As much as members of the forum complain about him , we need to give Rene a lot of credit here. He has guided Celine in a healthy way. From a young age he taught her not to be a diva and make the right personal and professional choices. Celine knows how to cope with stresses without alcohol and drugs. I'm just so sorry Whitney didn't have a "Rene" in her life. :(

You are so right.

Here is the statement made by Celine Dion on the death of Whitney Houston.

MONTRÉAL, Feb. 12. 2012 / CNW Telbec / - "I am deeply upset by this sad news. Whitney was a remarkable artist, unique. When I started singing in English, she was a model for me. I greatly admired the singer, I really liked the very attractive and very warm woman, who I had the good fortune to meet a few times. Today all my thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and her family. "

and not only that.. I have been on Beyonce's site, where I could not find anything about Whitney yet, and I have been on Mariah's site and Madonna ( also nothing about Whitney) But there is one thing all these sites have in common : they look professional, they really look like the site of a mega-artist. And then I come on Celine's page... and you see this.... It's so amateuristic that site, it looks so generic and not for an artist like Celine! But okay, that is another discussion I know, but I have to say that all the others and esspecially Madonna and Mariah, do have a very professional site!

Whitney's passing is shocking to many cuzz it's not only her passing - it's the childhood, the memories of the 90's, the voice. She was one of the three divas from the 90's. Céline's peer. A part of that is gone. A part of Céline's gone, as well. Everybody feels that. Edited by Céline's Blues

Oh what did she say???

It was a phone interview, Celine stated drugs and being around  bad people took over Whitney's dreams.  Celine continued with questioning how this all happened and commented that is why Celine  does not participate in "Show Business" the parties, etc.  and that she is afraid of that aspect of show business.  That is why she does her job and leaves immediately to go home.  Celine sounded upset by it all.  I could hear a bit of anger in her voice.  In my opinion I got the impression Celine could not understand how Whitney's family and friends allowed this to happen.

I hope I captured and quoted everything correctly.  Hoping it will be on the GMA website. I did record it however don't have the capabilities to share it.  If the interview doesn't get on the Internet, I'll do a transcript verbatim late this afternoon.

Sorry I have to sign off, I have an appointment to go to.

She was completely correct on questioning the role Whitney's family played in her demise. In the last 12 years she was a train wreck crying for help. Her family hasn't been any more of help than her husband who now is enjoying the time of his life.

Actually her family staged several interventions but all to NO avail. Whitney is an adult and the final decision on how she lives her life and who surrounds her is hers. Drugs take hold of a person, no matter how rich or poor - how famous or unknown - it's a difficult thing to beat. We've seen this over and over with celebrities dating back to the early 1900's. The talent usually comes through but not in all cases. This reminds me terribly of the life of Judy Garland. We can't judge or blame as it's not us in that situation.

Thank you very much Bubba!! drugs and being around bad people took over Whitney's dreams Céline put it very nicely!

Like Seba said, Céline was right questioning the people around her... It happens way too often, not only with celebrities, but also with 'normal' drug addicts...

Céline might be boring in some aspects, but at least I see her grow an old age surrounded by her loved ones!

R.I.P My dear Whitney...

It's about family values that her own family holds dear so much. This was Céline's and my point. Addicts are like children, NOT ADULTS. This has to be taken into account. If someone's life is in danger you stage a coup and try your best despite the fits, despite the rage.

I know each situation is different, I know that too well. Whitney has been stubborn but let's not fool ourselves that her family more or less accepted her heavy drinking and possibly drugs which she put on FULL display 2 days before her death.

Objection, speculation!

Two days of heavy drinking plus Xanax the third? It hurts to admit, I know. Whitney is the voice. She was better than Céline in her prime. The ultimate diva. All the more reason to be outraged at how much abandoned she must have been in the recent times.

I don't think we can presume to know the efforts her family attempted to help. All we know is the end result.

And did anyone record the online stream of the GMA phone interview?

This will be the unpopular post of the day BUT if that is what Celine said then I don't think it's appropriate at this time. It's way too early for someone not in the "know" to be pointing fingers at her family. We all have our opinions but as I said, we were not there, we do not know what was going on. Legally Whitney is an adult, so LEGALLY the family could not have "taken" her away as much as they may have wanted to. Look, she left Bobby, she FLED outta there in fear and went to LA back around 2006. She left him, she was on the path to recovery but it's not without it's bumps and apparantly this was a huge bump.

The family needs love, prayer and compassion right now. I just listened to the GMA interview and I think her comments come from anger and sadness BUT still c'mon. Celine has been extremely lucky and has never gone down that path, always focused but sadly that's not the norm but the exception and I'm proud of her for that. All of her fans are sad and angry too, there was no need for this to happen but sadly it did.

I agree but Céline isn't known for her diplomatic skills... TAKE A KAYAK!

Kayak.com for cheap flights to Vegas?

I guess CNNs Healdline News was wrong, none of the people they mentioned were at the Grammys. :( Guess they're credibility was shot once they started quoting from TMZ.

I think Celine will be trending on twitter soon, as twitter is going crazy about this... many tweets are nasty, but others saying that it needed to be said, and that they agree with certain points she raised.

Celine is hurting to its obvious, from how she spoke, she was a fan, and looked up to her, in my opinion she was speaking as a fan... she mean't no harm!

Yes you could hear it in her voice that she was upset & confused over why this happened - she wants her back like all of her fans. Such a sad, sad situation. I wonder how these kind of phone interviews get set up..like does GMA contact Celine's management, does Rene call to set it up...just curious.

'Celine Dion "scared of show business" after Whitney Houston's death.

It seems when reading this article that Celine is asking the 'why' question. It's a telephone call but she seems to be going through a lot of reflection in this. After her comment yesterday I hoped there would've been something more because I just assumed she was going to talk more. So I was kind of waiting for this.
