I hate the media. Everything about it. These people are the reason why things get so turned around and why controversy ensues. :nono: :nono:

and again they took a ugly pic... and there are so many beautiful pics of her! Why a rehearsal pic!?

guys, i've been surfing the net for articles/discussions about the interview with celine and i'm just so happy because most of the comments that i read now are actually in support of what celine dared spill.

here's another article inciting people to hate on celine but totally failed as majority of the comments echoed the same sentiment as celine.

yes you are true but if Celine had waited with her opinion it would have been better. Hope it does not damage Celine.

The same thing happened here, on Queerty (a gay news site). Most of the comments there were in defense of Céline, but here's what the actual article said:

But Celine Dion didn’t wait for no official report to weigh in on Whitney’s death: Today on Good Morning America, the chest-thumping Canadian siren making some fairly bold statements accusing Houston of being a bad mother and succumbing to negative influences. So, what do you think: Is Celine allowed to assert her maternal side or should she have held her tongue so soon after this tragedy?

http://www.queerty.com/tmz-celine-dion-wei...death-20120213/

TMZ also accused Céline of declaring Whitney's cause of death drug related before an autopsy--and mocked her for it. But a lot of commenters on TMZ were noting that TMZ was the site that had "broken the story" of Whitney's death being caused by a mixture of alcohol and xanax. Hypocrisy.

Guys, I'd like your honest input on my thoughts here. I wrote a tribute article to Whitney for my University newspaper. I know a lot of people are going to be angry that I even brought it up, but I did bring up drug addiction and I even took the time to defend Céline in here. I was in tears the whole time I wrote it. Tell me what you think:

i thought this was a very well-thought-of write-up :) not in anyway disrespectful to whitney.

I'm just wondering what is wrong with all these people.

Céline didn't say that Whitney was a bad mother at all, I think she just wanted to express that she cannot understand how Whitney was able to do drugs and pass out so often in front of her daughter.

Also Céline never said something about that she's sure that drugs killed Whitney at the end.. the drugs killed her before, and that's the only truth.

I think people were not really listening to her and people don't know her, else they would have understood what she wanted to say. Further I think, it has been right of her to speak out what was only the truth. Everyone was just talking about the fact that Whitney passed away too soon and she was such a talented singer.. those things are right, absolutely right and I totally agree with that, but it's just one side of medaille and the other one needed to be spoken out too and that's what Céline did. No matter what people say, I support Céline and I admire her even more for being the only one so far speaking out things others, didn't want to say, or didn't want to think about.

Nevertheless, I'm not trying to make Whitney bad or something! I loved her, just as everybody else did, but I think she simply destroyed herself..

:thumbsup2: That's the huge hypocrisy behind all the media in this. Every news had hinted and are recalling at the drugs issue in her life and when a celebritie fellow speaks her mind and directly mentions it they all sprang on Céline to silence her. Such a DOUBLE STANDARD they have  :glare:

Thanks Jepoi. I'm really glad it didn't come across that way to you at all. I mean the utmost respect for her.

Also... Regardless of what people are saying in other news outlets, the response from Whitney fans at Classic Whitney is mostly positive:

I dont think she was disrespectful at all. She was clear upset at the music business and the bad people around Whitney.

***

I kind of agree with Celine. I think she's just a fan like any of us who has questions and is trying to figure out how things got so carried away. I don't think we should be upset about what she said http://abcnews.go.com/GMA...1206836&playlist=2898870

***

Not mad at Celine. She already gave a statement earlier that didn't mention drugs at all. She is frankly, saying what a lot of people are already thinking. She doesn't mean it in a bad way, she's just trying to make sense of what happened. Even if she did it in an annoying way, lol.

****

Yeah I don't think Celine meant any harm. We on the board have always mentioned how positive Celine was towards Whitney. She was just frustrated, as many fans are. She's been very candid from day one that the two stars she wanted to be like were Michael and Whitney and now they are both gone.

****

As I watched that segment earlier (as it aired live), I can only give Celine the benefit of the doubt. To me her reaction seemed to come from a genuine, purely emotional place.

****

I agree she shouldn't have made pronouncements about the cause of Whitney's death (although to implicate drugs in the bigger picture of Whitney's struggles is certainly warranted). But I'm inclined to chalk it up to grief. She was practically babbling seemingly out of distress. Robin did her best to get her on track and admonished her when it seemed she was casting aspersions on Whitney's family. Like so many of us, Celine was a fan and so she too is grappling to come to terms with this tragic loss. If anything, this should serve as a caution to the media. In their rush to get comments on Whitney, they should bear in mind that grief and anger likely will addle what even some of these seasoned celebrities and public figures have to say.

****

Celine Dion stands in the small handful of people that I would forgive for speaking off the cuff as she has a history of being well meaning and generous towards Whitney in showing how much she respects and admires her (respected and admired her - smh...). I don't really feel much of anything at the minute but I think I appreciate how Celine has been touched by Whitney's passing and she's stepped forward to talk about it. She was clearly distressed. I appreciate that there are hugely famous and talented people out there that are also sharing that loss and trying to make some kind of sense of it. It shows in Celine's voice that Whitney's death is as surreal to her as it is to us. mannish.

****

Her remarks did kind of rub me the wrong way but Celine Dion has always publicly professed her love for Whitney Houston so I am not going to hold it against her. Her interviews have always been a bit quirky so I will chalk this up to grief & frustration.

I have always liked this clip & it shows just how much she adored Whitney: (Video of Céline turning on tv during middle of press conference)

****

i am finding celine's "fly" to be very therapeutic

fly precious one, your endless journey has begun

fly little wing, fly where only angels sing, fly away the time is right, go now find the light

So essentially, I'm really not concerned with what the haters at TMZ, on YouTube comments, and on trash entertainment news sites have to say. Whitney's fans understand Céline's intentions, they know Céline loved her, and that's good enough for me. And I'm so glad that Céline's music could help a Whitney fan heal.

Were it not for Rene and Céline's amazing team, the media would've done to Céline exactly what they did to Whitney. Céline is so blessed to have had a manager (and husband) like Rene to keep her grounded and focused. We complain that Céline hasn't done enough, that she stays in Vegas, focuses too much on family, doesn't try to get on the charts... But she's steady. And she's still here with us, still performing, still making music, and still has her voice.

We Céline fans should count ourselves so lucky.

Celine Dion : "Drugs" and "Show Business" Killed Whitney Houston !

The cause of Whitney Houston's death remains under investigation -- but according to Celine Dion, this case is already closed.Speaking via phone on Monday's Good Morning America (she called the late icon "an amazing inspiration") the "My Heart Will Go On" singer didn't mince words looking back on Houston's legendary career and troubled later life.PHOTOS: Whitney's life remembered"It's just really unfortunate that drugs, bad people, bad influences took over her dreams, her motherhood," the French-Canadian star, 43, said of Houston, who famously fessed up in a 2002 interview with Diane Sawyer about using cocaine, marijuana and pills. "When you think about Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson . . . To get into drugs like that for whatever reason--because of stress, bad influence, whatever."PHOTOS: Tragic celeb deaths of 2011Dion lamented that her immensely talented idol, who left behind daughter Bobbi Kristina, apparently succumbed like other superstars before her. "What happens when you have everything? Love, support, motherhood…Something happens that I don't understand. That's why I'm scared of show business, of drugs and hanging out. That's why I don't go to parties!"

I think some people took the GMA interview the wrong way because Celine isn't the best at wording her feelings sometimes, because of english being her second language. I think people thought Celine was attacking Whitney's family for not stepping in. I think she was just trying to say that she left behind a family including a teenage daughter and it's a tragic loss to eveyone close to Whitney and her fans.

Celine only talked about drugs because alot of talented people in the industry have passed away from drug abuse lately and it's know secret that Whitney had been struggling for a long time with drug addiction. I don't think she was judging or putting blame on anyone. It might have come across that way to some people, but i don't think that's what Celine was trying to do. Celine just got so passionate about the subject, cuz she was probably picturing herself and if she ever did that to her children and the family she would be leaving behind. It sounded to me like Celine was really feeling for Whitney's family and there tragic loss.

Celine is grieving right now, along with the rest of Whitney's fans. Some people just took the interview the wrong way because they are passionate about Whitney aswell. Alot of peoples emotions are very raw right now. Losing someone you care about is a very difficult thing to go through.

This is what I was trying to say last night, but I was too tired to get my point across. Well said! :thumbsup2:

Glad to hear it. Celine spoke from the heart and as a fan. The media have twisted her words making it look like she said

I don't care what the coroner says, Whitney died of a drug overdose" :angry2:

Reading the Whitney message boards has really depressed me. (Not about Celine bashing, which I haven't seen much of, I mean in general) I can't dare to imagine how these fans must be feeling now. It's hard not to imagine us going through that here...

My heart goes out to them

Wouldn't it be a nice idea if Vic or Belamy, as the official representatives of this forum, could send a message of condolence on our behalf to all the fans on our sister fan site letting them know that we are thinking of them at this difficult time in their community (is classic whitney the biggest one on the web?) Maybe we could also include a link to this or one of the other Whitney topics, so they can see that they are not alone. It would be comforting, if the situation was reversed, to see that another fan forum was thinking about us.

Me too. Celine spoke honestly. She sounded upset and angry at another waste of a life and talent. She said how she can't understand how being a mother, wife, daughter, talented etc isn't enough for people. She said how strong addiction is if it can consume someone so much despite having everything else.

It was great seeing her in The Sun newspaper today, also Annie Lennox's comments.

Typical of press/twitter etc slamming Celine.

John, What you just said really touched me because i hadnt thought of this, It would be so thoughtful and i think it would show we do care! What Celine fan cannot say they dont like whitney, when her voice and style is somewhat similar? We might choose celine over her, but it doesn't mean she doesn't mean something to us! We as a forum should do this! You are such a lovely and thoughtful man John! I love how Celine fans can be so thoughtful :thumbsup2:
