO if her voice is still as powerful as ever! It ages with her, and I am a 100% sure that she still we be able to sing amazingly in 30 years time. And that is not something a lot of singers of today (and past) will be able to do. 10 Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Alex_Incognito Posted July 30, 2013 at 05:49 AM Posted July 30, 2013 at 05:49 AM To say her voice is faltering is bloody absurd. She's at a vocal peak right now. 2 Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
divaslive98 Posted July 30, 2013 at 06:22 AM Posted July 30, 2013 at 06:22 AM (edited) To say her voice is faltering is bloody absurd. She's at a vocal peak right now. Yes she may be at a vocal peak, but she is also losing the ability to sing the standard live set that she sang during her last vocal peak, her true vocal peak, which is what she is trying (and largely succeeding) to do right now. Celine's true late-career vocal peak will arrive when she stops singing all of these incredibly demanding songs all in the same shows, when she abandons her standard repertoire so to speak, or rather retires it, which is probably something she would very much like to do anyway. Her voice is gaining in elasticity and versatility while also losing its tensile strength, and so she is becoming more fluid and more muscular as a vocalist but in a less consistent or reliable way than before, meaning that she loses and thus reestablishes control more often than before. This new voice is in contrast to the voice she developed during Vegas and TCWT, during which she maintained a remarkable endurance at the expense of fluidity and depth of tone. She must now strike a balance. Edited July 30, 2013 at 06:25 AM by divaslive98 7 Quote

She has more difficulties maintening notes in the same level, she experiences also more often flat notes , creating maybe for her confidence issues. But i can also hear more feelings ,especially with her latest song. Her tone is more pleasing and relax, creating in me the same emtions. In the end, i love it . In my opinion, you can't have it both ways, technically perfect and full of true émotions. She has to fill herself to give something reel, living more of a normal life. So , i'm ready to accept little technicals imperfections. 4 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....
